Our Vacation Home is nestled between the Mountains and the Sea in the Heart of Acadia National Park. Walk to local trails that lead to the the rocky coast. Beaches and carriage roads just a few minutes away!

Experience views of Cadillac, Door, Champlain and Gorham Mountains from your 'BASE CAMP'. (note: reservations now required for driving up Cadillac )

Our home was built and designed to accommodate family vacations. An open floor plan allows for comfort and ease of conversation between kitchen, dining and living areas. Pleasant mountain views are visible through the large windows in the dining and living areas. We added plenty of bedrooms to provide privacy from the rest of the house. Upstairs bedrooms are larger and have pullout couches for additional guests. We also have a pack and play for younger guests.
4 Queen Beds are furnished with high quality LL Bean linens to ensure the most comfortable nights rest. Professional photographs of local scenes adorn the walls. Two full bathrooms have LL Bean towels and shower curtains. The deck is made of Western Red cedar and looks out to the mountains and fields. Deer are seen here frequently. Our home reflects simple Maine Home Design which will add to your total Maine Experience.
Walk to Cadillac Mountain South Ridge Trail 5 minutes from house. Reach The Park Loop Road,Ocean Drive, Otter Cliffs/Sand Beach/Gorham Mountain and Otter Cove from a local trail or through the Blackwoods road. A great value for those wanting efficient Acadia accessability.
We are on the Island Explorer bus line-simply walk down our short driveway -across the street to the Otter Creek Inn and Market -utilize the Free service- comes hourly. (Seasonal) The Market is a convenient store for any necessities- a larger grocery store is located in Bar Harbor 5 miles away. Enjoy the town playground which is also across from the Otter Creek Market. Nearby trails will take you to Otter Cove with more fantastic views of the mountains and of the sea. The South Ridge Cadillac Mountain Trail is also walking disatance from the house. Relax at Seal Harbor Beach which is only 3 miles away. Carriage Roads, Jordan Pond and multiple hiking trails and the park loop road are also relatively close to our property. We have a great central location to allow you to embrace all the wonders of this beautiful Area!

We had a great stay! This rental is well located in a beautiful area of Mount Desert Island with great access to nature and Bar Harbor. The house is incredibly spacious (the photos don’t it justice) and is well stocked with everything we needed.

What was especially nice about this property is that it was both conveniently located in proximity to many locations in the park, yet it felt sufficiently secluded, particularly in the backyard. Two huge bedrooms upstairs and just a neat old house that has been updated well. I also appreciated that the owner had an easily visible binder with check out instructions as well as a lot of information about local sights, services, and restaurants. I would definitely recommend it to others and would stay there again.

The location of this house was spectacular! Rooms were large and the kitchen was well appointed. We really enjoyed the deck and the fire pit! Sue was very responsive and took care of a small issue right away for us. Highly recommend!

Spacious rental, and it was nice for our party of four to each have their own rooms with queen beds. The beds are quite firm. Furniture was dated but we had everything we needed. A great location. The hike down to the Otter Creek cove at low tide was lovely when you just cannot get yourself to get back in the car. Washer/dryer worked well.

Everything was provided. Plenty of dishes, pots, pans, etc...Check in was easy. Host was there when I needed help and even left out a crock pot when I had asked if they provided. View was exeptional. I loved sitting out on the back deck listening to wildlife, watching the birds, and looking at the mountains, and stars.

Location was amazing! The home is cute and my family enjoyed the outdoor fire pit in the evenings. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia was a plus. The homes furnishings need updating immediately. For the cost it would have been nice to have living room furniture that welcomes you each time you return home. Unfortunately that is not the case. I looked at the reviews from previous folks and although I loved the location and the layout of the home, with the condition of the furniture and the bedding I can’t give this property a high rating. I was very honest with the owner and advised about missing window screens (2 in the living room, 1 in the first floor front bedroom, upstairs bathroom as well). broken front lock on home and dirty pots and pans at arrival. Although I loved the location, I won’t be back. No worries for them, they are booked solid. It would be nice to reinvest some of the monies they are receiving into improving the furnishings.

There were 7 adults for a long weekend. The house was comfy and had everything we needed. Great location to access the park and not far to Bar Harbor. Had a fire each night out back which was great. Saw deer and turkeys every morning. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location to visit Acadia!

Great location to visit Acadia. Large bedrooms on second floor made for easy sharing with kids and adults. BYO shower supplies, dish soap, laundry detergent, etc and be sure to get check in instructions a few days in advance of your visit!

Great stay!

Great location and home! Great yards for kids. Great stars and quit. Owner went above and beyond to quickly resolve a minor issue! would describe this property as a family home in the woods but close to everything with market across the street. Slightly older home but a great home base for Acadia! Great stay!

Excellent Weekend Retreat

Myself and my three close friends enjoyed a peaceful getaway here, and the house is so well located. Walking distance to a market, easy driving to trails and sights, and on a quiet road with tranquil woods around it. No complaints.

Gorgeous property

The house was perfect for our stay! We had 8 adults in our party and every couple had spacious bedrooms. We enjoyed time around the fire pit and taking in the beautiful Fall scenery. It was very convenient to get into Acadia and only a few minutes to Bar Harbor.

Otter Cove

Had a great week on Mount Desert Island, Maine! Stayed in a house that was perfect for our large family. It was spacious, neat and clean. Our host always got back to us in a very timely fashion to any questions we had, from the booking process through our stay. Its location was in a peaceful area that was easy access to everywhere on the island. We hope to return again!

Perfect hiking family base camp.

The house had lots of room to spread out but stay together. Big open space concept living area (kitchen/dining/family room) and enough bedrooms and bathrooms for my wife and I plus our 2 adult sons and guests, and Don't forget the pup. The location is beautiful. It's set well off the road with a nice back yard and a fantastic view of Cadillac Mt. from the quiet deck. It's 10 minutes from Bar Harbor if you want to dine out or shop but far enough that traffic and crowds are left behind. If you want to hike (that was our goal) you are a 10 minute hike down the road to the Cadillac South trail head and a 2 mile hike to Thunder hole and the Gorham Mt. trail head. Although we could have taken the Free Island Express shuttle to almost anywhere on Mt Desert Island we never ended up needing it. Did I forget to mention you can get a lobster roll right across the street at the Otter Creek Market. Our only complaint (and it's not really a complaint) is that Air conditioning would have been nice cause we were there during a very hot week but there are plant of fans in the house and it cools off a bit after dark. Susan was quick to answer any questions. We are planning vacations to other National parks but if we decide to return to Acadia we would very much like to stay here again.

Everything we needed

Location was easy to access but set far back enough from the road that you didn't notice the cars going by. My son loved the playground we could walk to in under a minute, and the toddler toys in the back yard. Clean and comfortable. Easy 10 minute drive to Bar Harbor. Hope to stay here again soon!

Wonderful place in a very convenient location!

Clean, convenient, and pleasant place to stay, near some of Acadia's best spots (Thunder Hole, Seal Harbor, various gardens). Two doors down from a nice playground (great for the under 5 crowd) and directly across a convenient market that serves lobster dinners. What more could you ask for?

Sue is a full time Registered Nurse who has lived in Bar Harbor for 25 years. Sue is passionate about nature and outdoor sports and can often be found running, hiking, biking, cross country skiing, swimming, boating or frolicking with her children in Acadia.
Kevin is owner of a Local Plumbing and Heating business. He was born and raised in Bar Harbor and is the sixth generation of his family to live here. He is a true Mainer. Kevin has a wealth of local knowledge and is a good source for current events. We enjoy providing a nice space for families to create and enjoy Acadia adventures for wonderful memories as we have!

We are centrally located between Northeast Harbor/Seal Harbor and Bar Harbor . Surrounded by Acadia National Park, the location is superior for access while being only 10 minutes away from Bar Harbor. There is also an Island explorer bus which stops at the Otter Creek Market across the street which is amazingly convenient to shuttle to town or beyond to explore the park.
