About Diane Fujii Johnson

The owners are born and raised in Hawaii. Diane was Asst. Administrator for the largest surf events in Hawaii - Triple Crown of Surfing, Quicksilver Eddie Would Go, etc and founded her own professional surf club. Her newest venture, Aloha Sand Company is her exclusive line of t-shirts using real Hawaiian Sand on the designs. She created this unique patent-pending process and sells on-line and at resorts around Hawaii.

Diane's husband Wayne is a trained Marine Biologist and owns Honolulu Fish Company, a seafood distribution company sourcing fresh wild-caught Hawaiian fish to Michelin Star restaurants around the country. Regarded as an expert in Hawaii's fishery management, Wayne often appears in magazines and documentaries such as Forbes, Bon Apetit and Food and Wine magazine.

They live in Hawaii Kai on the water with their 4 children, ages 16, 12, 9 and 6 and enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking, surfing and hiking on the weekends.

Diane Fujii Johnson purchased this house in 2016

Why Diane Fujii Johnson chose Hauula

Diane and Wayne's local knowledge of the ocean environment in Hawaii lead them to choose this special home located on “Kalaipaloa Point”. Located on a small point with only a handful of other beachfront homes, rarely will you see any other souls. Ideally located for snorkeling and water activities, the unique location of this property keeps the waters crystal clear and protected from large surf by an outside barrier reef. The ocean on the inside of the reef is only 3-4 feet deep and teeming with live corals, tropical fish and families of turtles. During whale season, mothers and their calves pass right outside the reef and offer the perfect photo opportunity.

What makes this house unique

Local surfer mom and Marine Biologist dad chose this piece of paradise for their own enjoyment. Scouring the shores of Oahu, this property had everything we wanted: Privacy, enclosed tropical yard, two story home to entertain, crystal clear waters with fish and turtles, a place where we can feel safe with our children enjoying the ocean right out front. Recommended for older children due to upstairs deck, sea wall and stairs leading into the ocean.

The turtles bring their young in close, and are sometimes only a few feet away!

Amazing home in a great location near north shore activities.

  • 5 of 5

Family of six and a toddler on a 10 day adventure in Oahu. This home has all the essentials and lots of attention to details to make your vacation care free. Excellent location on the oceanfront. Easy access to north shore or Honolulu for adventures. 15 min from a Kualoa Ranch and the Polynesian culture center. We were able to visit the entire island. Lots of great beaches and look out sites. Walking trails. Fun local places to eat and food trucks within 15 min. And less than an hour to Haleiwa for some special dinners at Joes, Beachhouse and Breakers. Snorkel and play in the ocean right off the property. Lots of great toys, snorkel gear, cooler, shoes to use on the beaches. We did cook breakfast everyday at home and several late night meals. Kitchen is awesome and lots of staples in the pantry if needed. Laundry facilities are excellent. We were able to keep all laundry clean throughout the trip. No problem with noise from the road as others have commented on. Also, yes it does rain but this should not deter you from any scheduled activities. Rains are short and keep the island green and lush. If the rain is bothering you just drive north or south for 30 min and the weather will be different. We’ve been doing vrbo vacations since our girls were little. Now they are married and starting their own families. We love staying at homes such as this that make you feel welcome and free to explore your surroundings. Thanks Dianne!!

Owner's Response: Mahalo for being the perfect guests! Being well seasoned vrbo vacationers, I am glad you noticed all the details that go into making your stay comfortable. When you have all of the necessities, you can spend time doing the fun things in Hawaii such as eating at lunch trucks and playing at the beaches. I do the Costco runs and stock the house with much of the basic supplies, so you don’t have to! We want you to enjoy every minute that you are in the islands, and it sounds like you did. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us! And for a uniquely different Hawaiian experience, please come back and stay at our other vacation home (#969030). The Executive Marina Spa House has heated salt water pool with Lava waterfalls, spa and custom sauna on the private marina in upscale Hawaii Kai. 5 minutes from Hanauma Bay. Mahalo and “A hui hou!” - Until we meet again.

This house is perfect for a family getaway or family reunion as we had. It has everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect location for a quiet getaway but is close enough to everything you would want. You need to rent a car to get around. The cultural centre up the toad is fantastic, there are climbing experiences and waterfalls close by. We did a Jurassic Park tour which was great, went up to pipeline and snorkelled a little further north which was brilliant. From our location there are grocery stores close by for easy food shoppers however the house is very well stocked.

We loved our stay at Turtle Point and I would highly recommend a stay here. The owners are easy to contact and are prompt with a reply.

Excellent view and wonderful time spent in this very spacious home.

Marvelous waterfront home! Great for two families together.

  • 5 of 5

This house is a real gem. We so enjoyed the views from this home and floating in the water in our own backyard. The views are amazing. It is very peaceful to sit on the upper deck and watch for turtles. The wind tended to pick up in the afternoon making the water too choppy for swimming in those hours, but the mornings were as calm as can be. I'd be happy to stay at home the entire vacation, but we got out to hike the Hau'ula Loop Trail, snorkel in Shark's Cove, swim in Waimea Falls, and enjoy the shows at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We had two families together (4 adults, 4 teens) and the home fit us well. The gym equipment is top notch and it is a treat to exercise with sweeping ocean views. Diane keeps the home well stocked. We appreciated the laundry detergent, shampoo, etc. Shopping is close by, but with limited variety. We stopped by Costco on our way here to prepare for the week. I highly recommend this rental.

Awesome Getaway from busy Waikiki

  • 5 of 5

This was my family’s first time to Hawaii and we wanted more of a local experience so we wanted to stay out of touristy Honolulu, best decision we made. We utilized the entire house. There really was everything we could think of at the house...stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, lots of outdoor items, washer/dryer, comfortable beds and hot water. If you stay upstairs there is a bit of road noise. We just used some ear plugs or the fan to drown out the noise, but we often played so hard during the day I doubt the noise would have kept us up much. The outdoor space was wonderful. It was a good thing I planned out most of our days or my parents wouldn’t have left the lounge chairs and my husband wouldn’t have stopped fishing. Traveling to and from Honolulu was a breeze since we knew to plan around rush hour traffic and the change of scenery made the traffic we did hit seem like “what traffic?”. Thank you Diane!

Owner's Response: Wonderful! We are so glad you took advantage of the ruralness of this area! It is truly a fabulous place to get away from the crowds and just enjoy the beauty that Hawaii offers - crystal clear oceans, white sand beaches and lush, tropical mountains. It sounds like you truly experienced Hawaii like a local, and we are thrilled that the Turtle Point Beach House made this possible for you and your family. Aloha!

Sunrise viewing is the best!

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful and filled with all kinds of toys to help you enjoy the ocean, including fins, snorkels, water shoes, boogie boards, and life jackets. The kitchen is well stocked and we used the grill to cook the mahi mahi we caught while on a deep sea fishing tour. The kids loved the Wii and big screen TV. The only caution is that we would recommend ear plugs if sleeping in the back rooms of the house. The noise from the highway is unavoidable but quite loud and can impact sleep if you’re not accustomed to traffic noise. Other than this, our stay was wonderful. We especially loved the sunrises each morning....definitely worth rising early for.
