  We loved our stay at the Lucky Dolphin! The house is big, modern and comfortable! I enjoyed sitting on the top deck every morning drinking my coffee and looking at the ocean. The walk to the beach was short and easy. The king size bed has the most comfortable mattress, I slept so good every night! The jetted tub was the answer to the long drive down on our first night. It was reasonably priced with excellent accommodations. Close to everything, great views, we would definitely stay at the Lucky Dolphin again!

  Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

  The Lucky Dolphin is a great value. The location and accommodations were perfect for 2 adults and 3 college age kids. It was clean and well maintained, the photos shown are very recent and accurate. You can walk to Awful Arthurs, the Pier, the K-Mart and the beach access path is 2 doors down and across the street!...maybe 100 feet at the most to the access and another 100 feet across the dune to the beach. Close enough to go back and forth for lunch and snack breaks. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped for breakfasts and lunches, but since we were on vacation we ate dinner out every night. The useability and cleanliness of the outside shower was a real bonus.... If you're a cyclist, this location gives easy access to the soundside bike trails by crossing US158 at the 5th street light. The owners were real easy to work with and we would recommend this property to friends and relatives. The only drawback is that it is tenant self-cleaning, but it was left to us in sparkling condition by the previous tenant.

  My husband and I stayed here for four nights in May. This was our first VRBO experience and it was good! The price was right, the owners were very easy to work with, and the location was perfect because we could always see the ocean, whether in the kitchen, living area or on the two decks. (Caution: it does front the beach road, so there is noise, especially in the busier times, but we thought the hammock chair swing and views were worth it.) The house is also within walking distance of Kmart if you forget anything. The house has a reverse floor plan, and that's the only level we used. The King bed was comfortable, the jacuzzi tub was relaxing, and the flat panel TV made us feel right at home. The kitchen had what we needed to fix seafood everyday and the unit was clean. Overall it was a very comfortable house and enjoyable stay.

  This house was perfect for two families with small children. The house was exactly as described; very clean with a private beach access right across the street. The beach itself; was wide with plenty of space. The owners have updated all the TV's throughout the home to flat screen's; which was shown to be great entertainment for the little ones on a rainy day or in the evening. I would recommend this vacation house to anyone looking to enjoy time on the Outer Banks. Avalon Pier is a stones throw away and you are located in the heart of the Outer Banks....plenty of shopping, restaurants and entertainment near by. The owners were very easy to work with and I hope to return to this property on my next vacation. Thanks!

  Thank you for a wonderful vacation that would not have been possible without your lovely beach home. The house was clean, central to shopping, dining as well as being only a short drive to the lighthouses; had excellent views of the ocean as we were able to watch the surfers, the windsurfers, the fishing,and the dolphins (observed dolphins every day but one from the upper deck and on one of those days we watched the dolphins there morning, afternoon and evening!) My sons walked to the nearby pier to fish! Absolutely loved my bed in the master suite - this is one of the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept on. Hope that you home is available on my next trip down to the Outer Banks. I will definitely be recommending this home to my friends and family. The owners were very friendly and courteous. My goal was to relax and enjoy the ocean and I did.

  Some family and friends and I stay the week here and we had a great time, good ocean views , very clean , and very big . The only thing you need to remember to bring is sheets and towls other then that ebverything else is there . usually when we stay places there is never enough dishes and stuff to cook with but here there is all the things you will need to cook. We all loved the way everything was decorated so pretty you know your at the beach . I will def. be staying at this place again because not only was it beautiful , huge, and clean but it was also cheap .... =)

  My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary getaway on memorial day weekend, we had an excellent time, the place was clean, spacious, had everything you need there, and right across the street from the beach, great view. I would recommend to bring your linen. The owners were nice, and very modest and easy to work with. I would definitely stay here again.

  My family has been to this property twice already and have had a great time both times. The ocean views are fantastic (we saw dolphins twice in one day from the deck!), and beach access is right across the street slightly to the left. It is conveniently located a short walk away from K-mart, so it's easy to pick up the little things left behind (like salt & pepper in my case). The house was very clean and spacious. The kitchen had all the gadgets you would need. Everything from grilling, to making drinks, to everyday meals. The bedrooms were a good size with plenty of storage for your clothes and beach gear. The beds did have a top comforter, but you'll definitely want to bring sheets and pillows. I would recommend this property to anyone who's looking to have a wonderful Outer Banks experience. Enjoy!

  I am a little late writing this review but we stayed there in May 09 and it was the nicest vacation in a while. The owner was excellent to work with and the cottage was NICE !! We are looking forward to being able to stay there again. Thanks for everything.

  We stayed at the Sand Buoy property in Kill Devil Hills from July 12-19, and had a fantastic time! The house was clean, close to the beach, large enough for 8 of us comfortably, and had more-than-adequate amenities. We'd definitely stay there again, and recommend it to others! The only possible downside was that it was located across the street from public beach access, so if you are looking for something a little more secluded (less people on the beach), you may want to look a few streets over.
