About Melissa Scott
That's me, the owner, with my adorable son Cole. Hence the huge smile on my face. I am a Special Education teacher, lover of life and nature, and most importantly...a mother who is supremely dedicated to that adorable blonde boy.

Why Melissa Scott chose Edneyville
What?? I only have 2000 words to encapsulate why THIS property is so amazing? My son and I relocated to this area several years ago when I took a local teaching position. I started looking at local homes with the intent of buying a home in downtown Asheville and capitalizing on the seemingly endless exciting opportunities it offered. But then... I fell madly in LOVE. With THIS HOME!!! When I first saw this place, I was blown away. I couldn't BELIEVE I was lucky enough to find this breathtaking mountain cottage perched on the side of the mountain, surrounded by water, AND in such close proximity to Asheville, Hendersonville, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Let me backtrack and tell you JUST how enchanting this location was; I was willing to put in a full asking price offer within hours of seeing the home, and it was in SHAMBLES! It was a dilapidated shell at that point; a foreclosure that had been gutted. No plumbing, electrical, flooring. No kitchen. Nothing. But it was IN THIS MAGICAL SPOT! We were surrounded by trees, birds, wildflowers, a trickling waterfall, and a rushing river. It felt like no place I had ever visited. I knew that I had so much love in my heart for this place that I could make it into a dream home. It would be worth the tremendous amount of hard work and suffering that lied ahead. So...we moved in. We put mattresses on the floor and camped out indoors while we worked. Our bathroom was the woods. Our shower was the river. We went to bed when it was dark because we had no electricity. This was our life for several months, but we didn't even care! We loved this setting so much it was worth it. Over the next 5 years, with much love and attention to detail, we made this place into the beautiful place you now see. We hope you will enjoy the magic of this place as much as we have, while we now spend some time in our city condo. We are so happy to share our home with you! What makes this Cabin unique
In a nutshell, it's the ABUNDANCE of things to do within a few miles (hike, bike, fish, canoe, shop etc), combined with a luxurious retreat while at the house relaxing and enjoying the water features. Several miles down the road towards Asheville on Hwy 74 (let me point out that this gorgeous section of road is a NC Scenic Bypass), lies Hickory Nut Gap Farms. You can get local grass fed beef & seasonal vegetables. They also have a barn play area for kids and a horse farm if you enjoy riding. Go several miles further and you are in Fairview, where you can visit a local creamery if you love fresh cheese, or a country Amish store. A few miles further puts you in Asheville... Where there is more to do than you will ever have time to do! We have lived here 5 years now, and are still exploring new restaurants and activities. If you had traveled a few miles in the opposite direction on Hwy 74, there is Chimney Rock. The park is amazing and offers some of the best views of the area, as well as Medina's Bistro, our local favorite. Their biscuits and gravy, and AMAZING homemade cinnamon rolls, are amazing! A mile further and you are in Lake Lure, with a waterpark and beach, also offering boat rentals. Or cut across on Hwy 64 (only a few miles back) and you will head into Hendersonville, another great little town. This is truly the ideal location! Do you like hiking? You wouldn't believe how many hiking trails there are in this area, including the many off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Have you heard of DuPont State Forest and its amazing waterfalls, as seen in the Hunger Games? Sliding Rock? Look it up! And PLEASE look up Asheville, Lake Lure, Hendersonville, Black Mountain, Brevard, etc. before visiting. There are so many things to do! The surrounding areas are ALL wonderful! We have flyers regarding local attractions on the table when you arrive at the house, along with a notebook with details regarding personal favorites of my son and I, based upon 5 wonderful years here.

Wonderful cabin and beautiful surroundings
Great Mountain Getaway
What a wonderful place. Very clean, was stocked with all necessities (toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, shampoo/conditioner etc.). Everything was as pictured and described, but even better in person. We could have just stayed at the house the entire time, enjoyed the stream, hot tub, multiple decks and places to hang out. The deck off of the kitchen is wonderful, you hear a rushing river , so peaceful and relaxing and you can scoot over to the very comfortable hammock and hear same water sounds.
The house décor is very cool. Beds very comfortable and clearn. Towels and sheets super nice. The kids room is very cute, has tons of toys , books, games, movies.
The hot tub is so fun and nice, enjoy in the evenings or early morning.
We took in Lake Lure, Chimney Rock. Enjoyed many local restaurants (Larkins, Lastrada both very good). The Mexican place and Ginny's service not so great. We hiked at Hickory Nut Gorge and did the Biltmore Estate. What a great trip. We have a seven year old Daughter and it was perfect. So much to do, so little time. We will definitely be back again soon!!
A must stay!
We truly enjoyed this place! Melissa thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. The kids had a blast from the toys, books, and outside area. It was a magical place for them and us too! We recommend staying here! The house was just as enjoyable as our adventures outside of it. We will definitely stay here again when we return!
This might be my favorite rental that my family has ever stayed in. Melissa has it beautifully decorated. The views in the mountains are amazing. The landscaping is incredible. My children loved the waterfall, hot tub, toys, books, and games. I love the tranquility- reading and drinking coffee on the back porch. I hope that we are able to come back again soon!
The Perfect Hideaway!
This is an amazing house! It has everything you could want in terms of accommodations, comfort and cleanliness. The 3-bedroom house has ample space with a fully stocked kitchen (all you need to bring is the food!) and bathroom along with a beautiful yard and deck. It’s located in the perfect spot to get away from it all and relax, yet just a short drive away from Asheville, Chimney Rock and Black Mountain. While the house is beautiful, the property was even better! This house has a gorgeous side yard with a hot tub, fire pit, patio and a private stream that we spent hours splashing around in! The homeowners were very friendly and quick to respond with any questions we had for them. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and Melissa and Cole were the most gracious hosts. Thank you!
This place was very beautiful and had a very unique design. My friends and I especially loved the outdoor area. Can't wait to come back!
