En route from Cloverdale to Boonville on Highway 128, at 1,425 feet elevation in the scenic Yorkville Highlands of Anderson Valley, Woodhaven cottage occupies the former art studio, workshop on the Ravenridge property. Shaded by an old live oak, the cottage looks out to the surrounding forest of Douglas Fir, Madrone, and Redwood. The westward vista from the wooden deck beckons to the Mendocino coast beyond. Abundant bird and wildlife include year-round residents and seasonal visitors.
The spacious cottage has a high-pitched ceiling, skylights, and a wall of windows looking north. Soothing colors and contemporary furnishings create a relaxed yet sophisticated ambience. The wood-burning stove keeps the space cozy during chilly times of the year, with abundant seasoned Madrone from the property.

Why the Owner Chose Yorkville: A desire to return to our rural roots led us on a quest for a country property north of San Francisco. We thought Healdsburg was where we wanted to land, but instead – and most fortunately – we decided to expand our search into the "wilds" of Mendocino County. Rather than the small "fixer-upper" we'd envisioned, we discovered an established property with a large house and a second smaller residence with adjacent guest house. We were instantly smitten and concluded the purchase within less than 3 months of our initial viewing. The views from the main house are jaw-droppingl, with ever changing colors, textures, smells and wonder. Over the years since our purchase, we've made many improvements, both in terms of infrastructure and aesthetics. Extensive landscaping includes drought resistant plantings of shrubs that compliment the wide views of rolling hills. Fruit trees and grape vines share space with the flower, herb, and vegetable gardens. Surrounding forest and meadows provide habitat for abundant birds and wildlife, as well as inspiring views.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio: Quiet and tranquility are rate commodities for modern, urban dwellers – Ravenridge offers a soothing antidote to the stresses of modern life. Rustic sophistication and comfortable amenities create a restorative ambience.
