  • Time to Breathe

"I have been coming to Keyhole Cottage for many years; the last time three years ago with my wife, who died less than a year later. This was the first year I've been back since then. Keyhole Cottage is a place to take time to breathe; to sit and listen and watch without the interruption of television; though there is wifi and so you can always check the news if you really want to. Since you are in the midst of Acadia National Park you are close to all the attractions that that wonderful place has to offer: hiking, bicycling etc. You can see the sunrise from Cadillac Mt, or you can walk a hundred yards to your own beach and to do the same. The accomodations are more than adequate and the cottage has a nice deck with the keyhole view of the water.A great place to be."

  • Great Getaway Home

"I stayed here with my wife and another couple during September of 2014. We loved how secluded the home was, the beautiful view off the back porch, and the open layout of the house. It was very clean and the large television in the living room was a wonderful addition as we were able to watch movies in the evening. We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom as it made getting ready in the mornings much easier. We saw a fox walking around in the backyard on our first morning and enjoyed the wildlife that flourishes in the woods around the home. Just a couple of negatives: the internet wifi is over cellular, so we were really limited in how much we could download (we would have been charged extra for anything over 2 GB of data). I understand the limitations of high speed internet in seclusion, but we were disappointed because we had planned on streaming Netflix in the evenings. Not a huge deal, though. Finally, the downstairs doesn't appear to be heated. Perhaps I'm wrong about that, but we certainly couldn't find a way to heat it. This is problematic if you want to use the other queen bed in the house and the weather is chilly (as it was on our visit). We made due with the one queen and one double bed, but it would have been nice to be able to use the two queens. Overall we had a lovely experience and I would highly recommend this property with the two caveats listed above. It's a beautiful and relaxing place to stay."

  • Clean & comfortable

"Our family stayed here during our 1st trip to Maine. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. The beds were all comfortable and the kitchen had pretty much everything you needed if you decided to cook while there. It was nice to have a comfortable, quiet place to go to at the end of the day after being busy exploring all of MDI during the day. There were some great restaurants in town and all the major attractions are within 1/2 hour away."

  • Delightful in-town cottage

"We found this house to be very comfortable. It is extremely close to the main street in Northeast Harbor, where there is a grocery, bakery, cafe, and plenty of shops to explore. The bus to Acadia and Bar Harbor runs right past the house. The house itself is bright and airy with high ceilings. It has a lovely deck and we ate outside several times. The beds were extremely comfortable with high quality linens. The layout is a little interesting, with one bedroom upstairs and the others downstairs, which allowed for a private hideaway. The kitchen, though smallish in terms of work surfaces, was well equipped with decent knives and ample glassware, dishes and pots/pans. The bathrooms are a bit old-fashioned (the kids got a kick out of the separate hot/cold water faucets)."
