About the host
Hosted by Kathleen Camilli
We purchased this unit in 1992 on a whim, and thirty years later we are still enjoying it. Instead of buying bigger in Southampton, we've realized that small is beautiful. Most of our time is spent outdoors, not in the house. In summer, we swim the ocean beaches or Big Fresh Pond every day, bike the surrounding area, play tennis and golf, stroll in the village, sail or boat on Shinnecock and Peconic Bay and enjoy the beautiful calmness and beauty of the Hamptons. Most evenings we grill outdoors, and enjoy the starlit night on our outdoor patio.
Why they chose this property
Walkable to the ocean and village. You don't need a car. You can arrive by Hampton Jitney or train, and walk to our location. It's peaceful and quiet with lots of privacy even though these are attached townhouses. No one will know you are there. This was the first piece of real estate we bought as a married couple. Our two young children grew up here coming on weekends all year long, winter, spring, summer, and fall. They first ice-skated on Old Town Pond, went sleigh riding on Shinnecock golf course, picked pumpkins at Hank's pumpkin town, and enjoyed their summers sailing out of the Southampton Yacht Club on Shinnecock Bay.
What makes this property unique
We chose this property because the price was right for our young budget, not expecting to hold on to it, but trade it away for a bigger house in another location. Instead, we ended up keeping this townhouse, and it was right for all the right reasons. As the kids grew, they hopped on their bikes, and went into town or the beach, not needing us to chauffeur them around. They gained an independence of small town living in America that was priceless.
