Beautiful, comfortable, relaxing, with great hosts: we're already planning a return trip.
The Orchard Cottage was wonderful, set on a beautiful farm surrounding by gorgeous mountains and rolling hills. We were using the cottage as a home base to explore parts of Ashe County, but we found we didn't want to leave the grounds. Walter and Johnny were great hosts, and even invited us to an Ashe County Arts Council they were hosting on the grounds (regretfully, we couldn't make it). Just some of the highlights (and I could go on): amazing grounds to explore; multiple rolling springs that provided relaxing background noise; beautiful hike along the top of the surrounding hills; front and back porches to relax and enjoy the sites and sounds; and a cozy, well-stocked cottage that had everything we needed. Even our dog didn't want to leave: she had a blast running around the farm with Walter and Johnny's vizslas. We took a ton of pictures to share with friends, and a few have already asked for contact info based on what they saw. We can't wait to go back.
Thanks so much for visiting! We can’t wait to welcome you back!
Another fantastic stay!
This was our second time staying in the cottage. It was just as incredible as the first. As an added bonus we stopped at the cidery in Lansing (Molley Chomper) on our way home and were excited to take a bottle of cider made with Old Orchard Creek blueberries home with us. We can not wait until our next visit!
Amazing little getaway!
My husband and I stayed at this cottage with our dog over the weekend for our anniversary. Walter and Johnny were so welcoming and their property is amazing. They have a steep hiking trail on the property behind the cabin which we would recommend doing, our dog loved It! The cottage was very clean with great views.
We also ate at pie on the mountain and had cider at molley chopper, both are worth going to! We will be back in the summer when they have their blueberries!
Hidden jewel in upstate North Carolina
Our family of four enjoyed every minute of our stay at Old Orchard Creek Farm. This picturesque property is full of fun discoveries - a gentle stream, a pasture with friendly donkeys and cows, resident pups and cats eager to make you feel welcome, an amazing hike with magnificent views and a charming rope swing... I could go on! Our boys had an awesome time exploring and we did too! Johnny and Walter were gracious hosts and our cottage was cozy and lovely in every way. We cannot wait to return during blueberry season!
Perfect little get away
My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to spend the Christmas holiday. The goal was to spend some time outside and do a lot of reading by the fire. This place was perfect for that! The cabin is small, but up to date and clean. The owners are accessible without being intrusive. There is a lovely (and steep) 2-mile hike around the property that affords wonderful views of the mountains, which my dog and I did every day. The location is also relatively near Grayson Highland State Park and Mt. Jefferson State Natural Area for more outside opportunities. The property was beautiful in the winter with a dusting of snow, so I can only imagine how nice it would be in the spring, summer, or fall.
A little slice of heaven!!!
A true gem!! From the moment we got there we knew we had picked the right place! First... The farm itself could be right out of a painting!! It is just beautiful! The cabin is wonderful! Warm and inviting, with a really stunning fireplace! While rustic in feel it has all the modern amenities! Johnny and Walter were great hosts and live on the same property. Their three Vizsla’s are just too cute, especially Emma who made fast friends with our Kona! This was a great vacation for our furry family member too, running around and playing with Emma! I think they will really miss each other!! We hiked the trail around the property, visited the cows and donkeys and explored the neighboring towns! Overall this was one of our best vacations and we will definitely come back!!
