Great family retreat

Les Plaines was an excellent choice for our 2 week family reunion. The rustic exterior belies a thoroughly modern interior with all the conveniences of a well appointed residence. The secluded swimming pool, the breathtaking views of the Luberon and the overall ambience of the place simply must be experienced to be fully appreciated. The well stocked local convenience store where we went daily for bread, pastries, etc treated us like locals. Beverly was extremely attentive and helpful before and throughout our visit. We left Les Plaines reluctantly and we would return in a heartbeat!

Dear Beverly, We had great vacation and had a safe trip back. This is the place you want to take a family vacation! The house is great, well equipped , clean and located in the best possible place. Murs is a beautiful little town in the middle of the Lavender country. We took day trips to several attractions and the central location of the house allow us to return on time and still enjoy the gorgeous private pool. Beverly was always there to help and advise! Thank you for a great time. Yours Achi

We, a family of four adults and two children, have just returned from two weeks at Les Plaines. If you read all the positive reviews and tripple the reponses, you will have a very good notion of the house. Any negative reviews should be resolutely disregarded. The house is large, commodius and works well for a group. There are spaces for everyone to have privacy to read, to sun or swim. It is a great retreat after a full day of investigating all the coutryside around. Cheers to Beverly!!

If you are looking for a spacious home with the most GORGEOUS view, look no further. We are a family of four that rented this lovely home in May of 2011. Although we knew the home would have too many bedrooms for us, both the view and the pool attracted us to rent. We were not disappointed in any way at all! In fact, the pool was so nice, it was difficult to leave to go site seeing. My husband and I loved sitting on the porch with a glass of wine, just taking in the view. The home is located in the very small town of Murs, which is very close to Gordes. You will definitely need a car to get around for site seeing. We enjoyed Gordes, Avignon, St. Remy, Les Baux, and an overnight stay to Carcassonne and the Cathar castles - Queribus and Peyrepertuse. A very long drive, but highly recommended (not with small children). Beverly was absolutely wonderful to work with from beginning to end. If we needed anything, she was there to help us. I only hope our paths will cross again in life because we did not have enough time to get to know each other more. The house was very clean and fresh flowers were right outside our window sills. We were welcomed with a bottle of local wine and chocolates to help celebrate our 30th anniversary. I would highly recommend this property. Our two older children were traveling with us, ages 23 and 19 years old, and although there is not much night life here, we all enjoyed ourselves immensely!

Hi Beverly, I just wanted to write a quick note to say thank you so much! The week was amazing! The house was so wonderful. Thank you so much for heating the pool. Even though the weather was not so great, we were able to swim everyday with our 3 year old. Even our 11 month old swam in the rain! The house was perfect for the two families. The toys at the house were awesome for the kids because they always love new toys (even though we brought some too). The chef Cosette was wonderful and Natalie was great too. It was the trip of a lifetime! Thanks again! Chaise and family

This is a gorgeous location, and a lovely house. The house is very comfortable, with a modern, well-equipped kitchen and great living spaces. Every was in working order, the rooms were clean with nice bedding. Lots of toys for the kids and books and movies for the adults. But the location is truly magnificent. The photos do not do justice to the amazing view from the terrace. Beverly was very attentive, checking in on us to make sure we didn't need anything. Murs is a sweet village, but Gordes, a few minutes away, is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Even in the winter this vacation was fantastic. We hope to be back soon. - Roberta and Sean, Salem, MA, U.S.A.

A Wonderful Family Holiday

Our family of 7 adults and 2 preschoolers had a wonderful 2 week holiday here in Sept 2010. The location allowed us to sightsee a different area for 14 days. We went to The Med, the beautiful villages of The Luberon, The Vaucluse, Mount Ventoux, Avignon, Orange etc. The view from the patio was exceptional. The house worked very well for our family and many hours were spent in the gorgeous swimming pool. It was the highlight for our 4 year old grandson! He also enjoyed the many toys left by the other renters. It was convenient for us to have the highchair and the crib. The property was very clean and maintained and it was great having Beverly so close, as she seemed to be able to answer any questions. It was a holiday that we will all remember and we have already recommended the house to friends and family.

This is the second year running that we have had the great pleasure of staying at Les Plaines and once again we had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and very well maintained by the fabulous Beverly. It is clean and extremely comfortable and perfect for our needs. The kitchen is very well equipped, the washing machine works well and whilst I would avoid laundry on holiday if I could (no chance with a baby) it is made better by the fabulous view of the Luberon when pegging it out! We have three young children who love the toy cupboard, the DVD collection, the bikes and, of course, the pool! Perhaps more importantly, we love the fact that it is so safe for them. There are gates to the front of the property and across the back terrace which effectively gives them a big, safe area to play in and crucially means we don't need to monitor them constantly but can instead relax ourselves! We were joined by friends and extended family for much of our stay and spent many a lazy evening on the terrace enjoying good food and wine and never tiring of the magnificent view. This is indeed a special place, made all the more so by Beverly who is kind and accommodating and does all she can to make her guests feel at home. For instance she did a shop for us so that (instead of dragging the children round the supermarket after our 7 hour journey) we could jump straight in the pool, something that was appreciated by all 5 of us! We know we have found a perfect holiday villa in a beautiful region of France and have already rebooked for next year!

October 3 -10 2010 Rental

We have rented many times through VRBO (and 6 times in Europe) and so have some basis for comparison. This house was a disappointment to us. The location is as advertised and truly great, but the house itself is in need of maintenance. The roof was leaky and caused a suitcase in one bedroom to get wet. The patio area was in need of cleanup and the pool was not useable until Thursday because it needed to be vacuumed. Several of the bedrooms did not have adequate space for removing clothing from suitcases which is something we like about staying in a place for a week...we get to unpack. The lighting inside the house was such that it was difficult to find a place to sit and read which several in our party wanted. We thought that a coffee pot that only made 2 cups at a time was not really appropriate for a five bedroom house. We were able to easily (and inexpensively) buy one, but were disappointed in the response we got when when we inquired about the lack of one. This kind of got us off to a bad start.
Owner response:We take pride in presenting a well maintained, clean house and grounds for our guests to enjoy when they are visiting Provence. While these guest were with us there was a very intense and violent thunderstorm which caused an unusual amount of leaves and limbs to come from the surrounding trees. Our beautiful pool is maintained weekly by local professionals from April to end of October, it also has a cover over it in the Fall. We are very sorry that these guests had a less than satisfactory experience and hope that they will return one day to this magnificent part of the Provence.

We had a wonderful time at this lovely, well-kept chateau. The house is well-laid out, the pool well maintained (with many pool toys and floats), the chairs/sofas comfortable. The property was clean and well maintained. The different areas to sit outside were all picturesque, the views over the Luberon stunning. Driving to small local towns was easy, and each had it's own flair. The information left by the caretaker is thorough and helpful. The house is a wonderful place to vacation - we did so with children aged 7 to 16 - and it works for them, and would work with adults only. Highly recommended!
