About Ema Schulz
We are a family of four that started coming to Kauai 20 years ago. After connecting deeply with the magic of Kauai and some incredible friends we found ourselves called to the island and we finally set down some roots. We live and work in Malibu, California, but our lives and our communities are split between Kauai and The Bu. Our family is filled with avid surfers and philosophers and this little cottage is a dream all four of us shared for many years. This is our home and we are happy to share it with like minded people who have a zest for life and who just understand that we all need a beautiful place to enjoy from time to time, and you are worth it. You deserve the tropical island vacation you have been dreaming of. Who knows, one day it might be your reality. With Aloha

Why Ema Schulz chose Princeville
The location is what is unique about this property. A private street and a quaint complex nestled into a tropical landscape with only a few units. The gem is the path to the beach and it's proximity to Hanalei Bay by walking or driving. But, even more spectacular, and why we chose this street, is the Rainbow Views daily across the street. We wanted Rainbows in our life, and this is the magic spot. In the morning with your tea or coffee, looking out at Bali Hai or with your wine in the evening. Happiness is. Also, the complex is filled with artist, visitors, health guru's and other locals creating a really nice community giving you the feeling of living in Kauai.
What makes this Condo unique
We hope you enjoy our home and find the charm in it we do. Everything has been fully remodeled, and we took pride in our furnishings, making sure that you felt at home and felt Hawaii. We have spent time enjoying the house and made sure everything is spotless and comfortable. We love the quaint vibe of Hale Honu and it has a feeling of living like a local, away from the tourist, crowds and vacationers. You will enjoy the chorus of morning birds and the roosters, cozying up to read a book, or just cooking spaghetti dinner, you are covered. Please check the location on a map to understand the neighborhood and how the duplex is situated.

Stylish super clean unit
Ema was a fabulous host. Her unit is decorated beautifully and extremely comfortable and exceptionally clean. The location is lovely and we particularly loved the sweet local food stand “nourish” at the end of the street. So much thought has been put into this unit and there are lots of lovely details. Perfect amount of beach gear in the closet. Thank you Ema!
Wonderful home away from home
From the moment we walked into Ema's house to the moment we locked the door behind us on our way out, we felt like we were at home. As stated, it had been upgraded with new kitchen, baths, paint and furnishings. All beach supplies were there, too.
For eight wonderful nights, this three-bedroom duplex in a very quiet and serene neighborhood away from the relative bustle of Princeville proper allowed us to relax and enjoy the natural beautify of Kauai. There's more than enough of that to satisfy any traveller. With five people we could have felt crowded. The three decent sized bedrooms and their views of the lush surroundings suited us well.
The kitchen is well-stocked as advertised. There was even fresh ground coffee from a previous guest. We left a few items for the next one. One small suggestion - a good steel chef's knife would fully round out the knife draw.
As for location, Kauai isn't a large island. We prefer the lush North Shore, yet there's few affordable options these days. No longer able to afford Hanalei proper, Ema's house combines proximity to town at a fair price. There's a lovely half-mile walk along a residential road that leads to a half-mile trail down to the beach, a magical experience into itself. Once there, head right through the dense overhanging trees to the beach that's shared with the luxurious St. Regis Hotel. And its famed sunset views of "Bali Hai" ridge.
The location was also central to most of Kauai's awesome North Shore beaches - Lumahi, Tunnels, Rock Quarry (where our kids did much of their surfing), Haena and Ke-e. For that, you'll need to get a pass weeks in advance as there's limited, controlled parking and access to the Napali Coast trail. We only learned about that once on island.
We went hiking in Waimea Canyon and to a hidden waterfall inland from Kapaa. Not for the timid or those with weak knees!
The house is a short walk to Foodland supermarket (great selection of poke) and other shops, restaurants and amenities of Princeville and is just down the street from the local police and fire station for additional security. Not that we ever felt insecure...
Although we never met Ema, she was very responsive to whatever we needed. She has a small crew of property managers/cleaners who came whenever we requested something that needed attention. No hassles at all. Certainly she's among the best hosts we've ever dealt with on VRBO or Airbnb.
Highly recommend her house.
We have gotten what we expected!
We just loved the house!
Loved staying here! It was perfect for our family. Ema was very nice! Highly recommend!
Clean, quiet complex. Everything supplied for beach time.
We had a wonderful vacation! The house was perfect for our family, beautiful, and was so close to the beach. The location was quiet and so relaxing. Ema was wonderful to work with and provided tons of extras in the house. She was so kind to allow us to have a late check out so we could fully enjoy our last day. Definitely hope to stay here again in the future.
We are located on the North Shore of Kauai. The more tropical side of the island. We get an afternoon or morning shower with full days of sun. We are a quite enclave of 10 buildings, that is off the main area, so it is quiet and has a local vibe. Surrounded by big estates and views of Bali Hai, and just a short walk to an incredible easy trail to the beach. Perfect for anyone who golfs, plays tennis, snorkels, surfs, likes to relax, likes to hike. It is all close by. Great shops and restaurants within 5 minutes. The end of the day people come home and are in bed early. Not a late night town.
