Sea Spray Cottages were built in 1950. There are 4 cottage in total on the grounds (3518-20 S. Virginia Dare Trail), each cottage is similar to the others, but each has its own unique qualities. Cottage #4 is very unique to the outer banks, it is a one-bedroom cottage that is perfect for couples who want to spend time at the beach in a very well appointed space without distraction from others. The cottage has a large great room with living, dining, kitchen and desk space. The bedroom has a queen-size bed (linens and towels not provided) and tiled bath with tub/shower combination. Check in is at 3 and check out is at 10:30.
The location of Sea Spray Cottages is ideal. Centrally located at Mile Post 11.7 in Nags Head, just south of the Nags Head pier and north of Snow Bird Soft Serve Ice Cream Shop. It is on the west side of the "Beach Road" and faces the cottages that backup to the ocean (that are ocean front). Cottage #4 has an uncovered wrap-around porch that has a seating area to enjoy your favorite beverages at and a private outdoor dining area.

All our rates include the 12.75% occupancy taxes; stays less than a week add a $50 cleaning fee. Weekly vacations, pets (max of 2) stay free; less than a week add a $50 per pet fee.

My husband and I booked this cottage for his birthday weekend. While the weather did not cooperate with us (it was cold, rainy and windy) we were pleasantly cozy in the little cottage and enjoyed the openness and warmth it supplied. This is a good location to many local restaurants, sights, and the beach. I enjoyed a 4 mile walk along the shore without realizing I had even walked 4 miles! Everything was just like it was in the pictures and we enjoyed the relaxing time here.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and our dog stayed at cottage # over Thanksgiving. It was the perfect size for the two of us. Everything was just as described. Close to several restaurants and the beach. We would definitely recomment to anyone looking for an easy getaway. Jon was very pleasant to deal with.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway.

My husband, dog, and I stayed at Sea Spray Cottage # 4 from 9/15 - 9/22/2012. We were very happy with the cottage. Everything was exactly as described and matched up to the pictures. This cottage is a great set up for a romantic getaway. Easy walk to the beach as well as to plenty of restaurants nearby. Anything you could want is within a very short drive or walk. Only complaint we had was that the mattress was very very firm, not to our liking making it uncomfortable to sleep. Other than that, we loved the set up of the cottage. Everything was very clean and all basic necessities were met and exceeded. Overall, we definitely recommend, and already have recommended to a few family members.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My boyfriend and I did Sun to Thurs and it was great albeit TOO SHORT. cottage was super clean and spacious, perfect location, updated bathroom and kitchen. We absolutely loved our stay. A few suggestions for the cottage though - outdoor shower or at least a faucet to rinse off sandy feet! And upgrade the wireless system. Only one router for all four cottages and it wasn't password protected. VERY slow to almost non existent. I realize vacation is to relax but We do a lot of online reading so that was an issue. Other than that we had a great time and will definitely consider this place again. Had some rain this week and we still had a great time. Wright memorial, jockeys ridge, blue moon cafe, surfin spoon. All wonderful.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the feedback. Couple of things to note: there is a hose available to our guests on the left as you walk down the drive for hosing off feet, beach equipment, etc. Outdoor showers are in our future plans, just not there yet. We have a radio anenna that broadcasts the internet for a 1/4 mile radius around the cottages. The modem was broken (I discovered when I was there testing it), I contacted the cable company, they replaced it and all working fine (and fast).

My husband and I recently stayed in cottage #4 and it was perfect. We didn't want to leave! The cottage was spotless and updated with beautiful wood floors and comfy furniture. The layout of the cottage was so comfortable and open, perfect for a couple. Beach access was across the street which was very convenient. We also loved the deck where you could sit and read or just relax if you didn't feel like going to the beach. The location was perfect, very close to restaurants, supermarkets and other shopping. The owner's restaurant suggestions were wonderful- Tortuga's Lie was our favorite as well. We went back a couple of times! We would definitely stay here again when we come back to the Outer Banks. Cottage #4 truly feels like a little home away from home- What more could you ask for?Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

I didn't want to leave! I've fallen in love with Nags Head and will be back! The property was in the perfect location and the cottage was fantastic, it had everything we needed and my boyfriend and I felt right at home. You will find that the pictures on line dont even do this place justice. The cottage is laid out perfect and the owners did not waste an ounce of space. My wife is a tough critic, and she was very pleased. Little details like the drawer sized dishwasher and refinished original floors make this place very comfortable. The owner has updated and matching ktichen items. The bed has a feather comforter and the bathroom sink is huge and brand new with detailed fixtures. The yard is fenced for you pet and I would strongly consider renting all four cottages for entire family instead of a big house. Everyone would get ample amount of personal space. Cons: Not many! If you want to be really picky, the stove is small. This is a great place to get away with your wife or significant other. Very close to the beach and great local restaurants.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: Sea Spray Cottages were slated for demolition to clear the lots for construction of 2 lager 5-bedroom cottages. We purchased the lots with the requirement that the cottages remain. With preservation in mind, our intent is that we and others can enjoy a simple, yet comfortable stay at the beach in a historic property. The cottages are cool, more space then we can occupy at one time. We just love for others to enjoy what they have to offer.
Why the Owner Chose Nags Head:
My wife has been vacationing on the Outer Banks her entire life. She introduced me to the area when were were dating and have been vacationing there ever since. In 1991 we purchased our first cottage. In 2007 we purchased the Sea Spray Cottage Court. They were built in 1950; there are four cottages in total (3 are available for vacation rentals).
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
There are not many cottages like Sea Spray Cottages left on the outer banks. Additionally, these cottages are well appointed, comfortable and a really cool place to spend time at the beach. Cottage #4 is really unique as it allow couples to spend time alone at the beach without a bunch of wasted space (unoccupied bedrooms).
