Comfortable and Clean
"First time staying with this owner and not disappointed. The home is well cared for and clean. The property manager was prompt to let me in, and at time of checkout for the walk thru. The home was as described with a well equipped kitchen and linens etc. The dock was perfect for the boat and the freezer worked well. I will definitely stay here in the future and recommend to friends."

"Thanks Gay for allowing us the opportunity to stay in your rental unit again. As always, it was neat, clean, bright and well equipped for any quest. The Keys are a favorite spot for our family to visit. We have been coming down for 30 plus years and enjoying morning coffee on the balcony, lazy days at the Cabana Club pool, fishing off the sea wall, good eats at all the local establishments, and resting our heads in great comfortable beds! Hope to see you again soon!"

"My family of 4 (including 2 children ages 7&8) have vacationed in this home the past 2 summers. We love it! The house is nicely kept and well equipped. Literally, within a few steps you can walk directly from the house into the pool or boat. It is extremely convenient to load and unload the boat because of the short distance. The pool is by far the favorite attraction for my children. After a long boat ride, they can't wait to take the plunge! The pool is rather small and shallow but perfect for splashing around. From the boat dock, its a short ride to either the bay or ocean. Captain Jack's marina in located just outside of the canal and offers boat gas, bait, and supplies.
The house is very well equipped. I found everything I needed in the kitchen to whip up a few tasty meals. The refrigerator is huge!!! There is not an ice maker, except the one in the refrigerator door. We used ice trays and was fine. The bedrooms are great! The master bedroom is so comfy! I wanted to bring that bed home with me....I slept better in that bed than I do my own! The bathrooms are also updated and nice.
The neighborhood is busy but quiet. We noticed on several occasions that the local police patrol the area on a regular basis. We have always felt very safe and secure in this house and neighborhood.
The owners of this house, Tom and Christine, are so friendly. Tom calls on the very first day just to check in. He wants to make sure the renters are happy and have what they need. It's always a nice treat to hear from Tom. Next year our vacation plans will take us in a different direction but I will always fondly remember the summers we spent at this home!"

"What a great way for us to escape the winter! There were so many things about this rental that were perfect for us. All of the rooms are big and open/airy. Lots of space, even in the bathrooms. There are ceiling fans in the bedrooms, dining room, and living room.
The kitchen was equipped with everything a cook could want. Lots of pots, pans, baking dishes, and even gadgets! We brought some "kitchen essentials" with us and never needed to unpack our box -- everything was already there. Things you simply don't expect in a rental were provided here -- enough flatware for several meals and more than a dozen lovely wine glasses. There is plenty of counter space for the most ambitious cook.
There is a new Weber gas grill on the patio, but do be aware that renters need to provide the propane. If you are lucky, there will still be some leftover from the previous renters. Since we were there for the month, we used the grill for many meals.
Being on the canals provides the entertainment of passing boats, iguanas, and pelicans. This location provides morning sun and afternoon shade. It was great to be able to sit on the patio with morning coffee or an afternoon libation and surf the Internet on the provided WIFI.
We loved going to the Cabana Club for the pool, hot tub, and beach. Having a full bar and food service there made it a regular day's event.
Key Colony is very friendly to walkers and bicycles. It is possible to walk or bicycle pretty much anywhere on the island. We regularly traveled this way to the pool, the local post office, or out to eat.
Some of the places we enjoyed include:
Sparky's for fish tacos and happy hour wings/shrimp.
The food from Cabana Breezes that is served at Cabana Club
Tarpon Lodge for happy hour appetizer and drink specials
Fish Tales for lunch, great fish/seafood buys, and prime steaks for the grill
Marathon Lady for a fishing trip
The Hurricane for a great $5 fish sandwich at lunch
Burdines for a killer tuna melt
You can't miss going to Sunset beach to watch the sun go down and join the locals in a serenade about how great it is to be in Marathon Key -- courtesy of local musician John Bartus.
This rental provides the serene quiet of Key Colony Beach, but the convenience of grocery, drug stores, and many restaurants are within a few miles in the rest of Marathon Key. What a great home away from home for us!"
