Gordes chateau / country house description
'Les Plaines'. A beautifully decorated and spacious country family home ideally situated on the outskirts of the medieval village of Murs (500 metres altitude) with breathtaking views and a fabulous secluded Heated Pool. Only eight kilometers from the famous perched village of Gordes and 30 kilometers from Sault 'lavender country' in the heart of the Luberon National Park.
The South facing terrace dominates the valley with an unique view over the Grand and Petit Luberon Hills as well as the Falaise de Lioux and the red ochre hills of Roussillon. This incredible view will allow you many memorable relaxing moments especially as the sun sets in the evening. This property is a haven of peace for those who wish to relax, paint, read or go for long walks through the beautiful unspoilt countryside (in particular around the Moulins de la Véroncle). A 5 minute stroll into the village to admire the view on the other side of the valley and buy fresh bread and croissants for breakfast
A mere hour drive away and you can visit: the Palais des Papes, le Pont d'Avignon or be fascinated by the festival of Avignon in July with its clowns and actors. Explore the Port of Marseille and its calanques, go horseriding in the Camargue and admire the bulls and pink flamingos.
The famous perched villages of Gordes, Roussillon 'the red ochre', Lacoste and the Marquis de Sade's Chateau, Bonnieux and Oppede le Vieux are all nearby and St Remy and Les Baux are within 30 minutes drive. The fountain of Vaucluse and its seven sorgues and the Abbaye de Senanque are within 10 minutes' drive and Le Mont Ventoux (1912 metres altitude) is within 45 minutes' drive.
Every day of the week there is a provencal market to visit where one can taste the olives and buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Not forgetting the excellent restaurants and local wine cellars, in an afternoon you can sample wines varying from Gigondas, Chateauneuf de Pape and Vacqueras to Cotes de Ventoux and Provence.
This light and airy 250 square-meter property, recently renovated and tastefully decorated, a mixture of antique and modern styles, is situated in 7000 square-meters of woodland and large stone terraces. The main south facing terrace is accessible from the lounge, dining room and two bedrooms by double French doors. Have lunch or dinner under the shady tonnelle on the large teak table whilst contemplating the view.
Stone steps lead to a lower terrace cut in the rock where the protected and secluded ten-by-five-meter heated swimming pool is nestled. The swimming pool has a salt water system and the surrounds are equipped with sun loungers, parasols and another shady tonnelle.
Step out from the fully equipped kitchen into a pretty flowered shady kitchen garden for breakfast or coffee or simply relax in the 60 square-meter sunny, comfortable lounge with its high ceilings by the impressive old stone fireplace near the television and library corner.
The fully equipped modern kitchen has a six-burner cook-top and oven with rotisserie, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. There are numerous pretty dishes, pots and pans and glass ware to use. There is a washing machine and dryer next to the kitchen.
The adjacent sunny dining room area has a long dining table and chairs to seat 10 persons. Two French doors open out onto the southern terrace and view.
The master bedroom has French doors and windows opening out onto the terrace there is a queen size bed, armoire and little armchairs and an ensuite bathroom with bath, shower, double basins and WC.
Further along you will find a twin-bedded (90-centimeter) room suitable for children and a light airy queen-bedded room with access, via French doors, to the terrace. Adjacent to these bedrooms is a second bathroom with double basins, bath and shower and water closet.
On the northern side of the house there are two very pretty twin-bedded (90-centimeter) rooms, between these rooms is a third bathroom with bath, shower, water closet and hand basins. All the bedrooms have cupboards, bedside tables and lamps. There is also a separate water closet.
There is also a wifi installation for those who still like to keep in contact with the rest of the world even on holiday.

An incredible month in the LuberonGuest comment entered by manager
An incredible month in the Luberon
Beverly....we, too, enjoyed meeting you, Sam, and Julien - thanks for making our stay so comfortable. We liked the house very much, as did Molly - it was very safe for her (and us for that matter), and the municipal campground at the end of the street was perfect for her to run off-leash. The patio, with its views south over the Luberon, are amazing, dawn to dusk. Lunch outside was particularly enjoyable, as was an apertif before sundown. It was nice to be able to walk to get fresh bread every morning, too. The hiking nearby (up to the Col de Murs) was lovely, something Amy took advantage of almost every morning. Murs is a peaceful, quiet little town, and very pretty at dawn and sundown. And being able to "sneak in" to Gordes the back way, was useful on Tuesday/market mornings! We thought the Gordes market the best of the smaller hill towns, by the way. Hard to beat Apt on Saturdays, though! The kitchen is up-to-date and fun to cook in, with a great range/cooktop. Modern refrigerator good, too. And a candle-lit dinner in the beautiful dining room was something we looked forward to every evening we ate home. All in all, we had an incredible month there, and would highly recommend the house! Hope,to see you again in the future.....

Fantastic time at our home away from home in Murs
Dear Beverly, We had a fantastic time at our home away from home in Murs! Couldn’t have asked for more. The kitchen was equipped with everything one could ever want or need. Definitely more than I have in my own home. The fabulous pool was a big hit with the kids – big and little! Library stocked with books galore and DVDs also. If you forgot to bring a book, you have no worries. There was something for everyone to read. Plenty of choices for eating also. Gas and charcoal BBQ grill included. Beverly left us with plenty of maps and had suggestions for places to go. She even highlighted where the closest and best markets were and which ones should be avoided. We lacked for nothing. Of course, we are all hoping to return some day. So much to see and do that even with two weeks one can’t do it all. We were a three generation family of eight. Cousins from near Grenoble, France visited us for a BBQ and there was plenty of room for all of us at the table. July 2013 Gayle Santa Monica, CA.

What a Gem!
What a Gem!
Beautiful house, spectacular view, great location. Thank you to Beverly for her outstanding services. She welcomed us warmly with flowers and wine, and she made sure that our stay was comfortable. We, 3 families (6 adults and 3 children) stayed 2 weeks. The pictures and listing of the house reflect exactly, and more, what you find at your arrival. You have everything you need, the kitchen is well equipped, the house is clean, the beds are comfortable, the patios and the garden delightful, etc.... I will not forget the swimming pool where the the 14 and 10 year-old girls spent a lot of time, even the 3 1/2 year old boy is still taking about it. The Luberon is such a beautiful region that we are talking about coming back, since we did not have enough time to do more exploring. Thank you again for these 2 wonderful weeks. I would recommend this house anytime.

Stunning location and fantastic views
"Our stay at Les Plaines was more than we ever could ask for, we would like to recommend the house and property to everyone, both its stunning location and its fantastic views over the Luberon valley area from the top of the hills in Murs. The house comforted every option, with nice beds, bathrooms, kitchen, living rooms and outside spaces. The very nice heated pool, nested between beautiful gardens, was just stunning. Pre and during our stay, Beverly organized everything for us in the most professional way and her committed engagement to make us all comfortable made our planning and stay even better. We hope to return to Les Plaines or one of the other beautiful homes in the area in the future. Also great thanks to the house owners that have made their property available with all its beauty and comfort. Les Plaines is a hidden gem, do not hesitate a second to take on a trip to this fantastic area both for biking, hiking and recreation holidays in Provence and all the beautiful cities nested around the area". I would also like to bring you the best regards from my travel companions, we all shared a wonderful time and enjoyed a lot of fun, food and wine on top of activity and local visits in the area. with all best wishes, Odd Arne

Lovely Christmas HolidayGuest comment entered by manager
Lovely Christmas Holiday
Dear Beverly, Thankyou _ we had the most wonderful holiday, due in no small part to the lovely house. It was warm and cosy yet spacious enough for all of us, and everything we needed was easy to find in the house. Your chocolates and wine were very much appreciated thankyou, and the firewood was very welcome. We enjoyed visiting the local weekly markets and found the friendliness of the local store-owner so welcoming. Her baguettes and pain au chocolat are to die for!! We would love to return someday! Kind regards, Jane

Ours was a multi-family stay at Les Plaines and we are all still raving about it. The house was lovely, and the view was spectacular. It was so relaxing to sit in the shade, read a book, and look at the view of the valley. The kids loved the pool. The location was very convenient; you could easily spend the days visiting the nearby towns. A really top-notch stay.

Stunning views and fabulous location
Hi Beverly, Thanks so much for setting up Les Plaines for us. The house is lovely and was really comfortable for our family. We enjoyed the stunning views from the back patio every evening, winding down each day with a drink and BBQ gorgeous The kitchen is well equipped, beds cosy and everything in good working order. The location is fabulous, within easy reach of several unique villages and sights Gordes, Roussillon, Ocre Footpath, Ocre mine, Grottes de Thouzon and the cliffs at Lioux. We also managed to explore some of the surrounding hiking trails, only got lost once The tiny grocery store in Murs is a 3minute walk and had fresh baguettes every morning. We would love to return some day. Cheers, Katrina & Bruce

Perfect home base for our Provence vacation
Perfect home base for our Provence vacation
My family (3 adults, 3 young children) stayed at this wonderful home in late June/early July 2012. We had a splendid time. Beverly was lovely to work with and made sure our stay was comfortable and smooth. We arrived on a very hot day in Provence with three cranky, car-sick kids, and the second we stepped into Les Plaines and saw the view, the grounds, and the pool, we felt our spirits lift. We loved everything about this villa – the spacious floorplan, the sweeping views of the Luberon, the well-stocked kitchen, and of course the gorgeous pool! This location was perfect for exploring the charming towns and markets of the Luberon. Even with a 7 year old, a 4 year old, and a newborn, we managed to see a lot – Les Baux, Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, and Menerbes to name a few. A small circus passed through the nearby town of Murs during our stay – an unexpected delight for our family. We highly recommend Les Plaines to anyone visiting Provence, and we genuinely hope to return one day.

Great family retreat
Great family retreat
Les Plaines was an excellent choice for our 2 week family reunion. The rustic exterior belies a thoroughly modern interior with all the conveniences of a well appointed residence. The secluded swimming pool, the breathtaking views of the Luberon and the overall ambience of the place simply must be experienced to be fully appreciated. The well stocked local convenience store where we went daily for bread, pastries, etc treated us like locals. Beverly was extremely attentive and helpful before and throughout our visit. We left Les Plaines reluctantly and we would return in a heartbeat!
