Why pay for a motel room with two queen size beds when you can get a whole house with a great kitchen and spacious outdoor deck for not much more?
This cottage style home was built new in 2006 and sits on over 28 wooded acres just one mile south of Douglas right off Blue Star Hwy. Only one mile to Pier Cove on Lake Michigan. It's very private with a large deck for entertaining. Inside there is a wood burning fireplace and a large kitchen open to the living room designed for entertaining. This home has a second hot water heater that can be turned on for larger groups.
The kitchen is fully equipped and has a farmhouse style porcelain sink, cobalt blue solid surface countertops, and Kraftmaid cabinets. All the appliances are stainless steel and include a Jenn-Air cooktop & Broan hood with chimney, and an industrial size refrigeration unit with full size freezer.
Four bedrooms each have queen size beds and all the bedding, linens, and towels are provided. There is an extra large family room in the lower level that has a new king size bed.
The house is one mile to the beach at Pier Cove. It's a nice, quiet
beach that few people know about. There's another large park further down on Lakeshore Drive that's nice as well and not well known. Pier Cove says no dogs but you'll see several dogs on that beach as there's no one to enforce it. The other beaches in Douglas and Saugatuck do not allow dogs and are
strictly patrolled.
All the privacy and amenities your family and friends need to enjoy your time on Michigan's West Coast.

Luxury Cottage on 28 Acres 1 Mile to Town
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Saugatuck
I've been a real estate broker in the area for ten years and became well educated on what home owners want when they come to the area. This home reflects the best in design and layout for vacationers coming to Michigan's lakefront Saugatuck-Douglas communities.
The Unique Benefits at this House
This home is so secluded and private yet only five minutes to any activity in the Saugatuck Douglas area. The kitchen, living room and very large deck are one continuous living space that can comfortable accommodate large groups of people. All the furniture is new, as is the house itself.
New Luxury Cottage set on 28 acres one mile to town. 1 bedroom has a king size bed and 3 bedrooms have a queen size bed. A u shaped couch in the family room is actually three twin sized mattresses which accommodate 3 more sleepers for a total of 11.
Owner's Map of Saugatuck
I graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Transportation & Logistics, and later went on to graduate from Michigan State University with an MBA. I am a licensed real estate broker and have represented buyers and sellers in this area for ten years. I love the country and lakeshore in West Michigan and take full advantage of sunsets and the countryside. Physical fitness and my 13 year old yellow lab are both important to me. I built this house knowing what buyers want when they come to this area and hope you get the opportunity to enjoy this house as much as I have.

This is a spacious, beautiful house with a wonderful kitchen. Rick said everything we need is in the house, and that is true! It is very private, hidden in the woods and has a big deck in the back. We spent a week here in July 2011 relaxing and visiting Saugatuck and Douglas, going to the beach, shopping, etc. We were also happy to find a pet-friendly house so we could bring our kitty.

We stayed at this cottage for 3 nights in September of 2011 and greatly enjoyed the experience. The house itself is immaculate, and you can tell that the owner put a lot of thought into what people are looking for when renting a house for a vacation. We have two small children, and the house gives ample room for play-time, as well as privacy, as the home is situated in the forest, making it really easy to relax. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything needed to cook, and everything, I mean everything, is state of the art in the kitchen. The home is only a 3-4 minute drive to all the happenings in Douglas and Saugatuck, and to be honest, it seemed like the perfect scenario. You can take in all the sites of the beach town, and then kick back in seclusion, seemingly away from everything in the world. We'll stay here again, also recommend to friends headed to the area.

My husband and I, along with our daughter and her family, enjoyed a vacation in Saugatuck during Labor Day week, and we are so glad that we chose to stay here. The kitchen was even more fabulous than expected (I went home wanting to remodel my own!), the master bathroom is lovely, and the home is solidly built, with many amenities provided. We especially appreciated the sense of privacy the wooded setting offers, while being within a few minutes of town. We savored the small shops, art galleries, and microbreweries in the area, as well as the abundance of u-picks, farmer's markets, and the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan. And our 9-month-old granddaughter confirmed, after careful exploration, that this property is the best one in the area.

This house is clean and well-appointed with a large deck overlooking a forested area. It is very close to Douglas, Saugatuk and Fenville. We enjoyed bike rides through area's many orchards and farm fields that are just outside the door. A short drive to Pier Beach was a big hit with the kids. The kitchen has everything a vactioner may need. We enjoyed baking peach pies and making blueberry pancakes!

Just a quick note to let you know that we've really enjoyed our vacation and the use of your terrific house. You're right about the kitchen: It's great! The woods, too, are wonderful, as is the entire area. And our 9-month-old granddaughter has confirmed, after careful exploration, that your house is the best one in the area. :-) Again, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The house is great; the area, spectacular. We hope to return both to the area and to this house. All best, Richard

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage in the woods! Rick, the homeowner, was wonderful about communicating and answering all questions. The location is IDEAL--close to Douglas/Saugatuck and beaches/parks/wineries/fruit picking. The house was incredibly clean, well maintained, and inviting! If you enjoy cooking and entertaining this is the place for you--the kitchen is huge, open, and well stocked with any utensil you might need. The large back deck is just off the kitchen/living room and is a great place to eat or read a book while enjoying being in the woods. Another big plus is INTERNET ACCESS!! I brought my dogs and they liked it too. We would definitely come back for another visit!

Perfect setting for small family and dog. Very private setting. The house is well appointed and the kitchen is stocked with everything you might need. Easy drive to Saugatuck and Douglas. Rick, the owner, was helpful in directing us to less crowded beaches and was prompt in responding to any other requests. Would stay again or recommend to friends.
