About the property

Log Cabin, 2 Private Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

From snow showers to spring flowers, we've got the charmer for you!

Bearfootin' is a private, forested, two-story, stone's throw from the water, first-tier lakefront log home with 7-person Catalina Spa housed in open-air mahogany gazebo, offering spectacular lake and mountain views and all the comforts of home! Set atop a hill amidst giant granite boulders and mature pines, Bearfootin' is high above the hustle-and-bustle of daily life. This Boulder Bay getaway is undeniably 'cute and cozy' yet elegantly sophisticated. This log home is endowed with floor-to-ceiling knotty pine throughout, having an open-trellis cathedral ceiling. Its charm is only enhanced by its custom mountain decor. Take some time out to cuddle up next to Bearfootin's massive, native-rock, woodburning fireplace... always a heart warmer!

For your apres-ski pleasure or any time, Bearfootin's seven-person Catalina Spa is the perfect aperitif to any day on the mountain or the lake! The spa is housed in a darling mahogany 'doll-house' style gazebo, providing guests with an added element of comfort and privacy. Looking out over the lake and surrounding mountains, it truly embraces all that nature has bestowed on this land!

Bearfootin' is located just a short walk around the corner to scenic Boulder Bay Park (walkout fishing pier, beach area, launch/rent kayaks, anchor boat, walking path, picnic tables, covered pavilion, public facilities), a 1-minute drive to Pleasure Point Marina (boat rentals of all sorts, fishing gear), 2 minutes to the Performing Arts Center, 4 to 5 minutes to the festive Bavarian-style Village of Big Bear (restaurants, pubs, coffee houses, bakery, shops & boutiques, galleries, 2 movie theaters), Alpine Slide (snow tubing~water slide in summer), horseback riding, mountain biking, zip line, swim beach (lifeguarded) and much more. Only 4.5 - 4.7 miles (Google Maps) to the slopes for our skiers and boarders!

We invite you to c'mon up and enjoy this lovely splendor. Rest assured, if loveliness were music, even bears would be dancin' at Bearfootin'... life's bear necessity!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great stay in your cozy cabin! My family felt very comfortable. We loved the views and we had lots of fun in the hot tub! It was a very unique experience having all the boulders in our own backyard - we enjoyed climbing on them. We also loved all of our rooms. Thank you so much for making our saty in Big Bear a great experience!

Beautiful, warm, cozy, perfect location. Can't wait to go back.

We couldn't help but smile the minute we opened the door. The cabin looks like a home you would see in a decorator magazine. It is so warm and cozy...even more impressive than the pics on your website. Such a nice break for my husband and I. We have 3 young boys, we could just let them go. The cabin is very secluded (and safe, no thru streets/no cars), yet it is in close proximity to everyting. Don't think you can find a more perfect location!! There is something to do every minute, yet is also very tranquil. Although it is perfect for families with kids, I think we're coming back alone next time, it is also very romantic. We could just picture ourselves peacefully hanging out on the deck sharing a bottle of wine overlooking the beautiful view of the lake. Bridget, you were so accomodating, don't know if you decorated the house or you had it done, but it is breathtaking the minute you walk in the door. What a treat!!! The whole family loved it, loved it, loved it!!!! Thank you so much!!

Cute, homey cottage near attractions of Big Bear Lake. Bridget was very nice to work with.

Cute, homey cottage near attractions of Big Bear Lake. Bridget was very nice to work with. Very responsive and genuinely kind. Cottage could use some updating, but it was comfortable. Bathroom is for tiny people, but we understand that space is limited. Very nice experience.

Grateful and Celebrity Life Together

  • 5 of 5

Our sincere thanks to the Host who welcomed and accommodated my husband and I to this memorable retreat! We were dreaming of getaway from our mundane routine to Celebrate our 28th anniversary together and We Found It! 😉 This is the place to go - the location is perfect on a quiet cul-va-sac with a welcoming log cabin surrounded with a panorama view - The clear skies, the pines, and the lake better than the pictures. The inside is as inviting and cozy, too. The sitting area greets you and the couches are relaxing. We really enjoyed the evenings cuddling in front of the fireplace as we reflected on our blessings. The beds are comfortable, engaging too! When you awake in the morning you will be consumed by a spectacular view. A constant reminder there is MORE ... step out and explore! Everything is convenient. We can't wait to return and share this tranquil spot with our whole family. So grateful - Thank you for lifting our spirits! Enjoy the moments!

Great vacation cabin

  • 5 of 5

we stayed at the cabin in August of 2016 and had a wonderful time. It was a great location, very clean and quiet. The hot tub was a very nice feature as well as the ability to use a laundry machine. Bridget was very responsive with any questions or recommendations we asked. We would definitely stay there again.

Cute Comfy and Clean!

  • 4 of 5

This is a very cute cabin. My husband and I spent 2 day relaxing and enjoying the mountain air. The cabin is very centrally located. Just a short drive to everything. I do wish there was a direct walk down to the lake though. Maybe there was but I couldn't find it. Obviously, the homeowners don't want anyone wandering through their yard, I totally get it. Also, the lake is pretty low so the view of Boulder Bay is of dry land. As the owner said "we're waiting for mother nature to do her thing". There really is everything you need in the cabin. It was unseasonably warm when we went so the cabin was a little warm so we just went out on the deck in the evening to cool off and enjoy the view. One suggestion to the owners though. Maybe find a way to put up some sort of privacy from the neighbors. When BBQ-ing or Jaccuzz-ing, you are on display and all your conversations go right into their window. With that being said, it really is a nice place to stay and if we find ourselves heading back up to the lake, we would absolutely rent the cabin again. The owner was very nice and immediately available if any issues came up. The place was very well maintained and clean. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be with a nice snowfall around it. I would absolutely recommend this to my friends.

You'll enjoy coffee houses, restaurants, pubs, galleries, boutiques, fudge factory, beef jerky, ice cream, old-fashioned candy, strolling, people watching, window shopping, Christmas corner (during the holiday season) and much more!
