We thoroughly enjoyed at week in this charming little apartment with the buzz of life along the Seine below. It was so well equipped , clean and comfortable. The location is ideal for staying in Paris and so near the hub of true Parisian life. The only complaint was that it was quite warm even with the heating off and we would have liked the choice of a lighter blanket, not just the one heavy doona. Otherwise perfect!

Owner response: Weather has been quite chilly in Europe though this is springtime. Thus we decided to keep the duvets as beddings until temperature improves. We did not and cannot anticipate overnight changes. During summer and warmer periods of the year we switch for lightweight pure cotton linens for smooth and confortable nights. Warm or cold, just advice on your preference and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

We've recently returned from a 6 night stay in this apartment and can echo all of the wonderful comments in the prior reviews. The location is great; we were able to walk everywhere, though the metro is very close by. There are wonderful bakeries, cheese stores, etc. right around the corner (the owner provides a very helpful book with recommendations), which made for easy and delicious breakfasts each morning. Aside from the fantastic location, though, the apartment itself is simply wonderful. It's furnished beautifully and tastefully and it was spotless. The owner has thought of absolutely everything to make the stay perfect, including fresh slippers, an adaptor, guide books, paper towels, napkins, spices, etc. The kitchen set up is just what you'd want (assuming you aren't planning on making a major production out of cooking in since it is small), including unlimited coffee beans and a great coffee maker! Having a small washing machine and dryer was great too. The owner, Pierre, was lovely to deal with and very helpful. The payment and security deposit refund process was no problem. Really, I cannot imagine that this apartment wouldn't exceed your expectations and we would happily return and refer all of our friends to it. You would be nuts to stay in a hotel rather than in this gem.

As tourists on foot in Paris we appreciated this centrally located gem of an apartment on Ile St. Louis, an island on the Seine with a charming Old World feel. The view from the window is pure Paris, overlooking the famous river. We ate chocolate croissants from the shop steps from "our place" each morning, sipped perfect cups of coffee brewed in the gourmet coffee maker, and ate eggs cooked in the compact efficiency kitchen. The apartment is perfect in it's organization and design; it had everything we needed. My husband and I were quite happy and highly recommend it.

The apartment was all we hoped and more. It is meticulously furnished, very comfortable, and views are beyond belief. Pierre met us there when we arrived and welcomed us and explained all the practical things that we needed to know. The neighborhood is just lovely as well, and has everything one needs to have a lovely Paris experience without the crowds of some of the other more tourist-typical neighborhoods.

My wife and I adored the apartment on Ile St. Louis. The location couldn't be better. As centrally located as you can get with wonderful neighborhood shopping and services around the corner but nice and quiet in the late evening. The apartment is a model of comfort, esthetics and efficiency. As we left this morning, my wife turned to me and said, "Oh, we are so staying in this apartment again!" The owner is a dream to work with. I've been renting apartments all over Europe for the last 6 years and none have been as loaded with all of the little extras like this one is. Finally, the owner collecting the rugby tickets I ordered and holding them for me until we arrived really demonstrated the hospitality that comes with this rental.

All we can say is the apartment and staying there was a fantastic experience!! From the location, to the shops nearby for groceries, to the amenities and thoughtful things the owner had stocked (water, small misc toiletries one might forget, amazing coffee machine!). The toilet room was a tad small, as others have commented. We felt very safe at night and thanks to the very comfortable bed, we were able to sleep well. My husband commented that he would reserve this place a year in advance if it meant when we come back to Paris we could stay here =). Hope to visit again soon!

How sweet was it to be able to see so much of Paris from our apartment windows! We could feel that we were taking in the sights even while relaxing at "home" with a glass of wine in hand and a fire in the fireplace. The apartment was comfortably and tastefully furnished - the living room was the highlight of the apartment, giving us the chance to share some evening wine and morning breakfast with friends. The layout did make for a small bathroom and kitchen, but that is expected in a major European city. We like to cook some meals while on vacation, since one of us has a dairy allergy. The kitchen was workable, but tight enough to present some small challenges. It was wonderful to find the basics of coffee, tea, olive oil, high quality salt and pepper and a few additional herbs and spices supplied. Many other nice touches were present in the apartment (backgammon, electrical adapters, shoe horns, bathroom travel amenities, flowers, fruit, umbrella). We really felt like we had everything we needed to feel at home. Pierre's local representative, Anne, gave us a thorough introduction to the apartment, which our jet-lagged brains slept through. Venturing out was always a delight, walking along or across the Island to Notre Dame, Latin quarter, dinners, museums, etc. The metro stop across the bridge felt like it was less than a block away, even though the neighborhood and apartment location were delightfully quiet. Pierre had put a book together with some super witty discussions of nearby restaurants and other services. The recommended boulangerie was particularly addictive. We did also use the driver Pierre arranged for us for our airport transportation, and found Chan to be a fabulous addition to the deluxe vacation experience. He was timely, polite/sweet and concerned himself with ensuring that both airport trips went completely smoothly.

This apartment is perfectly situated in the middle of Paris on Ile St Louis. From here you can conveniently walk to many places on either side of the Seine -- the Marais on one side; the Latin Quarter on the other. If your destination is too far to walk in high heels, then grab a cab or walk across the bridge to the Pont Marie Metro station. The Ile is the most coveted residential area of Parisians, and restaurants, cafés, boulangeries, épiceries, etc. are abundant. Parking spaces are not, so I don't recommend having a car, of which you'll have no need. The building is situated just beside the Seine, just across the Pont Marie, and the apartment has spectacular views of the Seine, the Hotel de Ville and the Marais. The building, like everything on St Louis, is stately and old but beautifully renovated. The elevator takes you right up to the front door of the apartment. Once inside you'll find traditional charm and modern conveniences in perfectly tasteful symbiosis. The "kitchen" is a Siemens combination of a microwave, coffee maker (espresso, cappuccino, café au lait, etc.), refrigerator, stove top, sink and washer/dryer all in one unit. It's amazing how well designed and operational it is. Though the apartment's total square area is small, all of the space is well used. It's undoubtedly intimate, but the separate shower and toilet offer a nice bit of privacy. The dining table is directly beside a window overlooking the Seine, which is a wonderful way to start the day with a cup of coffee or end the day's activities with a cocktail. And once in the comfortable king-sized bed, made with very nice linens and pillows, you can operate all the lights and blinds from controls on the wall beside the bed. There's a fireplace and sofa in the living room, and the bedroom offers a flat screen television, DVD player, cable programs and a stereo. Oh, and there's WiFi as well. One of the best things about staying in this apartment is that the owner is very organized, communicates well and sends you tons of information about the surrounding area so you can make any reservations well ahead of your stay. We had reservations for the evening of our arrival just around the corner at a charming, delicious and very reasonable restaurant, Le Tastevin, which I also recommend. The experience was wonderful. After many trips to Paris, staying in various arrondissements, the Ile St Louis and #7 will be my residence for future visits, if available. Thanks, Pierre!

              Year Purchased: 2008

About the owner: I'm Parisian working in the finance industry and have being living in this city for about 20 years. I've spent the other part of my life living abroad, travelling worldwide for business or entertainment. Throughout my extensive traveller experience on all the continents, I had the opportunity to stay in some of the most renowned and exclusive hotels and places in the world, from the unique Atacama Desert resort in Chile, to fashionable and privileged Mayfair addresses or opulent maharadja castle in Radjastan. When refurbishing this recently acquired apartment our goal was to make this place which benefited from a first class location on the Ile Saint Louis, a 5-star-hotel-suite like flat. Decorated and furnished with personal items, mixing French antic with souvenir de voyages you will find here cosiness of a flat and functionality of a hotel suite.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4:
I've been living in Paris for some 20 years and Ile Saint Louis is really the essence of Paris to me. I've been looking for years for an exclusive property in the centre of Paris without suffering from the trouble of a megapolis. I found it... The isle is a retreat from the stress and motion of the city. In addition to its exclusive setting in Paris the Ile Saint Louis offers peaceful and romantic tree-shaded quays accessed by stairway and, of course, the views on the city. This attests to the fact that, despite its development, the island has not lost its original function as a place for people to gather and relax in company with the Seine.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The unique location on the bank of Ile Saint Louis is one of the assets of this property combined with the state-of-the-art equipment we offer to our guest. Today, there is not a single hotel in Paris offering a room with direct view on the Seine River and the two hotels on the Ile Saint Louis charge you EUR250 per night for a room… without the view. Considering that hotel guests get all there meals outside, renting a flat will allow them to save money, cook as they like and feel at home. All facilities and shops are around the corner: bakery, supermarket, butcher, grocery, bar with terraces…. Relax and enjoy the suspended time of a real Parisian home!
