Family memories are made here. Overlooking the romantic moors of the south shore of Nantucket Island, you can hear the waves crashing in the distance. Situated on a quiet beach road, just five miles from bustling Nantucket town, we offer privacy and solace in an intimate seaside neighborhood. This house is not a generic rental home, and the owners are constantly remodeling and upgrading to give their guests the best vacation experience possible at this very special island retreat. In 2011, the house was treated to new bathrooms, Anderson windows, siding an expanded children's bunkroom and a stone patio enclosing the hot tub.

This 1900 square foot "upside-down" house offers very distant ocean views, with windows galore that make you feel as if you are outside all year long. Spotlessly clean and impeccably maintained, this lovely home features classic island design, a light and airy living area, central air conditioning for the bedrooms, hand-painted seascape murals, custom tile work, a tropical fish aquarium, freshly cut hydrangeas from the garden, country pine and leather furniture, cathedral ceilings with beams, refinished pine flooring, upgraded stainless steel appliances in the kitchen with wrap-around island, two decks and a rich, soothing cranberry master bedroom suite with a huge king bed, full bath and its own private entrance.

There are three bedrooms on the ground floor featuring firm high quality mattresses, plus a full loft on the third floor (accessible by ship's ladder)offering a queen sleeper sofa. On the main floor, there is an additional leather queen sized sleeper sofa and another bathroom. Your home away from home!

We leave nothing to chance regarding comfort and convenience for our guests, with appointments in every room and special attention to details. We even offer our own private Nantucket nanny, for those evenings out in town! The brand new HotSprings hot tub off the master bedroom deck bubbles under the starry Nantucket sky; rinse off in the adjacent enclosed outdoor shower, if desired.

Linens, towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, pails, shovels, huge stainless steel gas barbeque, Cuisinart, Super Nintendo, Playstation 2, Wii, four TV's (featuring Comcast digital service), a safe for your valuables, two irons, great toys, baby equipment (high chair, booster seat, two pack-n-play's), even popsicles in the freezer await you! Books, huge video/DVD library, board games, and a large fully landscaped front, back and side yard (with play equipment for the children) to relax in.

Our guests will receive a large welcome packet in the mail several weeks before their stay, as well as champagne and chocolates at check-in. Our signature breakfast basket with hot ham and cheese potatoes banana coconut rum muffins, Nantucket cranberry cinnamon rolls, assorted breads, blackberry preserves, Nantucket Coffee Roasters blend, a whole fresh pineapple and seasonal fruits are delivered to your front door on your first morning with us. (Weekly rentals only). We also offer an optional concierge package for an extra fee to stock your fridge and pantry, with a wine and cheese welcome and a hot island breakfast for your entire party the first morning after arrival.

Far enough from the crowds in Nantucket, yet closer to the supermarket and other services than most other outlying areas on the island. Bike paths will take you either to the picturesque village of Sconset or to the more than 80 miles of Nantucket beaches. The Tom Nevers area of the island features natural foliage, a surrounding ring of conservation land, expansive views and miles of secluded beaches. Upside down houses with sizable yards and spacious decks are scattered throughout this wide expanse, home to a mix of year-round and summer residents. Despite its density, Tom Nevers has a rural atmosphere. You might hear a rooster crow and many bird species enjoy this natural habitat. At the end of Tom Nevers Road, there is a playground on the former Navy base.Tom Nevers and its road along the bluff are close to the beautiful beach and approximately ten minutes from mid-island shopping. The higher elevation and gentle rises offer cooler breezes than the rest of the island.

Tom Nevers/Madequesham beaches are only 1.8 miles from home and offers some of the best surfing and fishing on the island, (without the summer crowds). Other popular beaches can be reached via the shuttle bus that stops just down the street at the intersection of Tom Nevers and Milestone Roads. We are one mile away from two of the best golf courses in the world. The town is an easy twenty minute bike ride or ten minute bus ride away.

Take your four-wheel drive out to secluded Great Point to fish and see the sunrise! Enjoy numerous shops and restaurants, museums, library, art galleries, live theater and entertainment. Try a historic stroll or even a ghost walk at night! At the wharves you can sign up for fishing trips or join available bus, taxi or walking tours of the island.

If you like quiet enjoyment of nature, relax on our upstairs deck overlooking the moors, grill out some fresh fish gazing at the ocean or try star-gazing from our telescope at night! Fogged in? Our house offers so many games and activities for your entire family to enjoy! Great for reunions, weddings or entertaining! Have an amazing vacation at Sea Caste.

Nantucket Family Home W/ Hot Tub, Breakfast and Close to Beach

Year Purchased: 1995

Why the Owner Chose Tom Nevers (Tom Nevers Pond)

We chose to build in the Tom Nevers/South Shore area because we love the solitude and peace it offers. You can bike or walk to the beach easily. Years before, when we used to rent, we would stay in town. Although this offered convenience because we could walk to the downtown area, we craved sunlight and respite from the traffic and noise summer crowds bring. We can now spend a lovely day at the beach, and continue to enjoy nature well after we return home, as we sit on our upstairs deck and enjoy a cocktail as the sun sets. What could be better than this?

The Unique Benefits at this House

The main living area is all windows, and there is nothing quite like that first peek out on Nantucket in the morning, while everyone still sleeps. Its like our piece of heaven, scenic and tranquil. And, of course, everyone's favorite is the hot tub! On your first Nantucket morning, you will be treated to an overflowing basket of Nantucket cranberry cinnamon rolls, banana coconut muffins, fresh pineapple and bananas.

Owner's Map of Tom Nevers (Tom Nevers Pond)

What is it like to be in love with where you live? Let us count the ways . . . We have been Nantucket homeowners since 1993. Tired of the "shuffle" back and forth, we sold our Seneca Castle, New York six bedroom farmhouse, moving here full-time from the Finger Lakes area in September 2007. It was the best thing we ever did. We love Nantucket! Karl owns a property management company on island and Christine has a private family psychotherapy practice. We love hosting families who come to visit the island and pride ourselves on going the extra mile to make sure their long-awaited vacation is everything they have dreamed of. From fishing advice to helping find babysitters, because we are on-island, we are here to help you. You will not find another rental home that offers the personalized "B and B" touch quite like ours. We take your vacation seriously.

Thank You!!!

Date of Stay: 06/03/11 Review Submitted: 06/06/11

My wife and I, as well as two other couples, stayed at Sea Castle this past weekend. I was a little nervous being the one responsible for finding a spot to stay, but we all could not have been more pleased. This house rocked! The owner, Christine, graciously allowed us to check-in early (our boat came in at noon) and was there at the house to greet us, give us the keys, explain the hot tub as well as answer our questions. She had left a bottle of champagne and box of chocolates for us in the master bedroom. The house and grounds are beautiful and impeccably maintained; they apparently just finished remodeling; some of the house shingles are still not grayed up in Nantucket style. This is an "upside down" house, so the kitchen and living room are on the second floor, with so many windows that you literally forget you are in a house! Gorgeous views! We went out the first night (sample menus in kitchen drawer!) and ate at the RopeWalk at Christine's recommendation. Awesome! We were back in town for a wedding Saturday afternoon, and after that picked up fresh seafood and brought it home to grill. The kitchen was fully stocked with just about every spice and cooking utensil, too. The deck offered the perfect sunset; and the living room was a great space to reconnect. This vacation house is wonderful, and has whatever you need to feel at home, every amenity you could possibly think of, right down to the provision of laundry soap and aloe for the sunburns we got! We loved just hanging out on the deck, as well as the HUGE hot tub. We did not want to leave! We are hoping to book a week in September and return to this wonderful home. Thanks so much Christine and Karl! See you soon, Sea Castle!

Two weeks in paradise

Guest: Anonymous
Date of Stay: 09/14/10 Review Submitted: 11/04/10

The property is located in a tranquil residential area, within a 5-minute drive from an uncrowded beach, ten minutes from a supermarket, two seafood market well-stocked with fresh fish including lobsters and a package and other stores. The center of town is about five minutes further. The house is “upside down” so as to give views of the island including spectacular sunsets from the upstairs rooms. The lot is landscaped with lawns for play areas and hedges for privacy. It has its own spacious parking area. An outside shower is a welcome amenity after returning from the beach. The house is spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, particularly the upstairs living room featuring nautical artifacts and comfortable leather-upholstered furniture. Kitchen and laundry appliances are state-of-the art, including an enormous refrigerator-freezer. The kitchen is well stocked with crockery, flatware, utensils and appliances. As regards shopping and eating out, Nantucket boasts fashionable boutiques as well as more pedestrian stores of all kinds and family-style to elegant gourmet eateries. The town of Nantucket is a sightseer’s and history buff’s paradise, from the ship’s ballast-paved Main Street to the quiet back streets – all of which conform to the architectural standards of an old whaling port. There are movie and repertory theatres, museums and a unique, giant farm store, giving visitors plenty to do even on rainy days. The property’s owners live nearby. They are accessible and helpful when asked for advice or assistance. To us, Nantucket is uniquely relaxing while offering plenty of recreation and entertainment.

Our splendid week in Nantucket

Guest: The Brits (London, England)
Date of Stay: 08/15/10 Review Submitted: 09/12/10

This extraordinarily well-stocked family home was perfectly placed for our multi-generational holiday. The oldies were thrilled to be able to explore the island, while the young and young-at-heart appreciated the perfect waves on the closest surfside beaches: endless and uncrowded. Pre-trip info and advice from owners was invaluable, and their proximity meant we could also benefit from advice when we got our rental van stuck in a thigh-high puddle! High points for all included soaks in the hot tub each evening and then nightly explorations of the games cupboard and video/DVD shelf after dinner. We recommend this property very highly indeed (ages 7-51!)

Charming Family Vacation Home

Guest: BoSox11 (Boston, MA)
Date of Stay: 07/11/10 Review Submitted: 08/12/10

What a fantastic place. We have been coming to Nantucket for over 20 years and this is the best home we have ever rented. The house was bright and airy, exceedingly well maintained, and supplied with just about everything one could need. We loved the extra touches offered, welcome gifts, champagne, breakfast, extra sweatshirts, games, movies, blankets, large yard and so on. Its location was perfect, close to our favorite beach, Madequesham, and only a short ride to town. Close to the bike path and shuttle bus, my kids were thrilled to be so independent. My husband jogged to the beach every morning while my parents and kids sat on the beautiful deck, listening to the ocean and planning our day. My favorite was the hot tub at night after the kids went to bed. This is a home you can truly relax in and reconnect with family. We cannot wait until next year when we can return to our "Sea Castle". We are glad to have found it!
