About Travis Scheff
My name is Travis Scheff and I am a local business owner in the downtown Tacoma area. I live on site in this beautiful 100-year-old historic building. The Rowland building was completely renovated by Laura Hanan and family to turn it into this beautiful mixed-use building and built two beautiful identical high-end condos featuring custom cherry wood cabinetry, original brick walls, and refinished 100-year-old Doug Fir wood floors. You will find original art work displayed through out the building.
Travis Scheff purchased this Condo in 2000
Why Travis Scheff chose New Tacoma
Laura Hanan and family found this beautiful old building - a dusty gem - in the heart of downtown Tacoma - the Theater District. We saw the raw potential of the area and since purchasing and remodeling our building we are in the center of a lovely new restaurant, pub and brewery row, which proudly includes our own bar and grill, 'The Office', downstairs in the building. We are honored that our building is also on the local register of historic buildings. A new Pacific Northwest heavy-hitter anchor tenant, McMenamins is being built less than two blocks away from our building and will feature a music venue, theatrical events, and a brew pub in the grand old historic Elks Building.
What makes this Condo unique
We love to pamper our guests with condos that are furnished tastefully and include all original artwork. A complimentary bottle of wine, chocolates, and pound of fresh coffee, await our visitors. We live on site and are available to help out with restaurant suggestions and information about the wonderful local events and places to visit.

I cannot say enough about this wonderful condominium or the Owner. The condo came with all of the essentials, even a bottle of wine. Travis was gracious and allowed me in a day early. The artwork was spectacular, loved the brick wall, working area with a desk was great. The neighborhood had a lot of amenities and there was a restaurant a door away. I will definitely go back. Loved everything about this rental!
Fabulous host, Stunningly Beautiful Unit ... & an Excellent Location!
My wife and I have been delighted wth our stay at Tarvis' beautiful property! From the gracious and warm manner in which he personally welcomed us on arrival to the countless thoughtful touches throughout this beautifully appointed unit ... choosing to stay in this place has been an excellent decision!
The sunlight and the very tasteful artwork will captivate you as soon as you enter the apartment. And then each room & each space has numerous little touches that totally set this unit apart from most others on VRBO, HomeAway or AirBnB. The supplies provided in the kitchen and the bathrooms are of a wide variety and of high quality, and more than enough to last during a long stay. The welcome hamper of two bottles of Washington wine, 6-7 local craft beers, couple of chocolate bars and a fresh Orchid flower arrangement -- what a nice way to welcome the guests ... we sincerely appreciate Travis' gesture and warm hospitality!
As for the car, Travis has even provided a covered parking garage in the back of the house.
The location itself is excellent -- very safe ... close to several good restaurants and bars (The Office, Matador, etc.), local Farmers Market (on Thursdays); places to walk/jog (Foss Waterway, Tacoma Waterfront/ Ruston Way, Wright Park); an excellent supermarket (Stadium Thriftway); and some top notch museums (Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum, etc.).
Overall, we would rate our stay as top notch and whole heartedly recommend this place to other guests planning to visit Tacoma.
Thank you, Travis, for making our stay so very comfortable and for being a fabulous host!!
The property is very clean, roomy and has some beautiful art work and pictures.
Travis, the owner, is very accessible and accommodating to any issues or needs you may have. The property is close to public transportation either bus, the links or light rail. There are several restaurants and breweries nearby. It was also nice to have a washer and dryer. We highly recommend the property.
Contemporary furnishings, comfortable, fully stocked with all of your everyday needs. Great vibe in the unit with friendly host.
Thank you for the wonderful review Cova. We are glad you have enjoyed your stay with us please keep us in mind in the future for yourself and or friends and family.
Fabulous place, great time
Our introduction to Tacoma couldn't have been better. This apartment was luxurious and comfortable, in a great central location. The owners spared nothing to make sure we had every convenience, and the details were all much more upscale than we were used to with your typical vacation rental. We enjoyed many restaurant meals nearby and easily located a good supermarket so we could also prepare meals in the apartment. Big plus: super comfy bed. P.S. Best bakery ever nearby- Corina's. Stay for coffee.
A home away from home; look no further!
My husband and I needed to be in the Tacoma area for work and could not have chosen a lovelier place to spend the month of June. The owners, Laura and Marty, are gracious and quite fun! I enjoy cooking and was never in need of anything while preparing a meal- the kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. When I did not want to cook, it was easy to choose a restaurant from the many within walking distance. Walk a block to Fireman’s Park or just a bit further to Dock Street to enjoy not only water views, but also a picturesque view of Mt. Rainier. The bed is big and comfortable- a comfortable bed is important! Though a car is not necessary, Seattle, Mt. Rainier, Gig Harbor, and many wineries and breweries are easy to access with one. We live over 2,000 miles way and look forward to our next visit!
