Why the Owner Chose Joshua Tree
I am an avid rock climber and bought this house because of the location to the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park- just 1/2 mile. It is also located in the Monument Manor where most homes are on 5 acres or more, giving everyone room to breathe!
The Unique Benefits at this House
The back yard is very private. I have added a hot tub along with some more landscaping. I want people to feel as if they are out in nature while still having the comforts of home, and I think The Rio House provides this.
Owner's Map of Joshua Tree
I came to Joshua Tree because of the solitude and beautiful desert night skies. I love to travel and experience new and interesting places.

Wonderful family weekend

We were visiting our two children and their spouses in Los Angeles and thought that spending a weekend at Joshua Tree would be a great opportunity to catch up with each other. We saw the listing for the Rio House and liked what we read about it, so made our reservation. It was the perfect place for us! Its many amenities and beautiful setting, with quiet surroundings and hiking trails, both within the surrounding area and in the nearby Joshua Tree National Park, gave us plenty of opportunities to be together and also to spend some quiet time reading, cooking in the gas grill and relaxing in the wonderful hot tub in the backyard. Christa was extremely helpful, answering all our questions and making sure that everything was ready for us. Highly recommend the Rio House!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your review! I sometimes forget to point out that there are many hiking trails right around the house so you don't have to drive into the park if you don't want to. For those of you with pets, this is a great benefit as our National Park will not allow pets on most of their trails. So glad you enjoyed your visit to Joshua Tree, we hope to see you again!- Christa

Simply Perfect

We really enjoyed staying at the Rio property. The description & photos were accurate - no unpleasant surprises. Like other guests, we appreciated the well-stocked kitchen; all our meals were homemade. The reason for the trip to Joshua Tree was to view the Perseid meteor showers, but the full moon interfered with the visuals. Remember to check the moon's stages if visiting for stargazing. Otherwise, perfection! We highly recommend a Sound Bath at the Integratron. Finally, sincere kudos to Christa! She was attentive, informative, efficient and personable. Her husband Brian seemed nice, too! We would stay in any property that is managed by the Cranston couple.
Owner response:Thank you for your wonderful words Barbara! It was great to see you and your friends at the Integratron fundraising event for the Mojave Desert Land Trust. You are right about the sound bath..this is something to experience for sure! Hope to see you again in the near future.

I would highly recommend the Rio House to anyone (families, couples, friends, etc.) visiting the Joshua Tree area. It is within minutes of Joshua Tree National Park. It is also close to shopping, dining, gas, etc. The house was immaculate and more than just basic amenities were provided. Nothing beats a meal on the outside patio, an outside fire at night, a soak in the hot tub, relaxing on a hammock or just star gazing and listening to the sounds of coyotes in the distance.
Owner response:So glad you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for your positive feedback. The outdoor area is "new and improved" from last year with a long table and 6 chairs to have your meals at, more patio chairs to lounge around in,reclining chairs plus a hammock. I'm happy you were able to enjoy them all. Thanks again for staying with us!

We Really Love Rio House!

This was our second 3-night stay at Rio House in as many years. We returned because we really love the house, Joshua Tree and the park. The house is incredibly comfortable; it's spacious, clean and has all the comforts of home. We left the windows upstairs open at night because we enjoyed hearing the coyotes and were exited to awake every morning to the crisp desert air and the sound of the wild birds. The bed was comfortable and the entertainment center more than adequate. The hot tub was amazing; we used it both day and night and enjoyed the moonlit desert nights. And we enjoyed very much the privacy provided by the home's 5-acres. We will definitely return to Rio House in the future.
Owner response:Thank you for staying with us again! So glad you got to experience the silence of our desert nights by opening the windows and hearing the wildlife- we love the sounds of the desert as well...so peaceful. We hope to see you again next year!

Rio House review

We felt really relaxed at this house, breakfasts on the patio. The the most important thing for us, it was clean. We got the name of the mattress because it was so comfortable. On the 5 acre property we saw numerous wild flowers and flowering cacti. A roadrunner passed by while we were having breakfast outside. Lots of room to spread out. One regret: We couldn't stay at Rio House for our whole vacation as it was booked. We recommend this property.
Owner response:Thanks again for staying with us! Happy to hear that the downstairs bed was as comfy as the Tempur-Pedic mattress in the upstairs bedroom. Hope you also had the opportunity to soak in the Artesian hot tub under the desert night sky counting the shooting stars! Hope to see you again! -Christa
