Peace and Tranquility
It's all true! The home is absolutely beautiful and the view took my breath away. It is in the best location that allowed a full decompress. Tally and Debbie were always available and very helpful when needed from the start to the end of the vacation. I highly recommend this property for those looking for a peaceful vacation.
It was a pleasure to host you!
We are so happy that you had the rest and retreat that you deserved!
Please come back to our beautiful slice of paradise!

A little piece of Heaven on Earth
Our family vacation consisted of a total of 13 people, 6 adults and 7 kids, and there was more than enough room for all of us.
The landscaping and the houses were stunning and had everything we needed from pots, pans and cups, to towels & pool toys. Every room had an air conditioning unit so you could be as chilly as you liked, with the exception of the room with the pull outs, which is the only suggestion I would make to change in the future. An A/C unit in this room would be a great idea too because it is most likely where the kids are going to stay, or at least that was how it was with us.
Communication with Tally was easy, mostly because there were no issues to speak of. He checked on us multiple times to make sure all was well and it was appreciated.
To sum it all up, our entire family agreed that the best part of the vacation was the house and we enjoyed every moment playing, relaxing or sitting on the patio listening to the frog "Fred" and watching the rain.
Other than the sea urchin my son stepped on, this was the best vacation EVER.
The Perea and Woodyard Families
Every amenity for large group or family! Unobstructed Views over rolling hills to Pacific far horizon.
Mahalo for staying with us! We enjoyed having you! Please come back again.
Exceptional location, private, modern with a terrific layout, good for couples and families.
We stayed for just under 2 weeks in February of 2019. About a 45 minute drive north of the airport, the Kohala ranch is a secured area, with a spectacular collection of premium houses, at an elevation that provides an endless view of the west coast of the island. The house, like the others in the area is on a large private lot meaning you won't see or hear a neighbour. The large rancher style layout, allowed our large party a lot of comfort and a close but separate carriage house gives some extra privacy and quiet for those with children. We had a 1 year old going on to 90 years old, and everyone enjoyed themselves. A modern kitchen, with impressive restaurant level appliances opens into a literal airplane hanger of a living area with a 40 foot exit to a beautiful deck area with infinity pool, hot tub and BBQ. Private decks outside most of the bedrooms give a bit of extra space for guests and the grounds are a pleasant collection of lime and avocado(?) trees all secure with a automatic gate. The entire house is well updated, every room has a large TV with modern equipment, including a surround sound system in the main living area. Bathrooms are all well laid out, though you wont find a bathtub in any of them (fortunately a large laundry room sink worked for the younger kids). Lots of closet, storage space and full laundry make longer stays a real pleasure.
While it is 50+ minutes to the main city of Kona, you would be wise to explore the smaller communities in the area, all of which are only 20 minutes drive and have a lot to offer, including good food, groceries and markets. A half a dozen high end resorts are within 20 minutes drive if you want a higher end meal, golf or quality beach access (Hapuna beach is busy but excellent). The staff/mgmt were quick to respond to questions and we had no issues during our stay.
Needless to say, we really enjoyed the visit, I think it is one of the nicest places we have used on a rental site. The rental cost hides the great value considering how many people it accommodates. I was here for a conference and it was sad to see my colleagues paying $300-400 a night for a cramped room with no amenities and no ability to prepare their own meals.
I will stay here again hopefully and I'd recommend it to anyone with a larger group looking for a high quality vacation in the northern part of the Big island.
Mahalo for staying with us! We enjoyed having you! Please come back again.
A stunning property with everything you could need!
I booked this property for myself and 9 friends to celebrate my 40th birthday in June. We travelled from Sydney, Australia and we couldn't have asked for a better vacation home!
The property itself is so spacious and well designed that we all had our own space, including everyone having their own bathroom. Then we could come together in the fabulous communal spaces - the large kitchen, living area & Lanai - to enjoy each others company.
Debbie was always available leading up to the trip to offer recommendations, answer questions and give advice which made the planning of the trip from Australia so much easier! And once we arrived Tally was on hand to show us around and answer any questions we had during our stay - both were incredible hosts.
Everything has been thought of in this property; the kitchen has everything you need to throw a celebration dinner, bluetooth speakers throughout the property, stunningly landscaped gardens (that we utilised for some yoga with the amazing views!).
We also found the locals incredibly friendly and were within short drives of incredible beaches, activities and restaurants, including the Lava Lava Beach Club where we had a fabulous meal with live music on the beach. I would recommend driving around the back of the property too to the rear entrance where there are incredible views over the coast - a fantastic short drive for an afternoon.
I only wish we could have stayed longer, but I will be planning another trip soon to stay at this beautiful property!
Many Thanks Debbie and Tally!
Mahalo for staying with us! We enjoyed having you and hope you can come again!

This is just a brief starter list of what’s on the island. Hawaii is a big place and we’re sure you’ll find your way but here are a few helpful tips to get you started.
Stuff to Do
Volcano National Park: Bike to the flowing (maybe, quite variable) lava. Bike rental costs $15 to $20 per bike. It’s worth it, the walk is so unnecessary and eats through viewing time. Plan on leaving from the house early and spending the day in Volcano National Park. Drive time to park is about 2.5 hours over the saddle road. Get gas in Hilo before going on to the park. Inside the park head to the Jagger museum first and see the big crater with a lava lake. Head back around to Chain of Craters road and stop at the Thurston Lava Tube and maybe hike Kiluea Iki trail (2 hours). Plan of leaving the park by 3:00pm to drive to Kalapana. Arrive by 4:00pm. Rent bikes and ride down a gravel road to see lava flowing into ocean. Stay until after dark, the glow from the lava is very impressive at night! Bike back to car in the dark (bike rental people give you lights), then drive home, about a 2.5 hours. It’s a long day but well worth the effort.
Hike in Pololu Valley: Drive to the end of the road out north. Hike down into the valley, across the beach and up the opposite side. Follow the trail about another 1.5 miles and arrive on a cliff with amazing views, about 1.5 hours. Have a snack and turn around here. Trail gets sketchy afterwards. Stop in Hawi town at the coffee place for ice cream, Tahitian Vanilla Milkshake is the best ever!
Manta Ray Night snorkel: Big splurge, about $100 per person. Amazing to see these animals. There are many videos online of this trip. Just check YouTube.
Snorkeling at Mahukona: Just north of us. No beach. Ladder entry. Only go when ocean is calm!!! Very clear water, lots of fish, my favorite place to swim.
Boogie Boarding at Hapuna Beach State park or Mauna Lani beach. We have boogie boards in garage.
Most Beautiful Beaches: Makalawena (have to hike in, lots of shade, sometimes rough water), Hapuna (Huge, long sand beach, no shade, good boogie boarding), Mauna Lani (need to park in public parking, not much shade, good boogie boarding), Puako reef: see public access areas in the guide book The Big Island Revealed (lots of turtles here, can snorkel in tide pools), Beach 69 or Waialea beach (lots of shade, very pretty setting), Spencer Beach park (easy for kids to get in very shallow, nice beach if ocean is rough in other areas).
Swim with Turtles: at Kiholo Bay.
Hike/snorkel to shark lava cove. Very pretty, lots of turtles, very cold fresh water floating on top in bay.
See The Stars: Drive up to see Mauna Kea Observatories and look through telescopes. Leave house about 3:00pm. Drive to Mauna Kea Visitors Center (9,000 feet). Spend 30-60 minutes at this elevation to acclimate, see the museum and videos inside the visitor’s center and then check out the silver swords plants out back. Leave visitor’s center by 5:00, drive to top of Mauna Kea, 14,000 feet. Find a place to park and see the giant telescopes and watch the sunset. After the sunset, drive back down and look through the telescopes at the visitor’s center. Volunteer astronomers who run telescopes are wonderful help in stellar education.
