Everything we hoped and more!
Everything we hoped and more!
My wife and I were finally able to get away and we had always heard how great Lake Lure was. The listing was very accurate, the house is perfect and located right on the water. There are so many places to enjoy outside. Our favorite place was the dock on the water. The house was immaculate and really well maintained, it acutally felt like a home away from home. The owner was very accomadating with booking and checkout. I would absolutely reccomend this house to anyone. There are some great views of the lake and the mountains everywhere on the property. We canoed several times and went on some great hikes at chimney rock. We will definitely be back next year!

To Our Guests! Thank you!
To all of our guests this year we want to thank them for visiting Lake Lure and our rental. Many of you have written us to let us know what a great time you had and how much you liked the house. We apologize for any issues that a few people may have experienced. We want you to know we have updated our rental, our decks, and took down some annoying trees that may have hid the views of the pretty lake & mountains. We are always open to suggestions and hope you visit again. To our new guests please know that we are always fixing anything that has broken and try very hard to make this rental comfortable for everyone. Thanks so much! 2013

Nice but not Great
Nice but not Great
After reading reviews on this property my husband and I thought this would be a good rental. First the good points: It has large windows with a lovely view. It has a very nice swimming area which I think would be very nice in the summer. Now the negative: First off we realized we were never given an exact address and had to look for the rental since it wasn't on the road that the limited directions gave. That got things started on the wrong foot. The house was rented right before us and as each and every stay requires a cleaning fee, you would have some expectation that it would be not only neat but also clean. The floor in the main area is tile which should be easy to keep clean, however it was in need of a sweep and mop. The rug in the kitchen was old and dirty. The master bath shower was covered with soap scum, not to mention the large spider web in the ceiling corner. When we went to use the grill, it was so gross that we decided to cook indoors. The laundry room is located on a lower level which is reached by going out the front door and down a flight of stairs. I tried to wash one load of clothes before going home and the washer would not rinse or spin out the water, so I had to wring out my clothes by hand and take them home soaking wet. If that weren't enough the neighbors had a dog that barked non-stop every time we stepped outside. Also, if you are older, you should know that there are tons of stairs going everywhere.. We love the lake lure area, but doubt we would choose this rental again.

Owner response: The address and directions are provided on each reservation agreement the customer receives prior to the rental date. Please make sure you have it and your security code before making a trip to any vacation rental. The guest found the house without address, checked in early without approval, then called us to make sure it was the right house. We do keep our rentals nice and ask that guests notify us if they have not been cleaned properly by our cleaning agency. We wish they had called to report it as I would have come out and cleaned it personally. No spider web was found on the ceiling. I was unaware that the washer was not working properly or I would have had it fixed. I called appliance repair today. I also purchased a new black grill cover and took it to the house. The grill was very clean. The houses nearby do also have vacation guests and we have no control if a dog barked. There were instructions at the house to call us so we can report barking dogs as there are strict ordinances on the lake. We never received any calls. It is stated on the VRBO description and on the agreement that there are multiple levels to this house and stairs. Many of the lake homes located on Lake Lure mountain area are the same. The guest may have had a difficulty due to age or health conditions. We do appreciate it if guests let us know if something is wrong before they put it on a review so we are able to correct any issue. Please let us know prior to your stay if you have any concerns. We do want your stay to be nice! Thanks, Liz

We loved this lake house. First visit to Lake Lure, it was beautiful. House was perfect, very clean, everything you could need. Had a wonderful time. Highlights: rented a pontoon for the afternoon and explored the lake. It was a picture perfect day, it was so fun. Very nice to be able to pull right up to your dock for a quick break. Dinner at Larkins on the outside porch, food was excellent. And the final highlight was a stop at Sam's the original hillbilly to purchase his hand made walking stick, what a charater!! Liz was wonderful to work with. Fun times!!

Owner response: The Lake is so beautiful! We are glad you enjoyed it. Pontoon boats can be rented from locally and we will give our guests the information when reservation is made. You can also bring your own boat. Permit for the Lake is required. Let us know if we can help. Also you can bring tubes to float out in the lake. We tie them together with our family off the pier. Lots of fun! We do have a canoe and kayak available for you to use anytime you are visiting. Thanks Chuck and Judy! We hope you visit again! Liz
We couldn't have asked for a better lake house for our weekend away! My family of four, including two children ages 4 and 6, had a wonderful time. We were most impressed with the dock and private beach- exactly what we were hoping for when we booked! The house was very clean and comfortable. TV and DVD player worked fine and the views from the house are great! We spent a lot of time on the back deck enjoying the view of the lake and mountains. I loved that the house has lots of trees- it feels secluded and peaceful. We used the grill both nights and ate on the porch. There are a lot of stairs, as mentioned in other reviews- but it was no problem for us. We never used the screened porch or laundry, we chose to hang out on the dock or in the backyard. My children were happy playing on the playset, swimming and fishing. They caught catfish and perch. I highly recommend this property!

Wonderful Lake Home!
We loved the lake house! Will be back next year! Thanks for removing the big trees your previous guest talked about. The stairs were not bad at all since there are multiple levels of decks to relax on. We went on the marina pontoon boat ride and it was very informative and fun! Played golf at Rumbling Bald Resort. Going to bring more family next year since there is a lazy river and pools at Rumbling Bald. We also went out on the paddles boats. Floating along the lake banks we saw quite a bit of wildlife and took our shot at fishing which we succeeded at. Lots of stores to visit and Chimney Rock to hike in we were never bored! Such a sweet town reminded us how you can also slow down for a change. The house was very comfortable and had great views of the mountains and the lake. Such a relaxing vacation. Sorry we had to leave.

Fantastic Long Weekend
My husband and I and another couple enjoyed our visit to the Lake Lure Lakeside Cottage. The house was beautiful with incredible views and comfortable and exactly as promised! Our only disappointment was that the three days flew by and we would have loved to stay longer.

We Loved Lake Lure!
We had a great time! Thanks for all the ideas of what to do and see. We spent quite a bit of time canoeing on the lake and seeing the fabulous homes built there! We do recommend the pontoon boat ride as they tell you all of the history of the area, and it's fun! We went hiking in Chimney Rock and visited Black Mountain and Asheville. The Inn of Lake Lure had a wonderful Sunday brunch and your suggestion of going to Larkins on the Lake was a good one. The food there is great and we had a nice time sitting on the water side deck. We hope to visit next year during the summer.

Amazing Rental with all the comforts of home!
Amazing Rental with all the comforts of home!
This was a first visit to Lake Lure and definitely not our last. Lakeside Cottage exceeded our expectations and had everything and beyond of what you would expect from a rental. The beds were comfortable and the futons were not at all what you would expect...I believe they had inner springs or something. We prepared most meals in and found everything we needed in the kitchen including lovely serving pieces as well. Internet, cable, dvd player, etc. all very easy to use. Probably our second day in, Liz (the owner) called to make sure everything was in order which was very thoughtful. The Lake Lure pontoon boat toured was recommended by several people so we did that early in our stay to get the lay of the land. Definite must do! The canoe and kayak were enjoyed by all. The lake is beautiful and clean and so accessible with the dock and beach! Lakeside Cottage and Lake Lure were an awesome discovery I would recommend to all. Asheville, Chimney Rock and Hendersonville are all close and worth the visit. The majority of the shops are quality shops. Lakeview Restaurant in Rumbling Bald (free passes through Liz) is a fabulous restaurant. We will absolutely visit again.
