The John Bruff House Is a 2 Bedroom Cottage in the Heart of Historic St Michaels
The fully restored historic John Bruff House, located on the Town park, has magnificent St. Michaels harbor and Miles River water views. The house is 2 bedroom, 3 bathroom cottage with plenty of living space and a rear screened porch. It is a short walk from all museums, parks, restaurants, churches and shops in St. Michaels.
The house was built around 1805 by wheelwright John Bruff who is believed to have constructed the magnificent mantel and paneled wall in the living room.
The first floor of the original portion of the Bruff House includes a LIVING ROOM with original paneling, a DINING ROOM, and small DEN. To the rear of the original house on the first floor is a KITCHEN area connected to a large paneled FAMILY ROOM. To the rear of the kitchen is a screened PORCH facing a large backyard.
The second floor of the original portion of the Bruff House is a very large MASTER BEDROOM with fireplace having a king size bed. The second floor to the rear of the house includes a SECOND BEDROOM with a queen size bed.

I have been enjoying St. Michaels and restoring historic houses there since 1991.
Owner purchased this Cottage in 1996
Why Owner chose Saint Michaels
I purchased this remarkable property because of its architecture, its history, the wonderful yard, the harbor and river views, the location on the Town park and harbor, and the convenience to everything in St. Michaels.

Cute little house in the heart of downtown.
House is cute and rustic. The location is spectacular and the neighbors were really nice. Loved the screened in porch on the back (we ate dinner out there the first night) and the Adirondack chairs in the front yard. (Maybe the owner could get two more chairs, because we had to borrow from the neighbors so that all four of us could sit together?) We walked everywhere and felt very safe and at home in the Cottage. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful location and fabulous town
We enjoyed St Michaels immensely, and the JB cottage is perhaps the best situated in the entire town --perfect location. Very nice weekend getaway, highly recommended. The house was very comfortable and while one does expect a 200-year old home to be a little dated here and there, I was a bit disappointed with the little things --chipped tile and rusty shower rod in the bathroom (this is a very inexpensive repair), stains and damage to the coffee maker (the same model costs $19.99 online). For a fairly expensive cost per night, I would have expected a little more TLC to the property. That said, we had a terrific time. It's a lovely, lovely place.
Comfy cozy with everything we needed
Loved the charm of the home and all the details of the furnishings. It was cold While we were here but we were so happy and enjoyed the relaxation and downtime. I workedaomedrom here and loved sitting at the table looking out at the water.
We'll be back
Awesome location, unique home with fantastic views. Walking distance to anything you may need. If you like history, this is the place !
Charming historic home
We loved staying her in spite of challenging staircases. My son-in-law is handicapped and I am 77 but we managed to work it out. Would not hesitate to stay here again. This is in a wonderful location; easy to walk most everywhere. The front rooms are as they would have been 200 years ago. You feel a great sense of history staying here.
