  • A relaxing, quiet, peaceful getaway.

"My husband and I just returned from beautiful Lake Hartwell. We really enjoyed staying at this property for many reasons. The cottage was beautiful, well kept, and in a very quiet location. We were able to bring our dog Sassafras along which was an added bonus. The dock had plenty of room and the water was deep for swimming. The water temperature was perfect this time of year! The owners were pleasant and very attentive to our needs. This cottage is the perfect getaway. We feel relaxed and rejuvinated after our trip. Planning to go back next year! Thank you Diane and Roy."

  • Great home, Great Lake Location, Really Enjoyed Our Stay

"This was a great rental property. We really enjoyed our stay and boating on Lake Hartwell. Comfortable cottage/home with an open floor plan. Master is on one end of house and other 2 bedrooms on the other end of the house. Very clean and as described. King-sized bed in Master and Queen or Full in 2nd bedroom were very comfortable. The 2 sets of bunk beds in the 3rd room were not quite comfortable for our college-aged sons, but they were typical bunk beds, intended for younger kids. Internet, Direct TV, Washer/Dryer and A/C worked great. We enjoyed going out on Lake Hartwell to ski and tube with a boat we rented nearby and docked at the rental. We also enjoyed the quiet location to swim off the dock. We went to Tallulah Falls (about an hour or so away) to hike in the gorge and slide down Sliding Rock and traveled a bit on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We got haircuts in Hartwell (see Connie at Depot Designs) and ordered a fabulous cake from Market 50 for a birthday celebration. Nice restaurants are not nearby but Market 50 has a fabulous deli for lunch. We grilled or cooked most nights and went into Anderson one evening for dinner. Stephanie (owner) was very easy to work with. She answered all our questions, was flexible and very personable. It's unusual to find a nice place we can bring our dog. Since we stayed for 11 nights, we really wanted a place we could bring our dog rather than kennel him. Everything worked out great. The only slight inconvenience was having to go to the local transfer station to dump our trash, The transfer station is very close, you just have to time it so you can take your trash when the transfer station is open (open everyday but Sunday). Thanks, Stephanie!"

  • Quiet piece of heaven

"We rented this property for a long weekend getaway for our 18th wedding anniversary. So glad we chose the Astonished Fish! We only left the lake house once to venture into town to get supplies at the local Ingles. Otherwise we were out on the dock fishing and swimming or lounging on the porch overlooking the lake. The kitchen is stocked will all you could need and the grill is in perfect working condition. You can tell this owner takes care of the property and is seems as if it is undergoing some remodeling - we like what we see! :) Thank you for allowing us the pleasure of staying!"

  • Will not be disappointed

"This cottage is adorable. We loved the master suite and the cute bunk room for the kids. My favorite spot was the covered porch with the hammock and fans to keep you cool. The walk to the lake is level and easy. Although it's just a platform dock we brought a canopy to keep on the dock and had plenty of room for chairs and tied up a boat and jet skis. The cove is busy but we were still able to swim off the dock just fine. The owner made great use of the space and it's very cozy and clean. You may feel far from things but it wasn't a bad drive to get to the grocery store maybe 13 minutes. We loved this cottage and would stay here again. The owner is super nice and more than willing to help you find what you need."
