Location: Herbage Townhomes, Steamboat Springs, Northwest, Colorado, USA (Hayden Airport-30min - On Apres Ski Way-700 yds from Gondola) View Map
Accommodations: Townhome, 3 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 3 Baths (Sleeps 10-12)
Keywords: Townhome, chalet, hot tub, large
This beautiful, spacious (2,200 sq ft), mountainside townhouse (end unit) will sleep twelve people without using the living room, will seat ten people in the kitchen, is only 700 yards from the ski area and has its own hot tub on the deck.
Being an end unit there is only one common wall, there are windows on 3 sides bringing in a lot of light, and there is no unit above, below, or behind making it much quieter than most. The three bedrooms are each on a different level and each has its own bath; bedrooms have queen-sized beds with electric blankets, a loft with two twin beds, and a den with a day bed/trundle and a queen-size sofa-bed. The master bedroom has new furniture and bedding (for 2010) and we just recently bought new furniture for the 3rd bedroom.
The large living room (20x15) has new carpeting and is furnished with 2 sofas, a Lazyboy lounge chair, one other chair, an entertainment center with TV, DVD, VCR, stereo with CD/tape player and an iPod adapter, gas fireplace and broadband internet access. The hot tub is located on the private 15 foot deck right off the living room. It is professionally serviced weekly (before you arrive).
The den (see photo on next page), a separate room off the living room, has its own 20" TV, VCR, DVD player, sofa and lounge chair allowing your group to split up to enjoy different activities (great for kids). The loft also has two Lazyboy chairs offering a third sitting area.
The large, fully equipped, kitchen seats 10 using the oak table and island counter. It is a completely separate room (not a galley), has newer appliances, parquet floor, and a TV. All of the maintenance is handled by our own manager who lives nearby. All basic amenities such as soap, shampoo, tissue, lotion, laundry supplies, 20 sets of towels, all linens, are supplied. Also, each of the three bedrooms has electric blankets. Hair dryers and humidifiers (very important) are in each bedroom as well.
The FREE shuttle bus stops directly outside the unit or you can walk the 700 yards down to the ski area. An added benefit is that we have a SKI LOCKER at the mountain that is free for our guests.
Two nights rent will reserve. We will then send a formal Acknowledgement confirming dates, rates, and balance due date. We will email you the key lockbox combination upon receipt of the balance. Click on our calendar (below) for availability and then click on "View comments" for renter comments taken from our Guest Register.

3 BR/3 BA Townhome - Hot Tub/Pool - Sleeps 10+ Near Gondola
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Herbage Townhomes
For years, we traveled out west trying different ski areas. For some reason, we always gravitated back to Steamboat. First, we simply love the mountain. The terrain is such that I still need to pull out the trailmap at times even though I've skied here many times. I love that there are very distinct, separate areas and different types of terrain. I remember some ski resorts we've skied, regardless of the trail you started skiing, you would wind up at the very same place - not at Steamboat. Second, we love that it is a "real" town. Their was a Steamboat Springs before skiing was invented. It's a real town with real people. Lastly, being about 3 hours from Denver, you avoid the day trippers and weekend crowds. I like that as well.
In the few years we've owned it, we had so many lasting memories.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
The access to the free shuttle is right outside the front door. The complex has many mature aspen trees ... you just get a wonderful sense of privacy. It's a short 10 minute walk to the base area if you feel like walking and with our ski locker, you won't need to drag ski equipment around everywhere you go.
The summertime was quite a surprise to me. It's simply beautiful. Lots of trails to hike or mountain bike. The golf courses are first rate and the town does a wonderful job with summer events like the summer concert series, food and wine expositions, etc.
Owner's Map of Herbage Townhomes
Gail and I currently live San Francisco, CA where I work within the banking industry in an IT role where I apparently specialize in working for companies that will soon be bought (3 moves in 5 years). Gail is a teacher where she teaches both science and Spanish. We are currently "empty nesters" as our children are essentially on their own. Mark is a working musician in Boston and Stefanie just received her Masters in Education from Rutgers University (Dad's alma mater).
We love to ski and love to get out to our townhome whenever we can. Ultimately, we hope to make it our mountain hideaway where we will spend 6 months a year and be an attraction for future grandchilden (not yet, though..).

Our family of 6 plus 1 boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kamin's townhome. The floorplan allowed plenty of privacy balanced with togetherness. The hot tub was glorious, we used it nightly. This property is right on the Steamboat bus route which was very convenient. The ski locker at the base was a great perk. The kitchen was completely stocked with basics (coffee filters, spices, condiments etc) which made cooking in so easy and even had wine stoppers to cork out leftovers. Brilliant! Laundry detergent, softener and toiletries were also available. Our only "want" was for a grill... John was very helpful pre visit sending us an email that contained abundant tips and recommendations. We highly recommend using Black Tie Ski rental for equipment. They came to the townhouse to fit us, so no lines or crowds. We also purchased our lift tickets ahead of time which saved us a bit of money and lines as well (Steamboat.com) A must for breakfast or lunch is Winona's downtown. Definitely worth the wait. Mother Nature was uncooperative providing us with only a dusting of fresh snow during our week long stay, but the Mountain still provided us with plenty of challenging terrain. We would recommend this property to family and friends without hesitation.
Owner response:Thanks for the nice review. Hope to see you next time.

This was, all the way around, the best condo we have ever stayed in! It is warm, very comfortable, and was everything we were hoping it to be. We had nine people in our party, five were small kids and it was the perfect layout. There were so many rooms that our children disappeared to hang out every night. With a humidifier in every room, nobody had the dry skin or cracked lips that are so common to a ski trip. The private hot tub on our own balcony was fabulous. This condo is fully stocked with everything from detergent to hot cocoa to spices to hand lotion. It truly felt like home. With a party of nine, the locker was an invaluable addition to the stay. We filled it at the end of the day and were able to ride home unemcumbered. More importantly, I have never encountered an owner more available and ready to assist than John Kamin. He not only was helpful with all our questions, he was truly concerned with our well-being during our stay. He even went as far as to accommodate a last minute family medical emergency. Our family has stayed in many amazing condos in Colorado over the years, and have finally found THE home away from home that we will return to again and again.

Our family of 5 had a great ski week at this Townhouse. The unit is roomy and very well supplied. It is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath unit but could sleep many more with the daybeds and sofa sleepers. The bus stop is only a short walk from the front door and we never waited more than 5-10 minutes for a bus. The ski locker at the mountain base is a nice added convenience. The hot tub was relaxing after each day of skiing. Our email contacts with John, the owner, were pleasant and helpful. We would definitely rent this unit again.

We had a fantastic ski vacation in Steamboat Springs at this property. The unit is very well furnished and fully equipped for a no hassle vacation. The property is very clean and meticulously maintained by the owner and it fully met our expectations and the descriptions we read on the web site. The owner also provides very detailed information on how to use the appliances along with detail information to help you find your way around Steamboat (very helpful for a first time visitor to the area). The condo is also very convenient to town and Gondola Square. It is a very easy walk (5 to 10 minutes) to the Gondola (or if you are too tired after a full day of skiing, it is right along one of the bus routes). Also the unit has a ski locker at the Gondola which is very very convenient. This makes it very easy to drop off your skis and spend some time in the square after skiing. I would definitely rent this unit again (as we are already considering for next year).

We have rented condos in many ski resorts in the U.S. and this was the best equipped and laid out. There was enough room for all 6 of us to be together or to be apart. The ski buses were on schedule. John's emails beforehand were friendly and welcoming just as their condo was. We would definitely recommend this condo and would stay there again.

We had a grand time. We especially enjoyed the soothing luxury of the hot tub and the convenience of the ski locker. The owners' attention to detail made our time wonderfully relaxing and uncomplicated, including great "how to" instructions posted throughout the unit. The townhouse was well-stocked and well-equipped. Thanks, John and Gail, for your many courtesies.

Our stay was with out a hitch. We had 3 families and enjoyed the home very much. The multi-level home was perfect for all of us. We stayed at the mountain during the day and retreated to the home in the evening for rest and relaxation. The bus was easy and always right on time across from the house. We would love to be regulars at your house for many years to come. Thanks so much for the hospitality.

We had a family group of 9 stay in your condo 2/14/09-2/21/09. What a great week! The condo had plenty of space for all of us to spread out. We all love to cook, and ate in for most meals. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were able to easily cook for a crowd. We found the hot tub to be larger than it appeared in the pictures--and greatly appreciated at the end of a day on the slopes. The ski locker was fantastic! The owner was very responsive to our needs throughout the process--from initial reservation through a follow up call after our return home. This condo is everything that is advertised on the vrbo site. We will return! Thanks John and Gail!
