August 2015 vacation
"Enjoyed our two week stay in August. Close to West Tisbury location is a short driving distance from everyplace on the island- Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, Chilmark, etc. A small fee allows access to the lovely beach at Lambert's Cove in addition to the many other available beaches (State Road, Bend in the Road, Chappy beaches, Long Point, etc.) House has parking for three vehicles - not an unimportant consideration on the Vineyard.
The old barn house is lovely architecturally. It is furnished casually making for an immediately comfortable visit. Kitchen is equipped and serviceable, but a microwave would be nice. Appliances like the dishwasher and washer/dryer are appreciated. Backyard is hugh and usable for eating, cooking out, and playing. Our crated dog enjoyed the yard. Multiple bedrooms and bathrooms offer a variety of sleeping arrangements. The outdoor shower is practical and fun. The closest neighbor is the art gallery across the Old County Road so there is a country feel while being in driving distance to everything. If you want a county casual place that feels like the Vineyard, this is the place. We look forward to renting again next year."

"My husband, our toddler, and I stayed in the Chilmark cottage and very much enjoyed our time. The cottage is clean and comfortable, and the owners were very friendly and helpful throughout our booking process and stay. The outdoor shower and outdoor space, with a line to hang beach towels, were especially nice touches. The rental includes eligibility to buy a parking sticker for the local Squibnocket Beach. We loved swimming and watching surfers at this beach. It was a great stay and a wonderful week."

"We stayed for the first two weeks in August. This is our eighth vacation on the Vineyard and this house, location, and pool are real standouts. The property manages to be conveniently close to farm stores (we especially liked the one at Ghost Island Farm), grocery stores, and good restaurants (less than five minutes to State Road Restaurant) yet so private and secluded that the peace and quiet is what struck us every day and night. Bunnies in the yard, deer in the driveway, song birds in the trees. The house and pool are oriented so that the pool is in full sun all day but the deck right next to it is in the shade. That keeps the pool water at the perfect temperature -- warm but still refreshing -- and gives folks who don't want too much sun a place to hang out in comfort. Pretty landscaping and plenty of chairs, chaises, and shade umbrellas. The house has two queens and five twins so perfect for families. Having one bedroom downstairs, with a full bath next to it, is also a great convenience for visitors who need to avoid stairs (or want to take naps after lunch!). The master bedroom upstairs was spacious, big closets, great bathroom en suite. The kitchen is well-equipped. Fast Internet. Attractive and comfortable furnishings inside; bunnies, deer, and song birds outside."

"This was our 2nd year renting the home and we enjoyed it even more than the first. The property is private and very quiet. It's conveniently located mid-island which affords easy access to bike trails to Edgartown and Oaks Bluff. The home has all amenities and Alice provided fresh eggs from the chickens in the back of the property. Property provides a step towards nature while providing all modern amenities. We hope to make renting this home an annual summer tradition visiting Martha's Vineyard."
