Enjoy breath-taking views within one of the most peaceful settings on earth, deep in the low-country. Rich in history, Brookland will take you and yours back into an era of southern charm and grace. Enjoy nature in luxury!
Brookland Plantation on Edisto Island boasts historic features listed on the National Register of Historic Places and substantial frontage on Shingle Creek. It contains diverse habitats including maritime forest, saltwater marsh, sandy areas, orchards, evergreen upland forest, open fields and open water. The Greek revival house was built circa 1803 and beautifully restored in 2004. Redecorated in 2008, the home stays true to its history while maintaining an elegant, classic appeal. The views include spectacular marsh vistas, an open pecan grove, a pond, and numerous live oaks draped with Spanish moss.
Brookland is a part of 180,000 protected acres in the ACE Basin. The plantation’s traditional uses are protected under a conservation easement with the Low Country Open Land Trust. Scenes from Robert Redford's movie The Legend of Bagger Vance were filmed on Brookland. The plantation is 40 miles from historic Charleston and just a few minutes upstream by boat from the Atlantic Ocean.
Guests have access to two docks! Spend your time boating, fishing, crabbing, swimming, hunting, exploring or just relaxing. House includes a completely finished basement with a separate kitchen of its own, perfect for in-laws or the kids!
