Why the Owner Chose Chimney Rock

When Dianne and I made a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains 40 years ago we fell in love with the scenic beauty of the overlooks, streams, rivers, hicking trails and wildlife that is abundent to this area. We thought "one day we would like to retire to these mountains" and our dream came true when we found this place after 2 years of searching for the perfect spot. The clean air, fish in the lake, apples on the trees and sounds of nature in the darkness of night made our decission to buy an easy one. Our main motivation was to have a place we could retire to one day and till then, enjoy with our family and friends and share with those who want to experience the beauty and peace that the mountains have to offer.

The Unique Benefits at this Arts & Crafts Bungalow Home

One of the most memorable benefits of being in my home was the time we were drinking coffee at daybreak on our deck. While sitting in our rocking chairs looking out across the lake with the foggy mist rising off the waters, all of a sudden about 24 wild turkeys came marching across the bank between the mountain stream and the lake (about 175 feet from us. Some of their beards were dragging the ground. Another time, early in the morning, while standing on the deck, I saw a golden eagle perched on a limb next to the mountain stream when I heard its mate cry out across the lake on another tree. Then another flew to a tree directly across from me on the lake when its mate cried out from the other end of the lake. Four eagles at one sighting, a rare experience indeed, and I didn't have my camera but I do have the memory forever embedded in my mind. Creating memories like this is what it's all about. There are many more enjoyable moments to share like the time my son caught a 10-lb bass on a 6-lb line and the deer that came up to the apple trees to eat apples just below the deck. These are a few of the many benefits we enjoy while staying in our home.

Owner's Map of Chimney Rock

Dianne and I on the Pinnacle lookout at the top of our mountain. On a clear day with binoculars you can see the tall buildings of Charlotte (97 miles away by the mountain roads) and on a clear night the lights glow on the horizon.

    • Our family of four adults stayed the week of August 12, 2006, and had a great time. The cabin is just a few years old, extremely clean, attractive, and very well appointed. We enjoyed using the kitchen and it was very handy having a washer/dryer. Great porch with chairs and a covered area with a dining table. Very picturesque setting. Millions of stars at night. Sounds of the country--frogs, cicadas, etc. Apple trees, deer. Lots of windows to let in the cool mountain breezes. Highly recommended.

      Homeowner Response:
Connie & Richard, Dianne and I are very glad you had a good time and hope you return in the future. We really appreciate the clean condition you left the cabin in. Thank you.

    • Fantastic spot. Quiet, easy to get to. Lots of day trips within reasonable distance. We had a welcome basket from our hosts, and beautiful property with a creek, waterfall, and pristine lake right out the front window. At night deer came in to feed on the apples in the back yard. We even had a bonfire one night!! The cabin has all the amenities, including, satellite TV!! We were relaxed and had a wonderful time. We'll definitely be back. Deb and Rick from FLA.

      Homeowner Response:
Deb and Rick' Dianne and I are glad you had a great time and look foward to your return as our guest in the future
