You will not find a more beautiful place to enjoy summer in the mountains than Lake Santeetlah. It is a true mountain lake with 80 miles of shoreline, 90% of which is National Forest. Unlike almost all other lakes in the south, Lake Santeetlah is privately owned and remains full through the entire year. With a mere 5 steps to the lake, the home is literally on the water. You can't get any closer to your private dock and beach area! Two kayaks are provided for you to explore the beautiful surroundings.
This newly renovated and professionally decorated home has a large, fully equipped gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.. The home has 2 comfortable living rooms. The main living room has a large stone fireplace with a 42' plasma TV above and a large deck just outside. Watch the sunset over the mountains while grilling the days catch! The upstairs living area also has a 42' plasma, surround sound stereo system and a screened porch. The 2 beautiful bedrooms have 'heavenly beds' made up with fine linens. There is a queen futon for additional sleeping. Every room has an amazing lake and mountain view!
This fantastic property is located in the much sought after 'Thunderbird Community'.
This location is quiet, serene and without a doubt on the best part of the lake! If you find it necessary to be in touch with the 'real world',the unlimited long distance and wireless internet allow you to work from the dock if you wish!
We look forward to your visit!

My husband and I have used VRBO for many trips and this is the first rental we stayed in where I told him "remind me to write a great review for this one!" Thanks so much LeAnne and Suzette. Your house is beautiful and even better than the pictures here. Everything was clean and ready to use upon arrival. All of our emails were answered promptly and communication was great. And it helped that the weather was perfect and we hit perfect peak for leaf-peeping. Our 20 month old son loved running up and down the beach to the water and we enjoyed a trip on the Great Smoky Mountain railroad, hiking, mtb-ing and more. Thanks again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children, tourists without a car.

Our first VRBO experience and won't be our last. Both LeeAnne and Suzette were very helpful especially with us being newbies to VRBO. Asked many questions and were all were answered to our satisfaction. Beautiful place. Pictures show the true beauty. Location was perfect for us to tour around on our motorcycle( tail of the dragon, moonshiner 28, cherohala skyway, newfound gap, cades cove, etc) Saw a lot in our short first visit to the area. Thanks for sharing your beautiful homeRecommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

This property was just as advertised. Lake Santeetlah is lovely and offers many opportunities for fishing, hiking, kayaking and relaxing. The home was well equipped, clean, and fashionable. Everything we needed was provided and two kayaks, noodles, gas grill, and picnic baskets were an added bonus. I would recommend this home but would advise it for 4 adults maximum. We enjoyed Fontana Dam, hiking in Joyce Kilmer, and the goodies from the local produce market. Best though was watching the sun rise and settle over lovely lake Santeetlah.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Glad you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for the nice review.

My wife Nancy and I stayed in this lovely home for our wedding anniversary last fall. We have vacationed regularly on Lake Santeetlah, in a variety of homes, but of all of them, this was our favorite by far. The home is well-equipped, with a fantastic kitchen, beautiful baths, and comfy, inviting beds. Wifi and entertainment options abound for those that must remain connected to the outside world, with multiple large screen televisions, premium cable, and surround systems for movies and music. Furnishings are decidedly upscale, and tremendously comfortable, and the owner has gone to great lengths to provide for your every need. The pictures on the site look good, but they don't really do the place justice. It's so much more than that. The home's best feature, by far, however, is the considerable outdoor living area. Multiple decks with upscale outdoor furnishings make it easy to spend hours lazing about in the crisp mountain air. An excellent grill is provided for outdoor cooking, and there's a beautiful screened porch upstairs, for those cool mornings or evenings when you want a little extra protection. Just down the steps from the main deck are the sandy beach and the dock, perfect for launching the kayaks, fishing, or just catching a few rays. And don't forget the lake itself. Conveniently located on a quiet neighborhood cove, a short paddle in one of the kayaks provided will take you to some of Santeetlah's most private and pristine areas. Just down the road, you'll find an outstanding little produce farm with fresh-picked fruits and vegetables, fresh baked breads, and some of the best pies you'll ever eat. Make a dinner reservation at Relia's Garden at the Nantahala Outdoor Center..... You won't be sorry. Over the ridge toward Fontana, you'll find a local artisan cheesemaker, and beekeepers with local mountain honey. More basic groceries can be had a few minutes away at a well-equipped Ingle's Grocery.... but you'll want to bring your favorite beverages with you, as it's a dry county. Take a hike in Joyce Kilmer Forest, mountain bike the nearby Tsali Trail area, or try whitewater rafting or kayaking at the Nantahala Outdoor center. Within a short drive you'll find some of America's most untouched forests, wildest rivers, and most beautiful vistas.... all out your back door, and one of NC's best kept secrets at the end of the dock. Book at least a week for your stay. You'll want to stay longer. We love this place. You will, too.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Wow...what an amazing review. People are going to think it's fake!! In all sincerity, we love that you love it and took the time to let others know what a special place it is.

Loved the cabin Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay last week. Absolutely breathtaking :) I have to say this was the most well appointed place I've ever stayed. We have rented a lot of cabins over the years and more often than not , have had to improvise with kitchen utensils/appliances,etc. I'm happy to say, I didn't have to unpack any of my "extras". Beautifully decorated, and I really appreciated the attention to details. We most definitely will be returning!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Your review makes the extra effort we take to make everything perfect worth it. Thank you so much for taking the time, we look forward to your return!

Thank you for sharing your piece of haven. This was one of the most relaxing vacations our family has had in years. The view from the house was absolutely amazing. Going out in the middle of the lake outside of the home in the kayaks at sunset was one of our favorite things. Great lake for boating and swimming. This is truly a lakefront luxury and we are glad you shared your home with us! Lake Santeetlah is a true gem that due to the fact its on a natural forest will always be one of the most beautiful lakes in the southeast. Both Leann ans Suzette were great to work with and we look forward to going back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dear Annoushka and Peter; Thank you soo much for your lovely review. We really appreciate it and are genuily happy that you love the lake and home as much as we do. Hope to have you return! Warm Regards, Suzette
