**Cool High Elevation home does not normally need air conditioning in summer, but we have just installed new high efficiency AC unit to take the heat off the hottest days.
NOTE TO SUMMER TRAVELERS - Bridger Vista Lodge now has air-conditioning. The high elevation (6100 ft ASL) and arid climate make temps at Bridger Vista Lodge normally 10 degrees cooler than Bozeman and surrounding valleys. So even when lower elevations are sometimes hot in July and August, our log home is comfortable or even cool. Evening and overnight temps regularly drop into the 40s and 50s in summer. As a benefit, the high mountains to the west block the sun well before sunset which allows the mountain evening breeze to pleasantly cool our home. Even so, we have decided to install a high efficiency AC system to cool our home as necessary on the hottest days.
I am personally very sensitive to heat, so I understand the need for cooling air on the hottest days. To save energy, it is highly recommended to pull shades down in the afternoon or when out for the day and use fans for a little air movement. But if the house is still too warm, we now have air conditioning to keep our home comfortable. Please call Wendy for further explanation of this and other amenities at Bridger Vista Lodge.
Bridger Vista Family Lodge is the ideal location to enjoy the Montana mountains in comfort - far enough into the mountains to be quiet and private, but still a quick drive to Bozeman and the airport. Set on five acres northeast of Bozeman, Montana, this new log home is a superb vacation rental for location, recreation and luxury living. Loaded with amenities like a wireless Internet, HD Satellite TV, a hot tub and much more, this four bedroom, three bath, vacation home is furnished to accommodate 2 to 10 guests. It is romantic for couples, a perfect honeymoon house and perfect for families with five acres to explore and a spectacular mountain view of the ski slopes at Bridger Bowl Ski Area and Bohart Ranch Cross-Country Ski Center.
Whether you are planning a ski vacation, romantic getaway or a holiday with family and friends, this custom designed log home is a great place to enjoy the Montana mountains in comfort. The second story great room, kitchen, master suite and bathrooms are also designed to accommodate active wheelchair guests and we allow well-behaved pets with prior approval.
Convenient to town and close to the slopes, not only is fantastic powder down-hill skiing only minutes away at Bridger Bowl, but you can cross-country ski in and out of our home to BoHart Cross-Country Ski Ranch across the road. When the snow melts, nearby National Forest offers endless wildflower fields, hiking trails, wildlife and mountain activities in every season. Just a short scenic drive down Bridger Canyon is the western town of Bozeman, Montana, with great shopping, restaurants and entertainment including the Museum of the Rockies featuring a world-renowned dinosaur bone collection. Since Yellowstone National Park is only 100 miles south, it is worthwhile to take a day trip and see the scenic beauty, wildlife and numerous thermal features that are unique in the world.
The best feature of our home is the great room with a 22 foot vaulted ceiling, a massive Montana moss rock fireplace, rustic maple floors, extra large leather sofa, elk antler chandelier and inspirational view of Bridger Bowl Ski Area framed in a wall of windows with hand-hewn logs. The fully stocked kitchen features hickory cabinets, stainless steel appliances and thick granite countertops including a cooktop granite island that seats five. The dining area includes an eight-foot custom-made log slab table with leather cushion chairs and a deer horn chandelier. Next to the kitchen are French doors that open onto a covered log deck with a gourmet gas grill overlooking a wild flower field, small stream and alpine grove, perfect for children to explore.
The upstairs master suite includes a private deck with a panoramic mountain view, log ceiling cove lighting, a California king log bed and a log futon for both seating and extra sleeping space great for children. There is a wall-mounted plasma TV with an HD satellite tuner, a DVD player and surround sound. The master bath is handicap accessible and features a porcelain tile and marble open glass block shower with a fold down seat and grab bars. The double sink marble vanity is wheelchair friendly and trimmed in mosaic marble with unique pump faucets and alabaster lighting.
The vanity bath on the main floor is also wheelchair accessible and features porcelain tile with mosaic marble trim, a hammered copper sink, cove lighting and a Victorian slipper bathtub with champagne bubble massage and a view of the mountains while you bathe.
The lower level has three bedrooms with custom pine beds including two extra long twin bunk beds, an extra long twin captain bed, a queen bed with a twin trundle, a queen futon and a mountain view from every bedroom. All the beds have thick pillowtop BeautyRest mattresses, luxury linens and custom made quilts. The downstairs bathroom has a marble vanity, alabaster lighting and a bathtub shower. There is also a large two car heated garage for your convenience and large capacity washer and dryer in the laundry room with access to a covered patio where you can relax in the hot tub and enjoy the mountain view or a bright starry night.
Some of the other features include radiant heat for warm floors, a large out door hot tub, high speed wireless Internet, two plasma TVs with HD satellite tuners and DVD players, unlimited long distance telephone service, whole house audio with keypad control, an I-Pod dock, boot and glove dryers, ski racks, and so much more.
The awesome mountain view, luxury and location make this vacation rental a perfect place for entertaining, recreation or relaxation in every season. It has been our dream for 15 years to build a log vacation home in Bridger Canyon. Now that our wish has come true, it is great to share and we look forward to guests enjoying the rustic elegance of our Montana mountain home.

About the host
Hosted by Wendy
My name is Wendy and I grew up just a few miles from Bridger Vista. In fact I am the fifth generation to live in Bridger Canyon where my great-great grandparents homesteaded in the 1880s. We personally designed and custom built our log home to be the best vacation home we can make it. Bridger Vista is our dream come true with a fabulous location in the mountains to enjoy winter sports like skiing, and summer recreation like hiking as well as all that southwest Montana has to offer. Although we can not live in Montana now, it is a joy to know that our log home is collecting so many wonderful memories from all the guests who come to enjoy it.
Why they chose this property
We completed construction on our custom designed and built log home in August 2006 and it has quickly become a high demand rental for it's luxury and location. It took many years to find the perfect property to build our vacation home. Once we found it, we decided to build the best vacation rental home that we could to accommodate not only our own family, but with vacationing renters in mind for comfort, ambiance and convenience.
What makes this property unique
Most of the furniture is custom made to go with the house for both functionality and beauty with a rustic log decor. The log slab dining table was made of the same log as the built in phone desk. The bedroom furniture was custom made for each specific room to accomodate bed sizeand the thickest and best quality mattresses. The Bunk beds were designed for extra long twin mattresses with extra thickness for comfort and to hold an adult on the top bunk. But the best decor items are the antler chandeliers in the dining room and great room that were built by a local antler artist from the antlers collected by Wendy's grandfather in Bridger Canyon. They are a personal heirloom and true works of art.
