Location: Branford, Connecticut, USA (20 minutes East of New Haven; 2 hours from New York & Boston)

Accommodations:  Seaside Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

Summertime: bask in the sun on the beach, or curl up with a book in the shade in the garden. Autumn: walk the shores, or sit by the fire. Spring: enjoy the bloom of flowers and the salt air. Every season has its own delights here on the Connecticut shore.

Halfway between New Your City and Boston, and situated at the back of a cluster of houses at 98 Limewood Avenue, the Ennis Cottage is away from street and traffic noise, but within 200 feet of a private beach. The cottage has been completely remodeled and is tastefully furnished and supervised by the owners.

In a minute one can sit with a panoramic view of Long Island Sound, between Haycock point and Indian Neck, looking out toward Green Island and the Thimble Islands. Fishing and boating are excellent.

A small park within one mile offers tennis, basketball, and a children's playground. A marketplace, liquor store, laundry, and three restaurants are within walking distance, and a larger mall and churches are with a few miles. The Branford Green hosts evning concerts, the Guilford Green that has a five acres of lawn, with Music on weekends, live Shakespeare on stage, surrounded by antique buildings with shops each unique and different from each other. Both towns offer Day Spas, Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop, Gift Stores, Clothing and Shoe Shops, Excellent Restaurants, Historical Homes, (third largest collection in CT) Museums, Orchards that offer fruit picking throughout the season. Local Farms offer Fresh organic produce, and August offers The Guilford Fair c.1859.

15 minutes away come aboard a narrated cruise of the Thimble Islands, 18 minutes north to Clinton Outlet stores, 20 minutes away is the Essex Steam Train & River Boat that can take you to Gillette Castle State Park, or to the Opera House on the river, and 45 minutes you can try you hand at Fox Woods Casino or enjoy Mohegan Sun.

The entire house has been renovated. living room has wall-to-wall carpeting, a new full size futon and a love seat, several chairs, bureau, television, VCR, telephone, cathedral ceiling, wireless internet connection, and stove with gas log.

The kitchen is new and well equipped with gas stove, microwave and grilling oven, refrigerator, pots and pans, dishes, glasses, and silverware. The bedroom has a double bed with drawers beneath, closet, built in air conditioner. Wall-to-wall carpeting. Guests bring own towels and bed linen, all double bed size. Towels and sheets can be provided for an additional fee.

This is a completely remodeled cottage which is quiet, clean and comfortable.

We rent Sat. 2 p.m. to Sat. 10 a.m. Low season (4/19 - 6/21)(9/13-11/15) $750
Mid(6/21 - 7/12 and 8/30 - 9/13)$800/week. High Season(7/12 to 8/30)$850/wk
We require a 50% deposit with balance due 30 days before your arrival. Once we
reach that 30 day point, the rental fee is nonrefundable unless we are able to
rebook the property. If we rebook the property we will refund a prorated share of
the rental fee for each day we are able to fill less a $25 cancellation fee.
A $100 security deposit will be refunded if the place is left clean and  without
damage. Sheets and towels can be provided for you for additional fee.

  • We have just spent 2 wonderful weeks in the Ennis Cottage from Oct. 4 - Oct. 18, 2008. It was wonderful! The cottage was just what we had dreamed of: comfortable and with all the modern conveniences imaginable. At the same time it was so cozy and warm pleasant, that we felt at home right away. And our hosts were just the kindest and most hospitable people! We could not have wanted a better place to spend a fall fortnight in New England. The weather, the house, the location, the kind owners were just perfect.

The tranquility of the surrounding ocean shore islands and friendly and hospitable atmosphere in the very neighborhood recharge us for many days ahead.   • Ennis Cottage is a charming, convenient, comfortable place to saty. We had a great week in Branford, enjoyed the Thimble Islands and several VERY good seafood meals, but mostly we loved the beach and reading in the quiet backyard and the friendly neighbors (including the owners, Ron and Bernie--they are just great.)   • Comments: Dear Ron and Bernie, We were guests at your Ennis Cottage on the Branford shore last month. It was one of the nicest vacations we have taken. The bungalow was tastefully furnished, immaculate,and comfortable. The back yard was especially nice and private. Being located right next to the ocean was fantastic. We could be flexible about spending time in the mornings or afternoons in the sun and surf. It was nice to have our choice of eating home in a fully equipped kitchen or choosing one of the many nearby restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised to find so many attractions so close. The ferry to Block Island and the trip to Mystic were at the top of our list. We were amazed at the size of Yale and enjoyed walking around the campus and town. The nearby light houses and little town of Stratton was a real find. Since we enjoyed our leisure time on the beach we did not have time to do everything and therefore we are looking forward to returning next year. Bob Troha and Family

  • Our third stay in the Ennis cottage was delightful. Each year it gets better. The new renovations made the cottage stay much more enjoyable. The lighting was great, the new windows work well, and the renovated kitchen and bath were major improvements. The raised ceiling makes the living area appear much larger.   • Well I can't believe it's time to think about summer vacation and I haven't written a comment about our stay at the cottage LAST summer. It was GREAT. Ron and Bernie are warm, wonderful hosts..the cottage was perfect for us.. the location couldn't have been better..and we had so much fun taking in the sites on foot, and touring the area by car. Great restaurants are within close proximity and we enjoyed sampling several!! We'll go back for sure. Can't wait to see the renovations. Does the screen door still creak???? Dave and Tura Vancini
