About this property
Waterfront Designer Styled Home in National Seashore Area
Serendipity…
You may not have expected to find this quintessential, designer styled luxury, waterfront cottage…what a delightful and unexpected surprise. It’s Serendipity!
Our warm and inviting cottage sits comfortably nestled amongst the pines and directly overlooks Schoolhouse Pond, a wonderful freshwater pond where you can enjoy fishing and many popular, non-motorized water activities.
The two bedroom cottage interior boasts an easy living, open concept kitchen/living/sunroom area with dining, along with king and queen bedrooms. Recently renovated, the house has hardwood floors, freshly re-finished walls, stainless steel appliances, newly renovated and equipped kitchen, and beautiful furnishings throughout. The bathroom refurbishment includes a new tile and glass shower, all new fixtures, flooring, cabinetry and lighting. Our home is impeccably clean and sanitized….. and ready for you!
Luxury bed linens, plush towels, and beach equipment are provided for your special stay.
Enjoy relaxed outdoor living in the newly renovated sunroom which has a beautiful vaulted ceiling, new windows/doors and gorgeous new floor. Leave the sunroom though the sliders or double French doors, and enjoy some time on the deck or our new blue stone patio overlooking the water. There’s plenty of privacy and outdoor living space with comfortable, casual seating, new Weber gas grill, hot/cold water outdoor shower and fabulous views of the pond.
There’s private parking for two vehicles and room to store bicycles you bring or rent to ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail or to the beach!
A new guest laundry room is also available!
Fish, kayak, canoe or swim in the freshwater pond from our private shore area. Enjoy our complimentary canoe with select size lifejackets. The National Seashore, Salt Pond Visitor's Center, Coast Guard and Nauset Light Beaches, and biking/hiking trails are just moments away. The Visitor's Center at nearby Salt Pond is the entrance to the National Seashore. From Salt Pond you can canoe or kayak to the outer ocean. The National Seashore area is also filled with biking and hiking trails, and is home to some of Cape Cod's best beaches to include Coast Guard Beach which is about 2 miles away.
Our cottage is centrally located between Provincetown and Hyannis where you can join fishing, sailing and whale watching charters, and enjoy great shopping and restaurants. The winery in Truro, the antique shops and galleries in Wellfleet, and the many shops and restaurants of Orleans and Eastham are just a some of the other nearby attractions.
Welcome to Serendipity!

About the host
Hosted by Donna Lajoie

Hello,
Jeff and I live in Boston, but love this Cape cottage purchased more than 15 years ago now. We both have had long careers in the hospitality industry. Jeff is the Vice-President of Operations and Sales for a Boston area hotel company, and I am self-employed and celebrating my 16th year of Lajoie Purchasing Associates, a hospitality purchasing and design company. I also have a hotel operations background as the regional manager responsible for more than 10 hotels.
We look forward to welcoming you and hope you love this special home as much as we do!

Why they chose this property
Serendipity
(defined as an unplanned fortunate discovery)
One early spring day nearly 16 years ago we had decided to take a daytrip to Provincetown, Cape Cod. Along our way to “Ptown”, we chose to make a stop at the National Seashore Visitor’s Center that we had heard about from a friend’s recent trip to the Cape. Unsure of exactly where the Visitor’s Center was located, we were riding down Route 6 and chatting away when my sister said, “oh, there it is”.
Rather than slamming on the brakes, I looked to the next place I could turn around. We pulled off Route 6 and travelled down a little side road where, at the top, stood a sign ~ “Bayberry Hill Cottages”. The very first thing I saw, absolutely took my breath away…..a quaint little cottage sitting on a sparkling pond, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. This sweet place, with a weathered exterior, some unkept landscaping and a ramshackle porch seemed to speak to me. I said to my sister, “this place is fantastic, and with some love and care, this frog could become a Prince.
We parked the car to have a closer look and, to our surprise, behind some overgrown bushes, was a for sale sign….Serendipity!
