  We stayed at the Farside Tara over Christmas and had an absolutely fantastic time! Amenities are exactly as described. The place was very clean and comfortable, the pool and the bed beside the pool took relaxation to a whole new level. It is it's own little paradise surrounded by beautiful trees and tranquility. We felt incredibly safe and well taken care of. I actually had a medical emergency and within minutes Isobel was on the phone with doctors that she knew personally. She was incredibly helpful and we appreciated it so much. It is a quick walk up the lane to the main highway where you can catch a collectivo every 5 minutes, there is also room to park a rental car. Thank you Isobel, we hope you are doing well and hope to see you again soon!

  We stayed at Far Side Tara in winter of 2012 for 3 months. The house was absolutely fantastic and our vacation was unforgettable! The house is very clean, comfortable and cozy for 2. We loved the garden because of these wondrefull Royal palm trees and for the space to walk around, my wife Lucie would take siestas under the palm trees when we came home from the beach, because the place is so quiet. And we even cooked home made breadwith the gaz stove and fish several nights in the barbeque that also serves as an outdoor eating place! Me and my wife stayed in the lower floor and with windows one on each side, that allow the breeze to flow through the space ~ we could even see the stars and the moon from our bed!. Our 2 girls came for a week to visit us and stayed in the casita, close to our home, that has twin bed, , which is just perfect because even though it's right outside it still gave them their privacy. We loved the fact that we were just a 10-minute drive from the beach and a 5 minute walk from Main road to take the (Colectivo) small bus every 3 minutes. The owner Isabel is so kind that she literally treated us like family! And in the evenings we'd cook at the house authentic Mexican food. We also loved the fact that the house is very close to Akumal famous beach for great swims and snorkeling and cenotes at Yalku. We've also recommended it to some friends because we're certain they will enjoy it as much as we did.

  We had a great month stay here. We found the apartment to be clean and well equipped . The main house where the owner lives is situated close by, boasts a beautiful pool and grounds which we were welcome to share. The village of Akumal is only three kilometers away and has great snorkling and a good reef off shore . There are lots of cenotes to explore along the coast.We had bicycles and enjoyed just riding to do shopping and to explore nearby attractions but otherwise there are lots of colectivos (local buses) to get you around. A rental car is easily arranged as well. Isabel was a most welcoming hostess and we know you will love her . Thanks a lot Stan and Marguerite

  We stayed at the Far Side Tara for three fabulous months. It was a total joy to be here right from the friendly and welcoming reception we received on our first night, through to the last night supper get together. An unforgettable vacation. The property itself is as described on VRBO… and more. We stayed in the lower apartment and found it clean and tastefully decorated and furnished. The pool area was spacious and totally conducive to just relaxing and hanging out. My favorite spot was the covered platform bed at poolside. The emperor palms at poolside added to the ambiance. Isabel was very sensitive and caring to ensure that our needs were met and that we were comfortable during our stay, she couldn’t have been a better hostess. We certainly felt that this was truly our home away from home. We are looking forward to next year! PS… We were truly lucky to have met John (in the upper apartment) and enjoy his company during our stay. Total fun and lots of laughs. Is that why it’s called the Far Side Tara? Love Rob and Pam

  Every dream come true! Peace and quiet when you want it, great company and entertainment too. From the moment we arrived to a welcome BBQ the hospitality was outstanding.The grounds are immaculate, the home so beautiful - pictures do not do justice. We rented a car in Cancun and drove one hour to "The Far Side", stopping at Sam's Club on the way for some groceries. The beach is only 5 minutes away by car, or the modern, conveniet bus comes frequently. The restaurants in Akumal cater to international fare and the ones on the pueblo side are great local Mexican fare and very cheap. Our hostess guided us to many great choices and we met many other travelers like ourselves. We took a drive to the Mexico/Belize border (4 hours), parked our car in a secured lot for $3.25 per day and went to Orange Walk for a few days to see some of Belize. The highways in Mexico are new, well maintained and safe. Back at the Far Side we snorked daily at Ya Kul, Akumal beach and the turtle preserve. We visited Mayan ruins, cenotes and had great adventures. This year will be our third conceutive year and after seeing many other places we will return to the Far Side again! The sad part is leaving. We took our final swim at 6:30 AM in the spacious pool before driving back to the airport. The pool water is so clean there is no need to shower before dressing. Thank you Isabel for such a warm, romantic and wonderful place to stay.

  We stayed for a month. This is paradise for sure. beautiful gardens, fabulous big pool, very hospitable owner. could not have found a better home away from home. The apartment lovely and fully equipt.We highly recommend!!!
