Peaceful and relaxing two story apartment in historic building

Bedrooms 2
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 bedroom, 1 bath two story apartment. Private garden and sun deck.

Located in a charming historic building this apartment is filled with character and unique features. The two bedrooms and bath are located on the second floor (the smaller bedroom is furnished with a double bed and does not have a closet). There is a large deck located off of the master bedroom.

Downstairs you will find a living room, large kitchen and sun/dining room. Television and WiFi are provided.

Our guests will enjoy the private shady garden, fish pond, and small fenced yard. The outside spaces will call to you for relaxing, dining, reading, visiting, etc, etc....

Restaurants, grocery and liquor stores, gift boutiques, ice cream shops, laundromat. kayak rentals, and entertainment are all located within a few steps of the apartment. A little longer walk (or ride on the town's tram) will get you to the harbor, the beach(located on the Chesapeake Bay), museums, additional restaurants and shops.

There is off street parking provided. Beach chairs and bikes are also available.

While staying at our property you can also enjoy the "Little Free Library" located in the front garden next to the Main Street sidewalk. Always a fun surprise to see what books have come and gone during your stay. Feel free to take a book that strikes your fancy (and bring one to donate if you want - but not necessary)

We will consider renting to guests who travel with well mannered dogs. There is a pet fee ($50 per pet/per visit) and refundable pet deposit. Please contact us to discuss this option.

Our family views this apartment and it's location as a true treasure. We have enjoyed its amenities for a number of years and look forward to being able to share its charm with others. Please be respectful of the neighbors (though there are not many of them) and the facilities.

This prime location will allow you to park you car for your entire stay if you would like. All of Rock Hall is within walking or biking (we provide two beach cruisers) distance of the garden gate. The town also offers a tram service ($1 per person per ride) from mid May until late fall.

Some of our favorite times in Rock Hall are, New Years Eve (hat parade, fish drop, bay plunge), Triathlon weekends in spring and fall, 4th of July (fireworks, 5 mile run, great parade and festival), Watermans Day ( usually the first Sunday after the 4th of July), Pirates and Wenches weekend (fun for pirates of all ages - second weekend in August), FallFest (October Saturday with great music, good food and unique crafts).

About Laurie Walters

My husband and I raised our family in Westminster, MD. We started visiting Rock Hall when our son and daughter-in-law moved here for teaching jobs.

It was not long before we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to purchase this unique property. From 2009 until 2015 we used this apartment as a weekend getaway. Hosting many friends and family members as they came to unwind and relax.

In 2016 we were able to move to Rock Hall as full-time residents. As much as we loved this little apartment and its garden we realized the need for more space in a full time home. We have found that home just a few blocks away and can now share our Secret Garden with you.

We look forward to meeting you and hope that you enjoy our town and apartment as much as we have.

Why Laurie Walters chose Rock Hall

We love the character of this old building. The bedrooms are so cozy with low ceilings and old plaster walls. And then there are the kitchen and sun room which have vaulted ceilings. The interior just felt like home to us. But the truth of the matter is - we fell in love with the garden. Small and unassuming it is a peaceful oasis. Always shady in the heat of the summer be sure to take time to just sit and watch the dragon flies hover over the fish pond.

The property is in a great location, quiet, relaxed and well maintained. Want to be in a small town on the water, laid back and chill. This is a good spot to unplug. The property owner Laurie is excellent and responds quickly. Backyard is Zen. Enjoy.

Great Stay in Rock Hall

  • 5 of 5

Laurie is a cordial host and the house was full of thoughtful touches that made our stay really nice. The back garden is beautiful. We enjoyed having our morning coffee on the patio looking out on the garden. We also loved the location right on Main St. We just had to cross the street for breakfast, or wander a half a block in either direction for ice cream. We highly recommend this rental!

Beautiful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed in this wonderful home. The yard is beautiful. Sitting in the backyard and listening to the sounds of nature was so relaxing. We had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend. We had some great meals sitting on the water at the local restaurants. And we found the local beach to watch a beautiful sunset.

Beautiful, Comfortable, Well-equipped, and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend in Rock Hall. The apartment and grounds were beautiful - loved the fish pond and the outdoor sitting areas. Beautifully decorated and very well equipped for a VRBO. The kitchen had everything we might have needed (had we been inclined to cook!) even including ziplock bags, and tin foil! Laurie was a wonderful hostess, greeting us and showing us around when we arrived. We can't wait to go back there again.

Our property is located on Main Street in the small town of Rock Hall. Don't be surprised however by how quiet this location will be. The apartment is in the back half of a historic building and features a peaceful engaging garden and fenced yard.

Many come to enjoy time sailing or fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. Others are just seeking a quiet getaway close to nature and surrounded by history. Chestertown, MD is just a short 15 min drive away.
