Cute, Historic Home

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at the John Bruff house. Starting with the location, everything went beautifully. Only a block off Talbot St's restaurants and shops and with the beautiful view of the harbor the location can't be beat. The house had all the character you'd expect of a 200 year old property and was a joy to come back to each day. We would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location with wonderful views

  • 5 of 5

Location was exceptional. We were able to walk to all shops, restaurants, walking trails and the Maritime Museum. We had park and water views from several of the windows which made it very relaxing. It was really nice to be able to walk out of the house and sit on a bench to watch the harbor or to listen to the free Thursday concert in the park. Small town charm to be sure and all of the people we met were very friendly and helpful.

The house was roomy and had everything we needed. I was surprised how quiet it was and how well we slept in the morning. If you like colonial houses you will be in for a treat . We got the same feel that we get when we go to Williamsburg. The only thing you need to be aware of is that the master bedroom has a curved original staircase that can be tricky to maneuver, especially for anyone with hip or knee issues. We managed them fine and enjoyed the house and appreciated the fact that Tom greeted us when we arrived and was so responsive to our needs.

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house. Spent a lot of time on the front yard watching the boats and bay and on the back screened in porch. The house was comfortable and well located only a couple of blocks from the Main Street shops and restaurants. The bedrooms upstairs worked well for us and our friends but would note for some people that the stairs were narrow on one staircase and steep in the other. Would definitely stay there again

This is an addendum to my previous review

I forgot to mention earlier what a great location this is! It is right at the harbor, and very close to Talbot St. You can easily walk everywhere from here.

An idyllic weekend

  • 5 of 5

We will definitely return to this wonderful cottage and welcoming community. The cottage is a great blend of colonial character and modern function, with the best location in town. We parked our car conveniently behind the house, and we walked everywhere for our three-day stay ... to the market for groceries and a newspaper, to a variety of restaurants, to the maritime museum, and to the fun shops. We all remarked on the friendliness of both the locals and the other visitors. Our small dog made more friends than we did! Sort of perfect.

Quaint cottage with a great view

  • 4 of 5

Great place to stay. Dog friendly with access to a park right out front. Steep stairwells may be tough for some people. Walking distance to most things to do. The owner gave great recommendations. The Bistro is a great dinner spot!
