About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area) and is located on the South fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods In Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

This property exceeded our expectations! The cabin was spacious and beautiful. We enjoyed the covered front porch for dinners and card games, and enjoyed exploring the neighborhood - including the convenient market and a nearby river. Also convenient to the Yosemite sites.

Great Yosemite Location. Clean and Comfortable
It was an outstanding experience staying at this cabin. We booked it last minute and weren’t quite sure what to expect having never been to Yosemite. The cabin was clean, comfortable and very homey. The craftsmanship throughout the cabin and front deck are top notch. It was a beautiful place to stay in such a beautiful park. We recommend 36 Larkspur Lair
Being August it was quite warm during our visit to Yosemite. It was very nice coming back to the house each night after exploring and having a cool house. Also, loved the porch. I ate breakfast there each morning and we had dinner there in the evening. It was larger than we needed for our family of four but it was nice being able to spread out. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
Really wonderful property and we had an absolutely fantastic stay. It’s a spacious place with a well appointed kitchen and a great deck to hang out on. I loved the proximity to Chilnaulna Falls, Mariposa Grove, and the Wawona hotel where we dined a couple times. Yosemite Valley is about an hours drive but being inside the gate you don’t have to worry about a line to get into the park, so that’s nice too. It’s professionally managed with a management office close by to help with whatever you need. Overall it was a great stay, really comfortable, and I look forward to a return visit!

From start to finish, couldn’t have asked for a better location, house, setup, etc. the house appears to be new or very recently remodeled. The location makes it simple to start from within the park and have the ability to go back and forth.
One bonus that is underrated is having full cell phone service (Verizon) at the house. Once you go just a bit further into the park it is gone.
We stayed here in Jan, 2022 it was an awesome experience. They have a small grocery store 5 mins walking distance from the cabin. I was mesmerized by the beauty of outdoors, had a great time w/ family. Cooked in the spacious kitchen and had a great family dinner. Definitely going back next winter.
Great being inside the park and avoiding entry lines each day. Close to Mariposa Grove, 50 minutes to the valley. Property was clean and well equipped. Loved the covered front deck, great place to relax after a morning of hiking!

Nice Cozy Cabin, outside was amazing just the check in is to LATE AND Check Out Is Way To Early. But overall very good will recommend
Wonderful cabin inside Yosemite. It was so nice to not have to wait in the park entrance line each day. The cabin was very clean and modern, great location, comfortable beds, and great showers. Loved the washer/dryer and it was the perfect size for our family of four (two teenagers). Loved this place!
Great place to stay. Best part is it was inside the gate (when we drove out on Monday we saw a line about 1 mile long of cars and we were very thankful we spent the extra money to book inside the park). Yosemite is massive so it was still a 40-60 minute drive to most of the highlights. This cabin was perfect for our family of six. The owners thought through all of the details, and the fact we could just show up with food and clothing was great. (linens and towels were taken care of).
Loved our 6-night stay in Wawona at Cabin#36! Great home. Well located, about 45 minutes from Glacier Point and from Yosemite Valley Floor. Modern home with great amenities and well set up, clean and fun. Our family of 5 loved staying here and would certainly return! Highly recommend.
We had a very pleasant stay. The cabin was big and nice. Planning to go back next summer

Great house, met all our needs.
The house was perfectly sized for our family and in a great setting. The surroundings were pretty quiet, most people observing the quiet hour rules. Kitchen was well stocked, and we were able to cook meals and prepare lunches to go. Everything was easily accessible for my 81 year old parent. Very comfortable. Top rack of the dishwasher was broken, but we found the missing piece in the trap and fixed it. Was a 50 minute drive to the valley, which was harder some days than others. It did mean you escaped the crowds when you returned.

First time in Yosemite
For years we dreamed about going to Yosemite. We were always discouraged due to our own planning and the lack of space in the park. Finally, the whole family got there, and the whole experience was magnificent. The cabin was amazing, the personnel very attentive, the weather was superb, and the park itself, an immense sample of the beauty of our planet. Just one little detail. That cabin can accommodate ten persons and we were seven. We left one little girl out of the trip because this particular restriction of that house.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the cabin and your visit to Yosemite. Sorry you had to leave one behind. But the County puts a limit on the number of guests each cabin can safely accommodate. We have to go by County rules and the owner's wishes too.
