What makes this cabin unique

Other Things to Note

Another benefit of booking with us is the experience and level of control we have over our property. My wife Sarah and I manage the property ourselves and therefore control cleaning products that are used in the home. Our goal is to have as chemical free environment as possible. We proudly use Mrs. Meyers products, hydrogen peroxide based(bleach free) bathroom cleaner, paraben free naturally derived body wash, and 100% natural essential oils for our cabin’s signature scent. The hot tub is chlorine free; we use Bromine, a safer way to sanitize the spa.

The Neighborhood

This is a secluded property that sits 1.5 miles up a state maintained gravel road. Please understand that going into it. You will not need four-wheel drive as it doesn't help you on steep mountain roads unless there is snow. There are only two other cabins nearby one of which is our group retreat lodge. The other you will probably not even see as it belongs to a part-time resident. Its such a beautiful drive up the mountain any time of year and is often what guests say they enjoy the most(after the first couple of times up and down ha). You will pass a rushing creek, a waterfall in the first switch back, and a couple of cascading creeks! This is nature at it's finest so enjoy!

Getting Around

GPS will mostly work in the area but just in case we do provide easy to understand written directions on your Guest Information Page that will be sent to your email address upon booking. Please follow the driving recommendations provided in the Guest Information Page that will ensure the best experience on the way in. From the cabin you are about 15 minutes from a grocery store in Cherokee and also in Bryson City. There is taxi service in the area but you will need a vehicle for the most part in any mountain town.

Pure Peace

  • 5 of 5

We drove up the winding road ready for some peace and quite and a respite from the world. Found it at the top of the hill. Charming, spacious, clean and inviting. We didn't want to leave and hoping to plan a stay in the he fall to enjoy the leaves. Thank you!

Didn’t want to leave

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin to relax and enjoy nature. Had everything we need it from pots pans coffee and the beds are amazing I slept better than I do at home. Driving up the first time was a little scary for us Florida peeps but after that first time we had no trouble in our mini van. We had great hospitality from the owners and he was quick to clear a path on the road after a surprising snow fall. I will love to see the cabin and surroundings during the summer I’m pretty sure it will be breathtaking. If you are looking for a nice clean and cozy place to stay this cabin has it all.

Quaint and quiet cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently spent a long weekend at the Ol' Gun Range Cabin. The cabin is very clean, cozy and comfortable. The history of the cabin made it a fun place to stay. We had 5 adults and one child, we used up every bed with the exception of the futon. During our stay it was very cold outside, and this made it somewhat difficult to get all the bedrooms comfortable to everyone's liking for sleeping due to the combination of central heat and gas wall heaters; however, this would not deter us from staying at the cabin again, as overall, the heat worked fine. The common areas were nice and warm which is where we spent most of our time anyway. The cabin had a nice set of dishes, glasses, and cooking utensils/pots/pans but there were not any kitchen towels aside from paper towels. There were plenty of bath towels and the bed linens were nice. The road up to the cabin is a windy mountain gravel road, which was fine for us with two SUVs. The road would be fine for cars as well unless there was snow on the road. From the cabin into downtown Bryson City, the trip was about 20-30 minutes. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin and discussed returning in the summer, when the surroundings would be absolutely beautiful!

A great place to disconnect to reconnect

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was great. Location was secluded private & quiet. Exactly what we needed. We wonder into town visited the shops around main st and everyone was very friendly. We took a ride on the polar express for the kids and they absolutely loved it. We also visited the Darnell farms went on a hay ride to the pumpking patch and got lost in the corn maze, they had live music, dance performers and warm apple cider. We really spent most of the time on and around the property; the boys & hub went on an exploration hike that took their breath away “literally”. Roasted marshmallows and hotdogs by the fire pit, relaxed on the porch taking in the scenery & listening to the sound of the creek TOTAL RELAXATION! Hope to be back soon.
