We think you will find this place to be just like home, so come sit back, relax and enjoy all the things Montana and Yellowstone have to offer.

SIZE OF THE HOME: The cabin is approximately 1100 square feet. Cabin has a large rear deck and an additional circular patio just below with a BBQ and additional seating for dining and star gazing.

The kitchen island seats four comfortably and a BBQ grill and deck seating is provided for outdoor meals.

LIVING ROOM: The living room adjoins the kitchen and dining area. Furnished with brand new leather couch and chairs for all the comforts of home.

About Derek

When traveling, I specifically try to include a different and unique National Park in every journey.  I find that my favorite adventures arise along the back roads scattered between our great national treasures.

I came to the Gardiner area to work and play in Yellowstone National  Park years ago.  After that one first summer in Yellowstone National Park I knew I had found my true home.   I'm currently employed by a Yellowstone Park concessionaire and in my spare time I enjoy researching Yellowstone history.

Derek purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Derek chose Gardiner

Wanderlust Haven is a special quiet place and you know it as soon as you walk through the door.  Together with the fun, fresh small town atmosphere of Gardiner, MT your Yellowstone visit will be sure to be a high point of your adventure.

What makes this cabin unique

Due to the proximity of Yellowstone National Park, deer, elk and bison have been seen on the property and in the town of Gardiner. Bring your spotting scope and view wildlife in the park from the privacy of the rear deck. The Roosevelt Arch and the North Entrance to Yellowstone is only one mile away!

Guestbook comments from the manager

THE Perfect Homebase to enjoy Yellowstone!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! We were so blessed to find this new property to enjoy during our first trip to Yellowstone National Park. The cabin is brand new and so thoughtfully and richly furnished with the utmost in comfort and everything we would ever need. The view from the cabin and the back deck is absolutely stunning.

We had a chance to meet Derek, the owner and were so blessed by his hospitality and eagerness to help us get the most out of our visit. We enjoyed learning about Derek and Stacy and how they both came out from New York. Stacy left an invaluable binder chocked full of useful information in the cabin.

Before we even set foot on the property, we were impressed. We had to move the dates for stay and Christy was so helpful and made it so easy.

All in all, this is an absolutely fantastic property to stay while enjoying Yellowstone, and the owners are so awesome! We were received blessing upon blessing. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. We will definitely be back here on our next trip to Yellowstone.

Perfect home for two couples enjoying the Lamar Valley

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights at Wanderlust while viewing Wildlife in the Lamar Valley. It was fully appointed with all the essential items we needed for our short stay. Upon arrival we received a bottle of wine, fruit and healthy snacks. The home was impeccably clean and the beds were comfortable. The view over Gardiner is beautiful! We couldn't have picked a better place!

Montana,Yellowstone, Wanderlust- Location, Location, Location Superb Accomodations

  • 5 of 5

Did I say it is Located near the North Gate of YS! The original old North Entrance gate is even visible from the awe inspiring deck at the rear of Wanderlust. Did I say it is perched above the vibrant town of Gardiner with its shops and great food. Did I say Wanderlust is located on an easy drive to the Bozeman Yellowstone Airport. Did I say Wanderlust is a fresh contemporary mountain style home loaded with creature comforts to rest ones weary bones after a full day at YS. Did I say the rear of Wanderlust has a postcard perfect view through expansive Pella Windows of the hills and mountains to the west of Gardiner. Locate a travel date and make your trip a memorable experience by staying at Wanderlust. This veteran VRBOER highly recommends this comfortable lodging .

Owner's Response: Thank you Jon! We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope your journeys bring you back our way sometime soon. I'm impressed you recognized the quality Pella doors and windows we used in the construction of Wanderlust Haven. Nothing beats them for energy savings, noise reduction and appearance. It always makes us smile when our guests comment on all the little details. We put a lot of thought and energy into this project. So glad you had a great time and we hope to see you guys again soon!

Gardiner, the northern gateway to Yellowstone National Park, is in the heart of Yellowstone's Northern Range, where the Gardner flows into the Yellowstone River. Founded in 1880, the town is surrounded by the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness to the east, the Gallatin Wilderness to the north and west, and the world's first and most famous national park, Yellowstone National Park, to the south.

This area is home to the most diverse collections of large wildlife species in the lower 48 states including bison, bighorn sheep, elk, pronghorn, grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, and deer.

The Yellowstone River, the longest undammed river in the lower 48, runs through Gardiner. Which means you shouldn’t leave this area without getting wet. About three miles up the road is the Boiling River, the only hot springs in the park where you can legally soak. Or a scenic drive to the North, you'll also find Chico Hot Springs.

Montana’s Yellowstone Country doesn’t stop at the views, you’ve got to get into the heart of it. Hike it and bike it. Fly-fish and float it. Devour a meal at one of our classic steakhouses or contemporary bistros. Tour one of our downtown’s galleries, shops and cafés. A place where adventure and hospitality are second to none.
