The Redfish at Yellowdog is a newly redecorated beach chic key west style 1BR/1BA waterfront cottage. It is by far the most stylish waterfront cottage in town.
The Redfish has a queen bedroom, a half bedroom with a modular full size bed, and a pull out full size sleeper couch in the living room. A large HDTV in also in the living room. The cottage has a full kitchen with large refrigerator, gas stove, coffee maker, microwave, and all kitchen utensils. A full bathroom is in the cottage, plus there is an additional shower and half bath are right outside your door.
Please note that since our rentals are pet friendly, we may not recommend staying with us if you have significant, uncontrolled allergies to pet dander. We make every effort to thoroughly clean between guests, but cannot guarantee the cottage will be 100% free of pet dander.
About Yellowdog: Yellowdog is a destination in itself. We have a boutique with ladies clothing and gifts, upscale resale and consignment clothing, homegoods, and original art. Opening soon is a cafe serving breakfast and lunch. We have boat dockage available and kayaks and stand up paddleboards available for rent. We are right next to Bert's Bar and Grill and across the street from Andy's Seafood - two of the best places to eat in Matlacha and they are right at your doorstep. Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay with you for an additional cleaning fee.
From Yellowdog you can easily walk to most of Matlacha's art galleries and restaurants.
Licensed Captain onsite: We have a licensed Captain available on weekends for boat trips and fishing charters. Captain Chris can take you on a sunset wine cruise, to Cabbage Key for lunch or dinner, or to Cayo Costa for a day of leisure on a beautiful island beach. We'll even pack a picnic for you.
For larger parties: For larger parties you may want to also rent the Tarpon Cottage at Yellowdog -HomeAway #952204. This is a 2BR/1-1/2BA cottage right next door to the Redfish.

Thanks for sharing your little slice of paradise with us. The Redfish is so adorable, exactly what an island cottage should look like. It doesn’t get any better than this!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were transported to "island time" as we walked through your gate. The cottage is charming in every way, but it was those hours and hours, morning to midnight, on the dock that will pull us back to Redfish in Matlacha. We might even be able to tear ourselves away enough to do a little exploring next time!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

When my husband & I needed to get away for some much needed R&R; with a touch of romance, our weekend at Yellowdog fit the bill perfectly! Once we stepped through Yellowdog's gate, we immediately started to relax. Owners Chris & Linda (accompanied by their 'smiling' golden retriever, Tiki) acclimated us to the property & provided us with suggestions for local restaurants/activities to enjoy during our stay. We had reserved the Redfish Cottage & found it to be remarkably spacious, comfortable & beautifully decorated. The unobstructed view of the bay & its mangrove forests were a romantic backdrop for sunset cocktails on our waterfront back porch. The highlight of our trip was the next morning: breakfast on the waterfront deck followed by a leisurely paddle board trip through the mangrove maze next to Yellowdog. There were dolphins feeding in the shallows, Ospreys overhead and not a soul in sight. What an amazing (and surpisingly easy) way to enjoy the beauty of Matlacha! We didn't have to move our car the entire weekend. We walked to local restaurants (Andy's & Bert's), made a few purchases from Yellowdog's chic boutique & strolled through their impressive gallery filled with works from local artists. Many thanks to Chris and Linda for all they did to ensure our comfort & happiness during our stay! We look forward to returning to Yellowdog & exploring Matlacha by boat.Recommended for: Pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

The Yellowdog is by far the nicest accommodation we''ve stayed at in Matlacha and the surrounding area. It was a well appointed little cottage with a full kitchen and all the comforts of home. It could not have been decorated any cuter, tasteful and tropical. It was amazing to step out our door and watch the mullet jumping and the dolphins swim by. They also had kayaks and stand up paddle boards that you can slip Into the water right from their docks. It is pet friendly which was also nice and the compound is secure so Fido can roam safely once inside the Yellowdog gate. I am already planning a girls' weekend getaway, can't wait to return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We actively manage this gorgeous property and do whatever it takes to make sure our guests have a fantastic vacation!
Why the Owner Chose Matlacha:
There are no other properties in the area like ours. We have 3 cottages confined in a gated area, with kayaks and paddle boards, plenty of outdoor seating, boat slips, and views that will take your breath away. We love our 4 legged guests, and with our gated confines, they are free to roam safely.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Matlacha has many waterfront rental properties, but we have yet to see one that is as clean and tastefully decorated as ours. If you care about that sort of thing, we're your best choice! We are constantly improving the property like it's our home, because it will be someday!
