Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1989

Lee and Roxanne Dunn enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer. They also are active in disaster search and rescue in Colorado. In Montana they searched for lost hikers, hunters, backpackers, campers in the wilderness with highly training search dogs. In Colorado they have expanded their abilities to include the use of search dogs in collapsed buildings and disaster areas both natural and man made. White Deer Ranch was named after an albino white tail doe that was on the Ranch. She hasn't been seen in quite a few years, but keep your camera ready in case you spot her offspring.

Why the Owner Chose Absarokee

Lee and Roxanne love Montana. Lee bought the Ranch between Fishtail and Absarokee to enjoy and share with future generations. It is a beautiful area with a combination of wide open space and mountain views. They are happy to share their Montana experience with others by offering this unique opportunity to visit White Deer Ranch and see Montana from a local's perspective.

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

This log home is modern and comfortable with all the conveniences of home, yet the backdrop is spectacular, with breathtaking views of the Absaroka Beartooth Mountains and wildlife passing past the cathedral style windows. Guests can enjoy walks in the aspen grove, cottonwoods, grass fields, and creek bottoms. The ranch is a peaceful and a quiet place to stay and one can have as much solitude as you like. But if it is activities that you desire there are plenty of those on the ranch and nearby. You will get a sense of history when looking at the cobblestone house, which was built onto over the years, but is the original Hudson homestead house. Take a look inside the nearly 100 year old barn, complete with a nesting pair of barn owls. We are equipped with corrals and stalls, so bring your horse and ride on the ranch or one of the many trailheads within short driving distance. Another added benefit, is the peace of mind knowing that our daughter, Shaleen Dunn Contreras, the Ranch's Manager lives on the ranch in a separate house within walking distance to the Log House, and she can assist guests, if needed.
