Charleston house description
Only 10 minutes easy drive into the heart of the city across the Ravenel bridge, 5 minutes drive through the low country marshland to the sandy beaches at Sullivan's Island and a short stroll to the historic Old Village of Mt Pleasant or the restaurants and bars on beautiful Shem Creek for a sunset cocktail looking out across the shrimp boats...wonderful!
Our modern, light and airy 3 level townhouse home has full facilities and a screened deck to enjoy morning coffee or an evening drink plus a double garage to keep your car in the shade.
The top floor has two large bedrooms, both with spacious en-suite bathrooms to ensure privacy for all guests, and a laundry room with washer and dryer.
The open plan living area on 2nd floor has a fully equipped kitchen delightfully flooded with daylight from both sides of the house, a separate dining area and a large lounge space with cable TV plus DVD player and a small balcony looking down on to the communal garden area and fountain. The whole house has secure wi-fi.
The local farmers market is located right across the street every Tuesday from Spring thru Fall for fresh produce and great cooked food and snacks, and Coleman Blvd has plenty more quality boutique restaurants, bars and coffee shops within an easy walk or drive.

- The house is in a delightful, quiet, upscale development, tucked away behind Coleman Boulevard. The Boulevard itself has everything you could need within walking distance, including a Starbucks, banks, gift shops and local caterers offering quality ready meals to buy. Wholefoods and Traders Joe are a 5 mins drive and fresh seafood is available direct from the fishermen and shrimpers on Shem Creek. There are countless boutique restaurants and bars all within easy walking distance of the house and a short 5 mins drive will take you to the Islands and downtown to add even more choices for your culinary delight. Our particular favorites are Poe's on Sullivans Island, The Post House in the Old Village (walkable from the house), SNOB and High Cotton downtown. Watch the dolphins at sunset on Shem Creek, while you enjoy a drink or a meal in one of the excellent restaurants and creek side bars there. For the summer season the local Farmers Market is 2 mins stroll away every Tuesday, while the bigger market is downtown in Marion Square on Saturdays. Join locals as they walk the Pitt St Bridge to see the Intra Coastal Waterway, the Ravenel Bridge with its wonderful view of Charleston Harbor and the new Shem Creek nature walk. The whole area is rich in history. Fort Sumpter, Middleton Plantation, Magnolia Gardens and Boon Hall are a must as well as all the houses and sites of downtown Charleston. Culturally Charleston is alive with wonderful opportunities. Go on an art walk or a horse carriage ride, check out the massive annual Spoletto Festival. ...moreless

Lovely Home and Great Location!
Lovely Home and Great Location!
I just wanted to thank you for sharing your lovely home with us during our recent Charleston visit! Love, love, love your house and your decorating tastes! It was just so warm and cozy, and really felt like a home. Such a wonderful place to come to after busy days running around and trying to soak up all there is to do and see! We were able to laze on the beach and run all over the city as well. You have wonderful friends and caretakers that were so helpful! Well, back to reality at home. So nice to have great vacation memories as we go forward :)

There were four in our party, 2 couples, so lay out of home was perfect for us. Word of caution - make sure you can do steps- it is a three level town home with 10" ceilings = lots of steps! What we didn't like was the construction that was taking place all around us. To be fair Judy did send me an email a few days before our stay to let me know the developer was beginning additional phases. I will say the construction was more than a few days into its progress. One of the men in our group was from the west coast and was moving over to Wild Dunes for a week of meetings, and wanted to freshen up his shirts, but could not because there was not an iron in the laundry room. The dryer repair person was there upon arrival, dryer was not functioning during our stay. We hadn't planned on needing a dryer and thankfully we didn't need one. The house was well stocked with towels, kitchen appliances etc. We did not miss for anything. The location of the home isn't great to be honest. I had a fairly good concept of location prior to arrival so no surprises. If I was in there area longer than a weekend, it would not be my first choice. We could and did walk to Shem Creek and a good wine store but that is about it. About a 10 minute drive into historic Charleston - and then the dreaded search for a parking place. By the time we returned to the home after a day of sightseeing, we chose to cancel our reservations at Poogan's Porch for dinner, because the drive back into the city was too daunting. About 15 minutes to Sullivan's Island and the beach. If you do chose to stay at this home, make sure you eat at Charleston Cafe for breakfast - fabulous! While Judy was a great communicator and the home was lovely and comfortable, the location most probably would not bring us back.

Owner response: So happy that you thought the home was lovely and comfortable, everybody else who stays says the same about our lovely house. We’re sorry the location wasn’t to your liking, all our other guests have described it as perfect for their Charleston area stay. As well as the nearby beautiful Shem Creek with it’s bars, restaurants and creekside park there is the historic Mt Pleasant old village (scene of many movies) and an abundance of ‘non-chain’ restaurants and bars all within 2 minutes drive before you even have to make the short 10 minute drive or taxi ride downtown. In the same plaza as that great wine and beer store there is a huge indoor antiques market and a delightful indoor crafts and gifts mall full of traders booths called “Southern Accents” . Both perfect for finding souvenirs, and less than 5 minutes stroll from the house. The iron was actually in a drawer in the laundry room. We were trying our hardest to get the washing machine repaired before you arrived because it’s door latch had been broken, possibly from being forced open by somebody previously in the house. Our house keeper informed us she offered to provide free washing service until the machine was repaired if you required it, and would have been happy to locate the iron for you if asked. She is always available to help and highly professional. We do state clearly in the description that it is a 3 level town house with no elevator. Downtown Charleston is usually busy in the evenings at the weekends simply because it is such a delightful historic city and on a small peninsular which is definitely part of it’s charm and makes it a perfect city for walking rather than driving. There are lots of multi-level car parks and easier to use these than to try find parking spaces, unless you prefer valet parking which is plentiful downtown as well. We definitely apologize for the inconvenience of the nearby construction. This was something we didn’t know anything about when we moved out of the house in the summer, and it was only when we revisited just before your stay we realized work had begun on the remaining townhouses in the development and let you know about the situation as soon as we could. Although the work takes place on weekdays rather than the weekend it must have looked unsightly when you arrived. We are sorry that it slightly took the edge off your stay. Sorry to hear your Poogan’s Porch visit didn’t happen, Charleston has so many wonderful place to eat doesn’t it!!
Our recent short visit to Charleston was absolutely wonderful. To add, our accommodations were top of the line! My interactions with Judy were wonderful. Almost immediately, she could detect my uneasiness with the rental process. Her patience and kindness through the process helped to alleviate my concerns. The home was very well decorated, spotless, and very well equipped. The location was wonderful! We were exactly 10 mins from downtown Charleston and 10 mins from Sullivan's Island. Very well worth the price!. Thanks to Andy and Judy for opening your doors to us.
