  • Romantic Getaway for two...

"My husband and I stayed for a week at the townhouse and had a very romantic getaway. We are very busy people and needed a place to truly relax and get away from the city, yet close enough in case our jobs needed us back for an emergency. The place was spotless and perfect! The view from the balcony and the living room were amazing. In the mornings we had breakfast in the master bedroom balcony. In the evenings we had a BBQ and a few times we ended up taking our lunch and or afternoon snack to the Gazebo. The community is very quiet and serene. There is a marina close by and we were able to rent a boat and go out fishing in the Anstruther Lake. Days were long and quiet, a very romantic setting. At the same time, the place gave us the luxuries of a hotel. We had great internet connection (cell phone coverage is not good, better off buying a calling card and use the townhouse land line). The flat screen TV and DVD gave us the option to watch a few movies (which we rented in the town of Apsley 15 minutes away and cheaper than renting at Rogers). The linens and beds were ultra comfortable and the washrooms were impeccable. We were amazed at the quality of the home appliances. Stainless steel kitchen appliances and very good quality washer and dryer. Overall, my husband and I would recommend this place to anyone who needs to get away and relax, without compromising the comforts of home."

  • Buckhorn summer 2013

"In 2013, we spent a wonderful two weeks at this cottage. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog; we spent the days relaxing on the dock, fishing on the lake, napping in our hammock hung by the dock, watching the boats coming into the locks, and exploring the area by canoe (and rented paddleboard). Being self contained on the island was great - we really appreciated the ability to simply open the cottage door to let the dog come and go without worrying about him bothering any neighbours. The cottage did not feel too big for the "three" of us, yet could easily accommodate more. There is good privacy, with lots of trees, and still open enough for nice views of the lake. Two of the bedrooms even walk right out onto the patio, which is convenient and really gives you the feel of being outdoors. It has everything you could need (and more), is clean, comfortable and homey (since it is used as a family cottage too by the owners). The owners were great at answering any questions we had in advance and making sure we were comfortable. We liked it so much we're going back this year."

  • Former long time cottage owner

"The cottage was absolutely fantastic. On a great lake perfect for kids. Boats & watercraft do not come near the dock so it is very safe. Long dock & diving platform really great. Close to Peterborough where we live .A perfect place for our large family with lots of grandkids. We have rented 2 years in a row & loved it both times. We came to think of it as our place. Lots of room on all three levels of the cottage. Room to spread around & not feel crowded even with a larger group. As cottagers of 35 years we are pretty experienced . I cannot think of even one negative thing to say about this wonderful cottage on White Lake."
