Uptown gem for those looking for an authentic New Orleans stay
This property has been legally licensed for short term rental with the City of New Orleans (license # 17STR-11400).
Come spend time in New Orleans in a traditional residential neighborhood like the locals do. This cozy 1 bed/1 bath cottage is over 100 years old and contains many aspects of the classic architecture for which New Orleans has become renowned - beautiful hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings, original fixtures, and clawfoot bathtub. The classic architecture is juxtaposed with modern amenities to provide a level of comfort that contemporary travelers have come to expect, including a brand new Sterns & Foster Luxury queen bed and an American Leather (barless/springless) queen-plus pull out sofa to help you sleep well after hitting the city. The full kitchen is equipped with gas stove/oven, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, butcher block countertops, microwave, and coffee maker. Additional items provided to make you feel at home include a 40" smart TV, internet, bluetooth speaker, and ductless AC/Heater with independent temperature control in bedroom and living room. This is an ideal home for a range of guests including a family with up to 2 kids, a couple on a romantic getaway, or the individual business traveler.
Located in the heart of Carrollton Uptown and only 3 blocks from Oak Street, this is the perfect rental for those seeking the genuine New Orleans experience buffered from the noisy and drunken tourist traps. Some of the gems that are within walking distances include top-tier restaurants (Boucherie and Jacques-Imo's), music clubs (Maple Leaf), coffeeshops (Rue de La Course and Zotz) and various other shops on Oak Street. Only 1 block away is the Carrollton Streetcar Line connecting you to the rest of the city for a mere $1.25 fare - take it through Carrollton's magnificent oak canopy to beautiful St. Charles Avenue, passing Tulane/Loyola/Audubon Park, through to the Warehouse District/CBD and, finally, to Canal Street and the French Quarter.
Additionally, should you need anything ranging from recommendations or unexpected needs then I will be right next door to accommodate as much as possible.

About Alex Dmytraczenko
Having been born to a Brazilian mother and a Russian father, I was instilled with a traveling spirit from an early age. My father traveled the world on business when I was young and we occasionally benefited from his travels. As soon as I was able, I began feeding my hunger for travel around the world. The advent of short term rentals provided an additional dimension to my travels in that I could experience locations more intimately by staying at the homes of local residents instead of corporate hotels. Additionally, I was fortunate enough to befriend many of the homeowners from which I rented. Now that I have "permanently" settled into the city I love and have become a home owner, I could not be happier to finally experience the flip side of this experience as a home owner offering my house to other travelers. I'm very much looking forward to meeting travelers from around the world and serve as their host in the beautiful city of New Orleans.

Why Alex Dmytraczenko chose Leonidas
I had lived in New Orleans as a renter for 3.5 years previously, but had to leave the city because of Katrina. After experiencing many of life's twists and turns, I was able to move back to New Orleans 9 long years later. This time I was set on purchasing a home and settling down. I also knew that I did not want to be in the heart of the touristy New Orleans. Uptown was an easy call as it provides access to all New Orleans has to offer while provide a buffer from the everyday craziness. When I found this cottage in the traditional shotgun double style in need of renovations, I knew it was the signal I needed to jump head first into this experience.

Convenience at your fingertips
Loved the style of this home. Great neighborhood. Close to the streetcar and restaurants. My sister and I came for the French quarter festival and enjoyed being in this lovely home. Would definitely return!
Lovely little cottage with thoughtful extras
Very nice, super clean, comfortable bed, great kitchen and laundry, we loved staying here!
Clean, beautiful home with a great owner!
We loved our stay! The house was clean and impeccably maintained - seriously the nicest house we've gotten through VRBO. Alex has provided many little amenities that let you know how seriously he takes renting this property. The bed was extremely comfortable, as was the pullout sofa (my husband wants to get the same one, now!). Alex was very responsive when we contacted him. The neighborhood is cute and is the house is quiet. Loved it!
Cute place, great location
This property checked all the major boxes for me: price, location, cleanliness, and decor. Alex, the host, was great and very responsive. I love that it's in an old double shotgun, with high ceilings, big windows, transom windows, wood floors, and a clawfoot tub. Adjusting the water in the shower takes a little trial and error, but once you figure it out, the water is pressure is good (really important when you have long hair). There's a stacked washer and dryer with laundry detergent provided, which would be an extra bonus if you visit in the humid months of summer and start sweating the moment you step outside. The kitchen has a plentiful supply of Community Coffee. We stayed with our two kids, so the sofa bed stayed out the whole time, making the space pretty tight. We were out all day, so we didn't care, but you'll want to put the bed away if you're hanging out inside. The house is within walking distance of the streetcar, as well as Oak Street and Carrollton, where there are great restaurants and some shops. The neighborhood is gritty, but New Orleans is gritty. That's part of the charm. If you have lived your whole life in a sanitized suburb, you might be surprised by the condition of the streets and some of the properties in Uptown. New Orleans is rough around the edges, but it's the best city in the country.
Cozy and inviting
This was probably my best experience with HomeAway. The house was clean and quiet. It's located in the uptown area and only a block or two from the street car, so it was easy to get to the garden district, French Quarter and downtown. Our host checked on us throughout our stay to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. The mattresses, including the one on the sofa bed, were very comfortable. A lot of thought went into setting up the cottage , from the towels, to the coffee maker, to the shampoo. I would definitely stay here again.
Clean and convenient with fresh decor.
We chose to stay here a second time! The house was convenient for us while visiting our Tulane student. The house was clean with ample towels. The washer/dryer came in handy. The water pressure is great and plenty of warm water. Decor is modern and fresh.
