103 is a Studio Apartment on the first floor suitable for a couple or small family.. The apartment has a double sofa bed which sleeps two adults. We have travel cots and high chairs for travelling babies, and foldaway single bed for child/children. Open plan, air-conditioned, with an American kitchens fully equipped with four ring ceramic hob, electric oven and extractor, dishwasher, microwave, china, cutlery, pots, and coffee makers. The shower room has an extra large shower base with triple sliding doors, a seat and grab rail for extra comfort and access, toilet and sink, washing machine, iron and ironing board and hair-drier. There are washing lines outside the windows for drying and pegs in the kitchen drawer. We have a gated communal swimming pool at the rear of the building and direct access to the pedestrianised promenade through the gardens which leads to the beach - on which we are frontline. Playa de la Fossa has inflatable rafts for swimming to, jet ski jetty with safety buoys to keep riders from going too close to shore, pedalo boats and sun bed for hire with cabana style shades. There is a wooden shaded area to take refuge from the heat of the sun, excellent life guards at regular intervals along the beach and a tourist information point with up to date information open all summer long. The paseo along the beach has bars, ice-cream parlours, cafes and restaurants all within easy walking distance and a late opening club at the far end of the beach. Calpe administration spends time and energy every year making improvements to the visitor experience and the beach and paseo cleaning is absolutely great.
Access: The main entry to Edificio Horizonte has ground floor level access, leading to three lifts all suitable for use for a person using a mobility scooter/wheelchair.
The shower rooms in 103 are designed to make life easy for people with moderate mobility issues although they are not wet rooms. There are no internal steps in either studio.
Transport: The nearest airport is Alicante. There is a regular bus service from the airport to Calpe, car hire is readily available at the airport and we can arrange private transfers if required. Calpe is about an hour's drive from Alicante airport. Alsa provide a good bus service to and from all local areas, with a bus station in Calpe town. Beniconnect minibus transfers operate from Alicante airport at low cost per person, however private transfer or taxi transfers become more economical depending on the number in the party. A good selection of restaurants, shops and Pharmacy are within easy walking distance and a car is not necessary to enjoy a stay here. There is an Urban Bus stop 150 m from the building for a bus that takes you to the Centre of town in minutes. Mobility scooters are available to hire in Calpe for approximately €65 per week.
Activities: Water sports are popular in season, with sail-boards, yachts and jet skis for hire, with PADI open water diving and sailing courses in progress from April to September. Cyclists and walkers use Calpe as a base for touring and walking during Autumn and Spring. The beach is a 2019 Blue flag awarded sandy beach. There are recliners with and without shade and pedalos for hire. There are lifeguards a regular intervals along the beach in summer. Fixed play/exercise equipment is in position for adults and children to use. There is a an area with decking and shade for wheelchair users on Calalga beach with a beach bar alongside, Our communal swimming pool has lifeguard cover from 11.00am to 21.00 during the summer months. The pool is for the use of Horizonte and Entre Mares residents only with a fob/key operated gate.
For the more horizontally inclined the two bigger hotels nearby offer spa days, massage and beauty treatments to non residents. There are several herbalists in town and one in particular which offers Reflexology, Reiki, Therapeutic Massage, Aromatherapy and dietietics in addition to herbal preparations.
Night life: Chill out beach front vars with cocktails, large screen TV showing sports and music videos etc. for early evening and of course food. The Cameleon Bar is a summer late night/all night venue, within walking distance. Check Cameleon on Utube for a flavour of the atmosphere. There are neighbourhood bars with Karaoke music and Latin Dance music in town with dancers of all ages welcome. La Copa opens at 10.30pm and closes around 04.00 in summer with Karaoke/Latin and UK dance music and a lively atmosphere.
Food shopping: Is easy for enthusiastic cooks. Mercadonna and Consum supermarkets are a short walk from the apartment, Lidl and Aldi are two minutes drive away and a local market selling fresh fruit and vegetables, home pressed olive oil, olives, local wines breads and lively hodge podge of eclectic non-food stuffs three mornings a week. Something for everyone to enjoy.
