Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1988
I love the serenity of the lake, and hope you love my home as much as I do.
Why the Owner Chose Taylorsville
I moved to NC from Los Angeles, and the cost of my half acre on the lake was a fraction of the price of the home I left in LA. I worked in Hickory, then in Boone, and when my work took me further away, I decided to keep this house. This is my home away from home, and hopefully will be my retirement home.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
I love western NC, and my home has one of the best locations on Lake Hickory -- right on the water, few houses in view, little boat traffic, and lots of peace, sunshine and quiet. It is a wonderful place for a relaxing break from the daily grind and pressures of work. During the summer, it's a great place to sun and swim; and year round there's good fishing in the lake.

We found this little gem after being rained out camping. It turned out to be a wonderful, if unplanned, part of our vacation. The view of the lake from the sun room, with autumn colors all around us and wind blowing through open windows was just captivating, and we spent most our stay just looking at the scene and reading. It was an easy transition from sleeping in a tent! The lake is lovely and we enjoyed walking down to the dock to see the ducks. The house is totally outfitted with everything you might have forgotten to bring and is extremely clean and cared for. A most enjoyable stay! Thank you, Marcia.

We have stayed in VRBO properties all over the world, and this is our new favorite! It was beautiful and charming, clean and well-appointed, comfortable and homey. We would definitely recommend this property to friends. This was a GREAT location on the lake! Easy to find but yet very quiet and private location on a beautiful wooded lot.
Owner response:Recent visitors have included honeymooners and families -- all have enjoyed the peaceful get-away from home.

We stayed at this property for a week, we being my wife and I along with our teenage daughter and her friend. We all found the cottage to be very comfortable and immediately felt at home. Everything we needed was there, including the excellent DSL service. The view of the lake, even in the off season and especially in the mornings at sunrise was very pleasing and serene. Though we are already quite familiar with the area, the information Marcia provides is very useful. We especially enjoy the fact that her property is on a cul de sac, resulting in very little traffic. We hope to return during the warmer months so that we can partake of the lake itself. If you are a person who appreciates a no frills, comfortable and economical place to stay, with the added benefit of a central location and being surrounded by the natural beauty of the lake and foothills and the distant mountains, then you will not be disappointed. We were very happy that Marcia gave us the opportunity to stay.

My husband, three boys and I went mining each day came back to the house and jumped into the lake to remove all the wonderful NC clay. We brought our kayaks and enjoyed the wildlife during the afternoon. My huabands favorite spot was sitting in the sunroom with the blinds opened to view the lake (while on his laptop) after dinner. We found the binder full of information so helpful. Such as were to shop , eat, site see. The directions made everything so much less stressful. This home is impecably clean and organized. The yard is beautifully landscaped with flowers. What more could you ask for.

We chose this Lake Hickory cottage for our honeymoon due to it's private and lovely location on the lake. We were not disappointed. It was far prettier than the pictures and being built into the side of the hill above the lake, has a charming design. If you don't mind driving a bit, there are quite a few interesting places to visit nearby as well. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a beautiful, quiet getaway,

We rented this home for a birthday fishing trip. It was a wonderful home. It has all we needed and more. We will be coming back. It was a nice quiet home with it's own private floating dock. We fished from the dock daily. Caught many fish. I myself caught a large catfish. We didn't want to leave when our time was up. And we will return soon. Thanks for letting us share your home.

Jack and I had a fabulous time in this house. The house was exceptionally maintained, had a great back porch with a great view of the lake. We stayed the coldest week in November but did not mind because we came home and had a fire every night. We would recommend this place to anyone.
