Good stay in a centrally located area
The bungalow was exactly what I expected with it being older. Everything we needed was there for us and touches of details were nice. The area is located perfectly to travel up north to Napa Valley or to go into San Francisco on the north end or the east side. The only concerns we had were that there was no outside lighting. No porch light or lighting on the stairs for safety.
Hi Karen: Thank you for staying with us and for the great review. Indeed our Bungalows are great place to stay for San Francisco Waterfront & Union Square and a short distance to our reknowned wineries. Yes, our Bungalows are old but fully renovated, because they are historic we cannot alter too much on the outside of the property in regards to lights. We do have the porch light on high tech LED smart bulb and they should have gone on at night to dawn. We will definitely check the lights are burned out next time we are out there. Thank you for letting us know.
I really do appreciate you taking the time out to review us.
centrally located and a comfortable place to stay
Although some say the neighborhood is uncomfortable, we did not have any reservations about walking around the neighborhood!!! The home has everything you would need for your stay, and pleasantly decorated. We also enjoyed the local places to visit- Napa, Sonoma, ferry to San Francisco, Mare Island, etc… centrally located for sure.
A delightful stay in Vallejo
The bungalow is a tastefully restored small home with obvious attention to details and appreciation of the unique architecture found in older homes. The queen sized bed was very comfortable, cozy sheets, plenty of pillows and the bathroom complete with towels and toiletries. We love to cook and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The only problems we ran into was the weather was unusually hot and the air-conditioning was not sufficient to cool the home off at night, and the oven had some malfunction, but the owners stated they were replacing the stove. We enjoyed being able to walk to the San Fransisco ferry, the farmers market, a few restaurants, and the walking path along the water front. This was a great place to stay while visiting our daughter at nearby Touros University
Relaxing Valejo Bungalow
My husband enjoyed our brief stay at this pristine Valejo bungalow. Our hosts provided everything for a stress-free visit.
Great house, not so great neighborhood
So, this is a hard one. The house is perfectly cute and we'll appointed. We picked the location to be able to do Napa and SF and other attractions. First, the neighborhood is less than desirable and safe feeling. It was mentioned you could walk to restaurants. Well, it would be much farther than I would want to walk and even if I did, I would not walk at night in that neighborhood. Not saying there are are gun shots but, it seemed very sketchy. Second, location was pretty good for Napa and saving a dime but, not close for SF eevially with the traffic getting anywhere near downtown or beaches or Muir Woods. So, all in all, take in to consideration what you are wanting to do.
First, thank you for taking the time to write your review, Shane.
I am sorry that our bungalow did not meet your “expectation”. Michael's last email said "everything went great". I think maybe we had gotten off on the wrong foot when I did not match your request to lower daily rate to stay with us. As you know there is a base rate and the added fees, taxes and cleaning fees which are fees typically paid by guests. Sorry we did not return the open bottle of shampoo Michael had mentioned he left behind. I think logistics of time, supply and money to send that back to you would have cost multiple of the cost of the shampoo itself.
We pride in striving to emulate luxury brand of hotels, but offered at a fraction of cost. We don’t charge our guests for snacks, water, wine, sundry items, WIFI, 4000+ TV channels, Netflix access, nor parking. The logistics of creating experience of sleeping in a soft Italian bedding that is a hall mark of luxury hotels cost money. For us to be a viable business, we need to charge the minimum base rate and the other fees and taxes.
In terms of the neighborhood, I have had this property since 2004 and I’ve been informed of only one incident of a vehicle break in. As a long time San Francisco resident, vandalism is a common occurrence there, not to mention homeless accosting you for money at street corners in Union Square. Yes, Vallejo has a diverse and rich ethnic community. Tenants and guests appreciate our property for how quiet, peaceful and relaxing it is.
Now to address your concerns of distances from and to attractions, I am glad you did get to do all those things you mentioned. I have had guests marvel at visiting Stinson, Marin Headlands, and Muir Woods. Albeit you were frustrated by traffic. Traffic congestion is a Bay Area wide problem. If there is a traffic incident, all estimated time for travel will be off. As suggested on our sites and guests, the beauty of our bungalows is that you can hop on a world class ferry to San Francisco waterfront. From there you can hop on a cable car to Union Square. Everything is a quintessential San Francisco experience. Our waterfront also have restaurants, which is very walkable since we are at the waterfront.
As mentioned by one of the guests, they thanked me for a “stress-free” experience. We strived to create an elegant home base for all the things you may want or need while you are traveling. Thanks again for staying with us.
Angel in need!
The boutique bungalow was clean and well appointed, but Meehyun was the star. When we woke up to find our car had been vandalized, Meehyun drove in from her home to drive us to the airport so we would not miss our flight. She was our angel that day!
