  • 5 stars for Sonia

"The high points of the apartment is clearly the location (central but with parking facilities), the interiors and the magnificent terrace. Could not be better. Close to everything, but on a side street that opens onto a lovely quiet little square. Has a charming sun exposed terrace with windows and French windows connecting indoor and outdoor: that is wonderful for people who are looking for privacy and Italian charm--or for total relaxation. Perfect! Sonia’s communications before were helpful and she met us on arrival and was available for any question. During our 4 weeks stay she visited us several times, she became almost part of our family. We loved to have someone reliable and kind that could assist us in case of need. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 spacious bathrooms. All of the bedrooms are located off the lounge and very private. This was a real plus for us. The laundry room even had washing machine. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped and there was olive oil, a selection of herbs, sugar, coffee as well as a bottle of water and a bottle of wine provided which was very nice. The location was great. Lots of restaurants, cafes and a market within easy walking distance. We walked everywhere it was about 5/10 minutes from the central bus station. Most other attractions were nearer than this. The apartment provides a platform for a wonderful extended stay in Lucca and a perfect base to visit all over Tuscany and more. Thanks to signora Sonia and her team! Judy and Stephen from Michigan USA"

  • Amazing experience!

"Our stay at Home Hill Holiday was beyond amazing. The setting is incredible. The apartments are spacious, beautifully appointed, all equipped with full kitchens and luxurious bathrooms. The communal space with pool, bath house and full kitchen and large eating area made dining together easy, beautiful and relaxing. The pool area is breathtaking. Everything has been thought of from pots and pans and cutting boards to olive oil, of course, and salt and pepper. The owners, Loredana and Alessando, are so gracious. The best pizza of the trip was had by the villa owner himself throwing a pizza party for all of us. And we were even able to make our American coffee while still having Classic Italian espresso. I was really happy to have rented the whole villa with friends and family and have it all to ourselves. There's a great restaurant that uses a wood burning oven for their pizzas across the street and a gelateria very close as well. The two banks just next door and a small grocery market within walking distance make it easy to get what is needed with little effort. If you like to walk or hike, there are great paths into the mountains where you can see some historical villas and even go wine tasting. Rent a car or get car service and you are inside the city walls of Lucca in 10 minutes. There is also lots to do beyond going to the beautiful walled city of a Lucca or lounging by Home Hill's incredible pool. Tanya, the property manager was amazing in arranging wine tours in Montecarlo, bringing in a private chef to cook for us one night which was one of the best meals of my life, and getting into Lucca to hear the Puccini opera in the main piazza. The bottom line: this was an incredible, authentic and unique 2 week Tuscan get-away."

  • The Highlight of Our Vacation!

"One of the best choices we made in planning our 3 week vacation in Italy was booking Villa Alventura! Our group of 3 couples did a lot of research to find the perfect villa and the helpful advice of owner Anne prior to booking was the deciding factor in making our choice. With a GPS and good instructions we were able to find our way from Florence airport where we had rented our van. On arrival we all fell in love with our new home with the amazing views and Tuscan feel. We appreciated the little touches like fresh fruit, a bottle of wine, and washcloths! Every couple was happy with their spacious bedroom/bathroom and we couldn’t wait to enjoy the pool and many outdoor seating areas with amazing views. We got groceries at the nearby supermarket and spent the next day just enjoying the villa; one of our best days! We were fortunate to be able to enjoy the pool in late September. I had reservations about being so far from central Tuscany but in hindsight it was nice to be in a less touristy area. We took a day trip to Lucca and biked on the wall; spent a day exploring in Barga; took a cooking class in our villa arranged by Anne; explored the local wine route; and took a day trip to Cinque Terre (I highly recommend you let Anne guide you as we did). As much as we enjoyed these outings, we found we were always eager to get back “home”! I would recommend you have your own vehicle, however I do think you could book this villa and just tour with Anne as she provides airport transfers and many options for exploring the area. Don’t forget to spend some time just living “la Bella Vita” at Villa Alventura and in the lovely town of Barga!"
