Beautiful Beach Home--Quick Walk to the Beach! Ocean Views!

Year Purchased: 2003

Why the Owner Chose Kealakekua Bay

Kealakekua Bay is a protected marine sanctuary and the most pristine location on the Big Island. It is home to spinner dolphins, migrating humpback whales and beautiful coral reefs. Captain Cook monument is one of our favorite places on the Big Island to snorkel, swim, kayak and dive. Manini Point House is just a two minute walk from Manini Beach on Kealakekua Bay and a quick drive to Honaunau also called "Two Step". Steve and Elizabeth designed this home as a dream home for themselves and hoped that guests to the Big Island would enjoy their stay at Kealakekua Bay in this lovely home in paradise as much as they do.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Manini Point House is a gorgeous Hawaiian home and it offers an opportunity to sleep to the sound of the ocean, beautiful ocean and sunset views, seasonal sightings of whales passing by, a walk to the beach, kayak trips to the monument, a glimpse of old Hawaii and Hawaiian culture, and watching surfers at nearby Keei Beach. If you love authentic Hawaii, the ocean, its sound of lapping waves, its cool breezes, the warm sunshine, birds singing, watching the sunset, wild winter waves, you will love Manini Point House! The ambience and Aloha of Hawaii is reflected in Manini Point House. It is a place for special moments with family and friends and quiet moments alone. A lovely large kitchen awaits those guests who want to create gourmet meals from fresh tropical fruits and vegetables gathered at the local farmers' markets. Adventures are not far away, including Volcano National Park, PuuHonua O Honaunau (Place of Refuge) siteseeing, restaurants with gourmet dining, horseback riding, yoga, massage and hot tubs and a new zip line in Hawi! Our concierge will help you plan your adventures. Manini Point House offers you a place to relax and enjoy the peace and serenity of Hawaii.

Owner's Map of Kealakekua Bay

Steve and Elizabeth built Manini Point House, completing it in 2003. Hawaii is their home year round. Steve and Elizabeth enjoy ocean swimming, snorkeling and paddling an outrigger canoe. They own and operate Konacopia Farm, an 11 acre organic coffee and mango farm nearby. Manini Point House guests receive delicious organic coffee and fruit from their farm and may tour the coffee farm upon request.

Aloha at it's best!

Our family discovered Kealakekua Bay in 2004 and can't imagine vacationing anywhere else. We have stayed in 4 homes in the bay and the Manini Point House is by far our favorite. Elizabeth and Steve have equipped their home with anything you might need during your stay; from boogie boards, beach umbrellas and chairs, snorkel gear, beach towels, bbq, board games, ping pong, and a well thought out kitchen. Which made cooking a joy. I don't necessarily like to cook, but local, organic food is our goal when it comes to doing our part in protecting our fragile planet. The welcome basket of locally grown fruit and coffee was very much appreciated and enjoyed by all. The house is an organic environment, cotton sheets, eco friendly cleaning products and a they have no poison policy when it comes to bugs. We felt right at home here. The bay is peaceful and secluded from crowded touristy area, but close enough to Kailua Kona, the volcano and other tourist destinations. We love snorkeling at the monument, 2 step and Ho'okena Beach. The City of Refuge shouldn't be missed, but skipping the cruise ship gift shops along the highway and supporting local artists is a treat. Make sure you visit the Potters Guild and say Aloha to Ina and Alysia for us. They are both gifted artists and teach at local schools. Traveling far isn't necessary to have a wonderful time on The Big Island. All of the places I mentioned are close and absolutely beautiful. Great restaurants are easy drives, Ke'ei Cafe (yummy everything), The Coffee House (yummy, healthy breakfast), Annie's Burger (well, yummy burgers). Choice Mart has a great selection of organic, natural, local foods...locally raised, grass fed, no added hormones beef, eggs, chicken and produce, and their staff is bursting with Aloha. Island Naturals is a mini Whole Foods and I was able to find many items I thought would be a difficult finding while on vacation. The Big Island is easy, relaxing, peaceful and thanks to Elizabeth and Steve, the IDEAL VACATION. Can't wait to get back to "our bay." Mahola and extra Aloha to our hosts.

Owner response:Thank you for the lovely review! It is guests like you that bring Aloha to Manini Point House and the Big Island of Hawaii!

A wonderful place to stay on the Big Island

This was a beautiful home in which our family of three children had a great time. The location was awesome since it was so close to the beach. We enjoyed the wonderful view from the second floor. The house is so very clean and spotless. The owners have provided many outdoor activity sporting goods. The ping pong table was a lot of fun too. The owners were also so helpful when my wife lost her earring down the master drain. They came over immediately and were able to rescue the earring. We would highly recommend this house to anyone. Well worth ones time and money.

Manini Point House

Guest: Robin (Eugene, Oregon)
Date of Stay: 01/24/11 Review Submitted: 02/16/11

We were with a group of three couples who stayed at Manini Point House and loved it; we stayed for 2 weeks and really settled in. We appreciated the sound and proximity of the ocean every day; we were within walking distance of Manini Beach, a lovely rocky beach with great snorkeling, as well as Napo'opo'o Beach, with rolling waves and more snorkeling. We loved learning about the local Hawaiian culture and history, and meeting local people; we did not want to stay in a tourist-y environment. We were within a few miles of Pu'uhonua Honaunau, the ancient Place of Refuge (also known as Two-Step, another GREAT snorkeling place), and relished our long walks to Ke'ei Beach as well. We could watch the migrating whales, surfers, and waves from the upper lanai; and had total privacy, shade, and relaxation on the lower lanai. The owners were very generous with the fruits of their farm (coffee, mangoes, and avos); and when the BBQ grill stopped working, they were immediate with a replacement. We used the ping pong table daily, too. Their house manual was FULL of ideas of things to do and places to go, as well as the best places to shop for food, etc., although the place was so nice, we did not need to drive much. The kitchen is outfitted with everything needed to prepare all kinds of meals, and was spacious and easy for all 6 of us to cook together. We felt totally luxurious in this house with it's gorgeous hardwood floors and soaring lines, soft natural linens and towels, great lighting, comfy furniture, and spacious rooms (and the main floor living area doors open up the wall completely to the lanai!). We hope to come back and bring our whole family next time! It is obvious that much love and care has been devoted to Manini Point House to welcome and nurture each guest.

My husband & I needed a beautiful and peaceful healing space, and the Manini Point House provided it. Not only is it a terrific location with ocean views, but it also offers privacy and a quiet neighborhood setting. The house and its contents are artistic as well as comfortable. It is well equipped with everything needed. The large kitchen inspires cooking and sharing with others. There is plenty of space for a family or a group of friends. In short: It is the best vacation home I've ever stayed in.

Our family of four (two kids, age 8 and 10) stayed at Manini Point House for a week in September 2009 and it was truly a gem. We were all very impressed with the layout of the house, the privacy of the loft (great for parents), the magnificient (well stocked) kitchen, the outdoor shower, the ping-pong table, even the numerous and convenient clothes lines! The house is obviously extremely well maintained, cleaned and taken care of. Everything is well oiled and well stocked. Top notch, and a great quality-price value. The owners are also true to their word and realistic in all advertising (on vrbo) and communications, which is always appreciated. The information binder and guidebooks available at the house were also very helpful and we made sure to hit the local places recommended for exploring, dining and shopping. The proximity to Manini beach and Kealakekua Bay is, of course, an incredible bonus. It was so convenient to just walk to the beach every day with the kids and even just walk down a bit further, rent kayaks from the friendly locals and quietly venture in the bay (dolphins and all). We can't wait to go back!

Ahh.. .is how I describe Manini Point House. This home is fabulous, with style and ambience and the location couldn't be better! Waking up every morning to the sounds of waves and birds is an unforgettable experience. We saw whales and swam and kayaked with dolphins in the bay. Every detail in this home is just perfect including the large basket of organic fruit and organic Kona coffee that awaited us. This home had everything I needed to make a home away from home.

Owner response:Aloha Lalita! Thank you for this response to your stay at Manini Point House and for your most recent stay!
