The location was awesome! You have access to a backyard, beach, outdoor dining area, and a lovely dock and covered patio area over the water. We spent a lot of time on the screened porch. There are both shady and sunny areas to enjoy. The cottage is cozy. The hosts were very quick to respond to questions. I would recommend.
We stayed here while attending a family reunion. The house was very cozy and our family really enjoyed it. My 2 y.o. granddaughter was so excited to learn that the host had a children’s coloring book with real crayons! She has just recently moved from water markers to real crayons so this was VERY exciting to her. My daughter and I really enjoyed relaxing on the small beach at the edge of the lake in the evening after visiting with relatives. We will definitely stay here again. The only recommendation we have to make it even better is to add a mattress topper to the front bedroom mattress. We are looking forward to coming again!!

Looks like you had a beautiful afternoon! Thank you so much for your suggestion about the mattress topper. We will definitely look into it!
Host are wonderful, they accommodated us when I originally scheduled the wrong date.Very clean and it made our stay so much better than a hotel room. We were in town for our daughters bball tournament and with a smaller sibling it was way more enjoyable…
Loved out stay at the cottage. Thank you for sharing you home with us. We had such a relaxing week and loved exploring the lake . Slept so well never got to see a sunrise but the sunsets were amazing.
Quaint peaceful location on the lake. Clean, cozy cottage. We didn’t cook any meals during our stay but ate conveniently at the kitchen bar. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Ample supplies on site. Appreciated use of the kayaks. Nice screened in porch.
This is very nice older house. It was cool to see all older stuff inside. Very clean and well equipped. Absolutely beautiful view and definitely recommend !
Beautiful location on the lake. Cottage was cute and comfortable. Loved the screened porch! Gail and Bob you were great hosts. Thank you so much for sharing a little piece of your paradise with us. Tina and Len
We spent Memorial Day weekend here (3 nights). Our group was a family of four (two adults and two kids, ages 6 and 8). The cottage was cozy and just the right size for our family. The dock and view are incredible. The house was well stocked and had plenty of sensible conveniences like power outlets and ample towel hooks (not every house does, right?!). We spent Saturday morning hiking and exploring Lake Waccamaw State Park and the afternoon we spent swimming and hanging out at the dock. We ate dinner at the one restaurant in town on Saturday evening. We drove over to Wilmington (40 minutes) for the day on Sunday. Spent lots of time with coffee and a book on the screened in porch. The TV has Netflix access and we brought our Nintendo Switch so we had some screen entertainment. I’m a birder, brought my binoculars, and spotted lots of birds. A barred owl was a highlight. Our kids counted 40 gators in the canal over the course of the trip! If you love nature and want a quiet and simple getaway, this a great choice for a vacation spot. I’ve lived in NC my whole life and had never been to LW and really enjoyed learning about it at the Nature Center at the State Park. Hills Grocery is ten minutes away. Our only complaints were not great WiFi, the rain (but we need it!), and lots of bird poop on the dock furniture, but we’re low maintenance and managed. Gail was very hospitable and communicative. The home is clearly loved and well cared for. Loved all the waterfowl paintings!

So glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like you had a ton of amazing experiences! Hopefully you got to hear the barred owl as well. We are actually working on a different arrangement for the cushions on the pier. Those dang birds! HAHAHA!!! Hope to have you again!
This house was the perfect location. Close to boat ramp and shopping. The beach area at the water was the perfect spot to relax. Host was very nice and was always available for questions.
Perfect cottage on the lake! Gail and Bob are wonderful host

We have loved Lake Waccamaw all of our lives. As children we spent summers here swimming, fishing, and making memories with family and friends. As a young married couple we bought our first lake property, and in 2002 we made Lake Waccamaw our permanent home.
We have owned The Cottage since 2001 and have enjoyed welcoming guests since then. One of our greatest joys is sharing this special place with others and helping families create memories of their own.
We love the peaceful pace of life here-the beautiful sunrises, the sandy shoreline, the abundant wildlife, and the simple pleasure of spending time outside. Whether you are her to relax on the porch, watch the birds, play in the water or reconnect with family and friends, we hope you'll come to love Lake Waccamaw as much as we do.
Our home is right next door if you need anything during your stay but we are equally as happy to give you all the privacy you want to enjoy your getaway.
