About: We came to Rockport around 1976 to look at a boat for sale. We bought the boat and spent every weekend we could fishing Estes Flats. We almost always caught fish and if we didn't, who cared, we were in Rockport. There was always something happening downtown, if not, we'd find a great restaurant (and there are many) to finish out the day and talk about the "big one" that got away.
Why Rockport: We found ourselves hating to leave each Sunday and we'd usually spend every SUNDAY afternoon looking at houses and dreaming of one day calling Rockport home. Finally one day we found a little house that we thought was perfect for us. It was in pretty bad shape and just for grins we made an offer. Surprise, when we got home there was a message on our answering machine that our offer had been accepted. Bam, we were Rockport homeowners. What started as a weekend getaway soon became our permanent residence. We spent everyday working on this little house making it our little paradise.
Our final addition was the "kitchen" and "bar" area. We have so enjoyed cooking a big pot of Gumbo or shrimp creole as all our friends and family belly up to the bar and visit as the cooking show unravels. We all know somehow everyone usually ends up in the kitchen, so we decided to just let them start out there. Hope you enjoy cooking there, too, but you don't have to, cause the bar stools fit real well for "to go" orders. HA!
