  • Stay here! The Sweet Retreat has everything you need, could want and more!!

"Look no further, you found the place to be!! My family and I had the fortune of staying here at the Sweet Retreat for an extended period of time. The cleanliness, incredibly nice quality furnishings, fully stocked kitchen, linens, beautiful art, high-end BBQ, gorgeous mountain views, and more are by far superior. Not to mention the opportunities for wildlife viewing right from the Sweet Retreat - including Elk, deer, bunnies, birds, chipmunks, oh my! The Sweet Retreat is even nicer in person than the pictures. And there's plenty of room that would give a large group much elbow room. The layout also keeps you from feeling cramped given the upstairs with the loft that has lots of comfortable seating, 2 bedrooms and a large bathroom in between (good separation). The downstairs is just as spacious and comfortable with a large great room, dining area, kitchen, 1/2 bath, large master bedroom with a large master bath and walk in closet. You'll also find lots of helpful, informative, and interesting literature for your enjoyment. Games too! The location is great - close to everything! Its only a short 15 minute drive to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. And less than 5 minutes to the charming downtown. If you're up for a stroll, you can even walk to Lake Estes and along the beautiful lake on the path right into downtown. Or just walk to the lake and take in the extraordinary views. Or go golfing. Or go paddle boating. Or do it all and then some - there is so much to do! The Waterfront Grille is in walking distance too, and makes for a scrumptious dining and/or fun drink experience while the views take your breath away. Just as wonderful as the Sweet Retreat are the owners! Their sincere concern for their guests happiness and providing an incredible vacation home is remarkable and impressive. Stay here! You will be glad you did :)"

  • An Excellent Choice!

"This house was perfect for our family's visit to Boulder for a niece's wedding. It worked so much better for us than 3 hotel rooms. The property photos and description were totally accurate. How nice to park the rental car and take the short walk to the Pearl Street dining and shopping area. We highly recommend this property and would not hesitate to book it again!"

  • Rustic Charm

"Six of us enjoyed our stay at the cabin from 8/6 to 8/13. Looking at the pictures, we were a little concerned it might be a tad small for two senior citizens, two adults and two five-year-olds to cohabitate comfortably for a week, but the price was right, and besides, I had read in other reviews that the pictures do not do the place justice, so we took a chance. After seeing it in person, I think the photographer might have used whatever the opposite of a fisheye lens is. The cabin is listed as having two bedrooms, but the sun room can be, and was, claimed as a third by my boys, and they loved it. They got to see the supermoon shining through the wall of windows in “their” bedroom. (There are windows everywhere in that cabin.) The patio and two of the bedrooms sit right on the river. There is nothing quite like sleeping to the sound of that river! My mom, an incurable insomniac, says she slept the best she has ever slept in her life. The property managers were very quick to respond to our request for propane. The kitchen is well stocked. The location is perfect. It is secluded enough, yet minutes from everything. We were visited by a deer that dined right outside the picture window that overlooks the river and a badger that played hide and seek in the tall grass (apparently few in Estes Park mow, better to attract the wildlife I guess); we saw several magpies, hummingbirds and some giant, weird looking flying insect that I still cannot identify. The cabin is lacking in certain modern amenities like a flat screen/digital TV (it’s got an old tube), a dishwasher and laundry but that was okay (and made even more okay by the Wi-Fi it does have). The Laundromat is a quarter of a mile away and in the same building as a grocery store and gift shop. I don’t usually get to shop while I’m doing laundry, so I was happy. For the first few days we were there, we were cussing what appeared to be a fairly new oven because nothing was cooking right. We’re from Oklahoma. We don’t have to adjust cooking temps for altitude. So if you can remember to do that, the oven works great. The only change I would make would be to add another chair, either to the table or to another part of the cabin. The table only seats four. There is another chair in the living room that can be moved to the dining room, but that still left one person standing to eat. I might also update the TV. And get sharper knives. We really loved that cabin."

  • Wonderful cabin for family get-away

"My wife and I took our family here. We have 3 young kids. The house itself is wonderful. Spacious, a nice kitchen, and the upstairs is really nice. The house was very well stocked with supplies, both in the kitchen and elsewhere. We enjoyed fires in the wood-burning stove, and we really enjoyed the wrap-around deck with gates. There were constantly humming birds at the feeders. The creek was also fun behind the property. Because the area is dense with vegetation and wildlife, we kept kids close because you can't see the creek from the house. There is plenty to do very nearby. Saint Mary's Glacier is very close by, and definitely worth the hike. We had no problem filling our 7 day vacation and wished we could fit more in. We really enjoyed driving the route that takes you northwest to Rocky Mountain National Park. We are from the flat midwest, so driving the mountain road you take up to the house took some getting used to. We did deal with some car and altitude sickness, because the house is really at over 10,000 feet. The drive from the highway up the mountain is about 20 minutes. This isn't a complaint, just an fyi to others, especially parents of young kids. Overall a great experience and highly recommended."
