Las Olas condo description
Located at the tip of Baja California just minutes from San Jose Del Cabo and only 20 minutes from Cabo San Lucas with the beach is just steps from your door. Situated on the safest swimming beach in Costa Azul. This condo offers a king and two twins beds plus hide-a-beds in living room area.
Las Olas is a great complex located on the white sandy beaches of San Jose del Cabo. The complex has a large pool and three cascading Jacuzzis. There is a roof-top tennis court, a work out room, an ocean view from every condo, and a restaurant/bar onsite. Las Olas is in 'Costa Azul', home to 3 of the greatest surf spots in Los Cabos: Zippers, The Rock, and Old Mans AKA Acapulquito. The beach is very safe for swimming and there is even a small break nicknamed 'middles' for the kids and beginners.
Las Olas is very close to a large supermarket and is within walking distance to 3 restaurants as well as a Surf Shop with beach rentals, a smoothie and snack bar, an adventure company, and a spa. Las Olas has gated parking with a full-time guard and is very safe. It is on the main highway which makes it easy to catch the bus to go anywhere: Downtown San Jose is 10 minutes away and downtown Cabo is 20 minutes away. This condo offers its own washer and dryer as well as a sofabed, fully-equipped kitchen (fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, etc.), and a beautiful big balcony to whale watch and watch the sunset.

GLOBE AND MAIL article - Feb 24 2011 - Jake Macdonald - (short version) Big chop. Big fish. Meet Mexico's quiet side
All night long, the surf was up, big waves thumping the beach like artillery. At 6:30 in the morning it was light enough to see palm fronds whipping in the wind. We stood on the balcony looking at the Sea of Cortez. A smudge of rain clouds on the horizon. Off we went. An hour later, we were smashing through heavy seas in a 42-foot Hatteras fishing boat. The swells were so high that another boat running alongside us a few hundred metres away kept disappearing in the troughs. Around 9 a.m., just as the captain promised, the wind died down and the sea became pacific. Considering that the entire Eastern United States was being assailed by the fifth blizzard of the winter, a short gale at daybreak didn’t seem so bad. Even the clouds were gone. “It never rains here,” Angus said. “It’s basically a perfect climate.”
The Baja Peninsula trails down into Mexico from the bottom left corner of the United States. It is wild and rugged, characterized by steep arid mountains, red desert and forests of saguaro cactus. It’s 1,600 kilometres from top to bottom and if you drive its length, you have to calculate gas stations on a map. People call it “the other Mexico” because the Sea of Cortez separates it from the mainland’s much-publicized kidnappings and drug wars. There are two towns at the southern tip of the Baja – Cabo San Lucas, which is overrun with beach vendors, cruise-ship tourists and badly sunburned party dudes – and the quieter, more refined San Jose del Cabo, 40 kilometres up the coast.
San Jose del Cabo is a community that seems to be propped up by several thousand wealthy, wintering Anglos who have brought along their ideas in art, cuisine and design. (Morgans, one of the town’s best restaurants, is operated by a couple from Harrison Hot Springs, B.C.) There are top-notch jazz combos playing around town and half a dozen excellent restaurants and the safe, quiet downtown has a charming colonial feel. There is a verdant central plaza, an ancient mission church and an art district with many small galleries. On Thursday night, there is a regular two block-long “art walk,” with gallery owners offering free wine and an introduction to the work on display. In short, San Jose del Cabo is a Mexican town that has adopted the best elements of American culture and dropped the ones we can all do without.
As with any seaside town, the real attraction is the sea. In the autumn, thousands of humpback and grey whales arrive from the north, bound for the Sea of Cortez to give birth to their young. If you’re strolling the beach at San Jose del Cabo, you only have to watch the sea for a few minutes to see the spout of a migrating whale. If you go fishing, they’re everywhere.
By midmorning, we were trolling up the Pacific side of the cape. Massive aquamarine waves reared up and flung themselves onto the uninhabited red-sand beaches. We never saw a soul, except for the whales. In every direction, whales were rolling, spouting, lifting their great tails as they dove under. Some would breach, jumping clear of the ocean and landing with a terrific explosion of spray. From a distance, it looked like someone was dropping school buses in the ocean.
We fished for five hours, searching for striped marlin, about the size of a kayak, and saw a hundred whales. Midafternoon, we arrived back in port, sunburned, rubbery in the legs and keen for a platter of hot tortillas and cold beer. We all agreed that it was a great fishing trip. We even caught five skipjack tuna. They’re a small fish (about the size of your forearm), but good eating.

Spring Break and Iron Man Cabo
Spring Break and Iron Man Cabo
We had a great stay at Las Olas over spring break and for IronMan Cabo. The ocean view was fabulous, with easy beach access as well as great access to spectate the swim and bike of the race. It was very convenient to rent surf and paddle boards for some great surfing directly in front of the condo. We had several great volleyball games at the very conveniently located sand court and loved the nachos and margaritas next door at Zippers. Our teens loved the outdoor concert on the beach next door as well. A special thanks to Gerardo for welcoming us and helping whenever we needed.

We recently spent 4 nights in this condo and it was exactly what we were looking for in a vacation rental. The condo was sufficient, and it had everything you would need in the kitchen, bedrooms, laundry, etc. But the grounds were immaculate, the pool was beautiful, the surf was right out the door and the view was worth waking up for every morning. It was a sleepy atmosphere, only a handful of the condos were occupied and we spent most of the day at the pool by ourselves. It was our perfect vacation. Thank you!

We stayed at this Las Olas condo for 26 days from December 17, 2008. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience The condo is very spacious with large rooms. The kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms worked well for our family. The view is fantastic and you get the feeling the water is right there, which it is! The unit also has a washer and dryer which was very handy especially for longer stays. The unit and the whole complex were very clean and well taken care of. The pool area had lots of very comfortable lounge chairs and there was never a problem getting one. We are not surfers, but if you are, I cannot think of a better location than than this complex for access to the waves. Take a few steps and you have access to a great 7 km beach which we really enjoyed for walking. We rented a car the whole time we were in San Jose del Cabo and would recommend that. There are so many good restaurants in town which is only a short 5 minute drive. A very good grocery store is also 5 minutes away. We found that having a car just open up a lot of options for us! This condo has a feeling of home after a very short time and we can not wait to go back again to absorb some more of that view

Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Robert and I (Edna) are the proud parents of 4 amazing kids ages 8 down to a year. We both work in the Fixed Income markets here in Toronto. We love to travel, EAT and coach/manage our kids in little league soccer, hockey and lacrosse. We have 3 dogs - who unfortunately don't get to come to Cabo with us. We love surfing which is one of the reasons we love Cabo - and Las Olas - so much!
Why the Owner Chose Las Olas:
When we went to Cabo on a family vacation back in January of 2008 we never imagined that we would be buying a home by the end of the trip but after a chance meeting with a real estate agent - who we are proud to now call a friend - and our property manager - we were! The fact that Las Olas is right on the surf - and the view is so phenomenal both day and night sold us on the property right away. With it being only 15-20min from the airport and only another 15-20 to San Lucas we were sold. Having the Mega (supermarket) so close by (only 5min) was a huge bonus. We love San Jose and everything it offers...the restaurants are fabulous and the kids just love spending Sunday nights in the square enjoying the locals' 'fiesta' nights.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We consider 302B our home when in Cabo and think we have done well by our guests in keeping it clean and most importantly - updated. We are in Cabo at least twice a year and when in town always make sure that the linens are changed if worn, the appliances are in working order (the washer/dryer was purchased in August 2010) etc etc. We want our guests to be as comfortable as possible as they are on a well earned vacation and we all know how precious those are!
