Property description

Enjoy fun activities and events year-round at Squaw Valley. Check out what's happening at The Village at Squaw Valley and The Resort at Squaw Creek. From Squaw Valley enjoy easy access to beautiful Lake Tahoe, plus shops and cafes in Tahoe City and historic Truckee.

Plan now for your Tahoe vacation get-away in Squaw Valley. There's fun and adventure any time of year.

Squaw Valley is located approximately halfway between Truckee (8 miles) and Tahoe City (5 miles) on beautiful Lake Tahoe.

When driving on Highway 89 from either Truckee or Tahoe City, look for the turn-off to Squaw Valley USA. It's hard to miss the memorable signage -- those Olympic torches are still burning brightly. The Olympic Rings honor the 1960 Winter Olympic Games -- which put Squaw Valley on the map.

Our vacation home at 419 Winding Creek Road is approximately one-half mile from the turnoff on Highway 89 to Squaw Valley. Squaw Valley Road is the main thoroughfare. Our property is adjacent to Squaw Valley Road and the bridge across Squaw Creek.

Hop on the Squaw Creek shuttle, just steps from the front door. Frequent shuttles run up and down SV Road, from The Resort to The Village. The shuttle offers flexibility so everyone can come and go as they please. The option to use the shuttle is helpful for families and/or groups.

The shuttles run up and down Squaw Valley, day and night. Leave your car parked in the driveway.

At the base of the mountain is The Village at Squaw Valley. Once there, it's easy access to stroll to shops, cafes and various activities. There's several ways to access the slopes.

On the opposite side end of the valley, across the meadow, the shuttle stops at the luxurious Resort at Squaw Creek. Enjoy the wonderful sights at The Resort, and choose your favorite restaurants, shops and sports activities.

If you're thnking ahead for the ski season, Squaw Valley and its partner resort, Alpine Meadows, are not far from other ski resorts: Homewood, Sugar Bowl and North Star. Google individual resorts for more information.

It's never to soon to think about how scenic and relaxing Squaw Valley is all-year round: winter, spring, summer and fall are hard to beat.

The main living level is upstairs, on the second floor. Many windows let in lots of light. So the 'The Great Room' is inviting and cheerful. The open floor plan combines kitchen, dining and living rooms. Sliding glass doors open to a deck with firewood or in summer, BBQ, table and chairs.

The upstairs also includes the Master Bedroom and bath.

The generous dining table seats six. With two additional chairs. The kitchen counter has a breakfast bar with stools.

A bay window alcove features a small table/desk with two chairs, perfect for your laptop -- FREE wifi.

Living room seating includes a sofa, loveseat and built-in seating by the river rock fireplace hearth. Hand-crafted iron fireplace doors showcase Olympic Rings.

All three bedrooms have a queen-size bed with distinctive bed frame and designer bedding.

The Master Bedroom and Bath are tucked off the main living level. A new wood-fold door separates the Master from the Great Room. This bedroom features a walnut sleigh bed with antique bedside tables and chest of drawers.

The middle bedroom has a queen bed with antique brass bed frame and antique oak wash stand.

The larger bedroom has a queen bed with pine headboard and painted chest of drawers. Plus there's a trundle bed for kids.

High-efficiency washer/dryer are available -- please follow directions for use!

Reservations are not confirmed until payment is received. The preferred method of payment is by personal check or in some last-minute situations, PayPal. There's a 45-day advance notice policy regarding refunds.

Housekeeping includes two housekeepers for an average of four hours each, plus a housekeeping supervisor. The housekeeping fee is $160 to $250 depending on the number of guests and length of stay.

When you book a three-night stay at 419 Winding Creek Road, thank you! The NEXT TIME you reserve ANOTHER three-NIGHT stay -- please add to your reservation a fourth night FREE! (holidays excluded)

Reservations cancelled more than 45 days before the scheduled arrival date are subject to a 10% re-booking fee. Reservations cancelled less than 45 days before scheduled arrival are subject to loss of monies paid. If the time slot is re-booked, the the 10% re-booking fee applies.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE Arrival time is 4 pm. Departure time is 10 am. Early check-in or late check-out late can be arranged subject to housekeepers' schedule. Early check-in at 1pm or late check-out at 1pm is subject to a $50 fee.

PETS are not allowed in this property. NO EXCEPTIONS.

OCCUPANCY Maximum occupancy for adults is six. Sleeping arrangements can accommodate one or two children.

Ski or snowboard to your heart's content. It doesn't get much better than Squaw Valley-Alpine Meadows. There's also close proximity to Homewood, Sugar Bowl and North Star ski resorts, to name a few...

Owner info

Year Purchased: 2000

About the owner: We enjoy coming to our mountain get-away in Squaw Valley any time of year. Our family has enjoyed Tahoe for more than 20 years. We fell in love with Squaw Valley when our sons skiied with the Squaw Valley Ski Team. At long last we purchased our 'fixer' house in 2000. It needed remodeling, so we spent a lot of time that first summer driving to Tahoe. We discovered how beautiful and fun Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe are year-round. Our older son eventually specialized in competitive Telemark skiing. He lived in the house with friends and his future wife for six years. Now both our sons are in their 30's. We don't get to Tahoe so often anymore, and are happy to share our lovely home with others.

Why the Owner Chose Squaw Valley (Olympic Valley):
The Squaw Valley shuttle rus between The Resort at Squaw Creek and The Village at Squaw Valley. This shuttle is a great amenity, with pickup at the corner of our street, just steps from the front door. Being close to the main road was a priority. First, Squaw Valley Road always gets plowed first. So one can always get on the shuttle and to the slopes. Second, everyone can come and go independently. It's easy to get back to the house for a hot lunch or to retrieve gear left behind. No need for a car in the Valley.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
We appreiate easy access to the amenities offered by The Village at Squaw Valley and The Resort at Squaw Creek. It's easy to get around to various activities: ski school, shops, cafes, restaurants, grocery & wine stores, and more. There are lots of special events, as well. We love watching the dog sleds moving across the snow-covered valley floor. At night we gaze in amazement at the bright stars so visible against the dark sky. The air at Squaw Valley is filled with the smell of evergreen trees. Squaw Valley offers such a complete package that sometimes we never feel the need to leave the valley at all.
